Owners and employees are awesome, and the River next to the campsite is beautiful. It was a busy weekend in Ocala considering a virus was spreading. Every camp site in the national park was booked. That did not stop my friends and I from looking. We ended up finding Bronson's camp which was an hour and a half away from from where we were, But this camping was happening one way or another. When we arrived we were sketched out, this place is in the middle of nowhere in central Florida. You see crazy sh** in the movies, so anything becomes scary right. Anyhow, we come across this beautiful river which we ended up camping next to. We are so happy to have discovered this gem. The owners were welcoming, kind, and patient. The employees were fun, one hung out with us for a bit. The people around the camp were super nice. The river was pretty, the way the trees hovered and the dock with two mean ducks haha. Canoes were available for rent ($25) which I would of taken if I hadn't been to intoxicated. It's $15 per tent (2person). Cheap compared most campgrounds. The bathrooms are not luxurious but if you spent time outdoors it's not something that matters. My night here was unforgettable, no one shut us up, there was 14 of us and it was late at night, so please be respectful and modest. In the summer we were in loop 1 and recently we grabbed a last minute spot in loop 2. Even though there were so many folks we still had a great experience. The dogs love that park. There is a 13 mile trail that is in and out and that would take us way too long especially with the heat. We adore this spot and will be back!!!

The trails are tranquil and vary in difficulty from easy to somewhat hard. Along the way there are plenty of opportunities to watch the animal life of the area and capture them in photographs. There a plenty of benches and little nooks where to rest along the way, some good enough to enjoy a picnic! Besides hiking this park offers all kinds of amenities such as camping- (all, including glamping), biciclying, horseback riding, fishing, and canoe/kayak launching. There is a historical fort and grounds within but currently close for renovations, (I believe it is scheduled to open in November). At Hillsborough River State Park there is plenty to do to enjoy a great day outdoors!

However, it's only $10 now that I have my own life jacket (saving me additional cost of $5 to use one of theirs, as required). Well worth the low cost for some soul-enriching, communing with nature. I have never made a reservation. I normally arrive around 10:30, most recently on a Friday. Parked for free on Baptist Camp Rd. Just a bit of a walk from there with my inflated paddleboard, but I don't mind the extra exercise. You can unload your stuff closer, if preferable. There are port-a-potties available. You can count on there being a line in the check-in office. Various recreation supplies are available there for purchase. The process moves reasonably enough. A reservation will guarantee your entrance, however, and possibly aide quicker personal info collection. I always plan to do the Emerald Cut in roughly 3 hours round-trip, allowing myself several stops to enjoy the surroundings. You do run into (quite literally at times) novice paddlers along the way, which can be a bit tricky, yet not a real nuisance for me. In general, there's friendliness along the waterway. Slighty rowdy, party vibes in some spots, but also opportunities for solace and zen in various nooks. Encountering wildlife, fragrant elderberry, and other captivating flora along this stretch is always gratifying. It's a popular recreation destination for good reason.

My Hubby and I love kayaking, so we booked an excursion months in advance for Rock Springs through TripAdvisor. Our Tour Operator was Get Up And Go Kayaking located at Kings Landing in Apopka, FL. I LOVE saying Apopka ;) The good news: Apopka is a quick 1 hour drive from Orlando. Make sure you don't miss the turn to King's Landing, because the entrance is located on a narrow dirt road. You must drive past Kelly Park (which fills up fast). There is a Park Ranger located here who will guide you to King's Landing. As you get closer and if you see a parking spot, grab it! Check in is located in the Cabin like office where you will have to sign a waiver. If you do not want to take a clear bottom, guided Kayak tour, you can either rent or BYO Kayak versus taking a semi private, clear, guided kayak tour. NOTE: ONLY use their Sunscreen/lotion which is provided at no cost. It protects the wildlife and the Springs. We wanted the full experience as we have previously enjoyed renting clear Kayaks. Our guide for the morning was: Megan, who was fantastic! Full of energy, information and helpful tidbits about the Springs and its human and wildlife inhabitants. Our group was small and capped at 10. We paddled through both narrow and open stretches, and stopped to swim in the warm, crystal-clear water. One highlight was a banyan tree with an 8-foot natural "jump hole"--such a cool experience! It was a serene, memorable day, and fun fact: this is the very spring featured in the Visit Orlando commercials! Yeah, definitely take a day away from crowded Orlando to relax and enjoy Mother Nature! You will Thank Me ;)

Joel of Fish Daddy Charters on April 20, 2016, and it was the best day of fishing I have ever had in my life! In no time, Capt. Joel had us on the spot and it was non/stop action. Huge Gag Grouper and a beautiful Cobia. The boat is strong, smooth and comfortable with plenty of room to fish. The Captain is knowledgable, experienced, professional and a great guy. Excellent charter experience! I was with a friend, but would be very comfortable bringing my wife and kids.

Just in front of the center console sits a bench seat which is extremely comfortable. We have a wide casting platform with sea deck on top for a comfortable safe footing. Also equipped on the casting platforms is a lean bar which allows you to take some weight off your feet and relax while we stalk fish. The boat has a 6' power pole off the left transom. A reliable 2014 Suzuki DF90A is attached to an Atlas jack plate to run shallow so we can take the most direct route to the fishing grounds.
