The fried chicken was phenomenal, it came with hot honey, and that took it over the top. It was juicy and crispy and the hot honey was the best I have tasted. Chef's kiss! The grits were good and had a little spice to them that I appreciated and the biscuit was crumbly and buttery in a non-greasy way, yummy! However, the collards were the worst greens I have ever tasted in my life. I'm sorry y'all, I don't know what happened to the person who cooked those greens were bad. There was not a bit seasoning! I couldn't even re-do them at home, they were so bad, I COULDN'T EAT THEM. I was so shocked because everything else was so good! I will absolutely order food from them again, but I'm never ordering those greens again!

I'd go back for another one right now but will definitely be returning to this restaurant for that sandwich next time I'm in Detroit.

Granted I did have to ask for them to be remade since the first batch was burned (cooks nowadays try to service only the lighter side up as if our taste buds won't notice the burnt side on the back ) but the server was gracious and acknowledged the oversight offering to have them remade. The skillet was an excellent choice with lots of flavor and loved having guac and sour cream as a topping. I'd happily eat here again. It was quite busy for a Saturday but we didn't wait long to be seated and served. It a bustling restaurant with plenty of seating options.

The servers are all well trained, and highly professional. The food is fantastic. The menu is the standout; it is very creative and has something for everyone. Let's start with their breakfast. This is probably the best breakfast/brunch place in town. Too bad they're only open weekends for breakfast. Whenever we have family back in town or friends from out of town, this is our go to place. Casual relaxed, friendly with quality food. If you haven't been here for breakfast, I would highly recommend it. The only comment I have is they don't open for breakfast until a little bit later in the morning. Usually, there is a line out out front waiting for them to open. We've had most things on the menu and to be truthful, not one thing has disappointed. Dinner: we don't get here too often for dinner because in my mind, this is our go to breakfast place. Last week we tried it for dinner and again, very pleasantly surprised at the professionalism of the wait staff, the quality of the food, and the overall dining experience. Whoever transformed his place from a hipster beer hall to a quality dining experience did a great job. Kudos to them!

A sharp contrast from the person we were previously dealing with. My chicken was dry and tasted like old grease (after waiting all that time) unfortunately i did not eat it after the first bite. The entire meal was trashed. The drink was fine ‍. I probably won't visit this location or any other one again. Horrible first impression

Even on a Monday night at 8:00pm, they were busy, which I think says a lot. The menu is small but intentional. Their staples are staples for a reason, and the servers are so personable that talking with them almost feels like running into an old friend. We each ordered a drink, the Brussels (always, we don't care what we get for a main), and shared the burger and campanelle. You're probably never going to be blown away by a burger, but you know a good burger from a bad one. This was a GOOD burger. The campanelle though... we could not stop talking about it. Genuinely addicting and easily the standout of the night. So happy this place exists in Detroit. We'll keep coming back.

We arrived on this misty evening around 8pm, into the dim, candlelit space with upbeat music playing. We were asked promptly if we had a reservation-- did not, so we were promptly seated at the counter, across from the bar-- which was actually less crowded than the section on the floor with tables. Onto the food, I had fries that were nicely salted, and covered in a curry spice. They were decent but nothing spectacular. I would also describe my burger this way. The best part of it was the perfectly toasted and buttery bun-- but I find it overconfident to serve a burger without any toppings-- just a sauce that was apparently blended with pickles that I couldn't really taste. The burger was seasoned well enough...plenty of pepper, but it was all one texture, I didn't pick up any searing or anything to make the texture less one note. I asked my server for extra sauce, mustard, and ketchup to make it better. My friend recommended this spot specifically for the burger so I'm willing to say, I just ordered the wrong thing maybe. Onto the desert, the corn tiramisu caught my eye as something unique to try and it was truly an experience. It made me laugh out loud cause it was strange unexpected food experience in both flavor and presentation, I enjoyed it, but wouldn't order it again persay. It came out in a little whipped pile covered in cornflakes with green jalapeño jelly. I appreciated the richness and that it wasn't too sweet-- but overall I'd enjoy it more if it was presented more neatly, and there was a bit more spice on the plate to cut through said richness, although to their the deep sweet and earthy flavored of jalapeños was captured perfectly in the gel.

I'm going to preface this by saying that I think I might just not be an Italian Beef kinda gal…read more Despite living in Chicago for a full decade I embarrassingly never had one before, but I was near Matt & Mo's and saw the rave reviews and had to give it a try. Now, objectively I can say it's very good. The portions are huge, the meat is flavorful and juicy, the peppers were good. There's just some herb or something mixed in there in the marinade/aus jus, that I just don't think I like (I think it might be fennel? Something kind of licorice-y that I don't jive with). But if you're an Italian beef fan, or enjoy that flavor profile, you're gonna love it! Now, what I did love was everything else! The fried ravioli? Delicious! The french fries? So good! And a very generous portion of both! Service was also VERY friendly and everything was prepared quite quickly! It's a walk up window but there are some picnic tables for dining there, though I chose to eat in my car before making my way back home. I would 100% come back by and go for perhaps a sausage or a coney dog next time, definitely stick with orders of those ravioli and fries, too!

The sandwich originated in Chicago, so I like that Matt & Mo's has a replica of Wrigley Field's ivy wall. On the flip side, I didn't like being charged a 4% fee for paying with a card. My wife ordered a pepperoni pizza puff along with French fries. The pizza puff fell apart too easily, and was basically a larger version of a Totino's pizza roll. The fries were standard. With my sandwich, I ordered poutine. The consistency and flavor of the gravy made the poutine much better than average. As for the Italian beef, it did not disappoint. I regret getting just sweet peppers, as I should have gotten either hot or mild peppers with the sweet. I did get the whole sandwich dipped in au jus, which was the right move. This was my first time having an Italian beef, so it's hard to judge, but I definitely enjoyed it. Next time, I will bring cash to pay, and might even try some of the other menu items. I look forward to trying Doug's Delight, as well.
