I don't understand the bad reviews on here. I have used the Maryland Square website many times to order shoes. I have been extremely pleased with them. I have an absurdly Narrow foot...AAA/AAAAA and the heels NEVER fit on the boots/shoes I've ordered from them and never a problem with returning or crediting my bank account. Lately I ordered just some Easy Spirit clogs and sandals and WOW, the clogs fit to perfection. Have had to have cobbler adjust sandals a bit but they, too, will work. Am thrilled! The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is that they advertise the width of some if these sandals as "2A" and neither the box nor the shoes reflect this width, so am guessing this is a stretch of the truth. I don't like that I have to pay $6.95 or so for returns but that's just a minor annoyance for shoes, other than athletic shoes, that I can wear. I am size 11 narrow. I got some loafers, Bella Vita Alessi. They were still too wide. I could fit my finger in the toe box, and I couldn't walk in them because my heel just slid right out. Not worth the $10 return fee to experiment. I'll stick with Clark's. They always fit my feet. read more

These people charge high shipping to make up for supposed discounts. They have very poor customer service. I spent $98 for shoes that didn't fit so I tried to exchange them for a larger size which they didn't have. My refund was $67 and change. Even though they have good selection, their prices are high. It's unfortunate that a massive corporation like Maryland Square can be so deceitful. I ordered a pair of shoes in June, and because of issues with back orders, I didn't receive my shoes until August! I figured it would be worth the wait because I have a narrow feet and have difficulty finding dress shoes that fit. When the shoes finally arrived, they were way too narrow and tight. I immediately returned them, and it took four weeks to get a refund! I, like everyone else, lost time and money on a pair of shoes I would never get to wear. It cost me $23.93, and if you multiply that by the number of people who have to pay the same S&H, label cost, and tax, I call it highway robbery. I placed an order with Maryland Square on Dec. 10. I have shopped with this company for years. This time nothing arrived. I received a postcard from you saying that my order was incomplete. I put the missing information on the card and sent it back to Maryland Square. No shoes arrived. Then I got my Visa bill, checked it over, and found a $71 charge from M Square for shoes I never received! I called the company phone number, but the first person could not help me. He said I would need to transfer to another employee who would have more information. I waited 21 minutes for this other person to help me. Finally I hung up. Absolutely at the bottom of the heap in terms of customer service and accountability! The only reason I have resorted to ordering from them is because they are one of the few shoe stores that carry narrow sizes. Other than that, this company has no redeeming qualities. To cite a recent experience: I spoke with 2 "supervisors" and neither one would take any steps to try to resolve a fedex delivery problem, i.e. an order from MS was on a fedex truck "out for delivery" for five days, bu. t the item was NEVER delivered! The MS supervisors said they had to wait 15 days after the ship date before they could report the item as lost and issue a refund! They also stated that they had no way of directly contacting the fedex facility where the order was. Really? They select the carrier and the method of shipping, but they have no way of communicating with the carrier if there is a problem? Beyond ludicrous and why would you waste your time ordering from them? I'll just start wearing heavier socks. read more

On 08-08-24, I ordered four pairs of shoes for a trip out of country on Sept. 3rd. Eight days later I found out online (from my own curiosity, searching) that one navy color pair was shipped to a random address in WI rather than to me in SC; picture proof readily available on Fed Ex website. The other three pair are still "in transit", no specific tracking information available. I called Maryland Square customer service about the misdelivered pair and was told Maryland Square would have to MAIL (via USPS, not email) me a form to file a claim. The USPS to me will take at least a week, then a week to mail the claim back. Today 08-16-24, I reordered (and paid a second time) for a replacement pair but I doubt they will arrive on time. No express shipping available from Maryland Square. Very frustrating and disappointing. By the way, as of 08-16-24, I have yet to receive the other 3 pairs of shoes ordered 08-08-24. I have 2 pair of nice ladies shoes.Neither pair fit.I originally tried to order a pair of red sketchers for my wife's birthday in 2021.They did not have the 8.5 w that I needed so I ended up with a nice pair of leather(red) shoes in a size 9 (@roughly twice the price) .This year I think I'm going to get something done before they run out of the sketchers I wanted originally.So in September I order another pair of sketchers (over the telephone).They come in the mail and I promptly hide them away in a closet.I did not confirm that they were the right size.Flash forward to her birthday (Dec) They were 9.5 w and way too big.She went on to tell me that the pair I gave her last year didn't fit either (Size 9-too small)!So after all my effort to find just what she wanted here I am out roughly $150.00 and nothing to show for it .I decide to contact Maryland about e changing for a 8.5 w .I eventually got through with a 5am ET call and found that yes they have the 8.5w that I need but sorry we have a 60 day return policy .OK I get it but who made the mistake sending a 9.5 to begin with? Then I'm told that a supervisor can approve the exchange for the "right" size but they don't come in until later and I"ll have to call back.I explained how difficult it has been to get through to begin with .Can't you just have a "supervisor " call me back? I received their beautiful catalog yesterday and placed an order morning for a pair of shoes. I realized they charged for shipping, but I grudgingly went ahead with the order. Then I talked to my friend who said Maryland Square has a sister site called Shoe Mall and they do not charge shipping! So I called and talked to a representative who ask what they could do to keep me as a customer. I told her to forgive the shipping charge. She said she could not do that, but she would send me to a supervisor. I waited 20 minutes for a supervisor to come on, only to tell me she could not forgive the shipping. So I told her to cancel my order. She said it was being processed and she couldn't do that, but when it arrived I could return it! I told her they don't return the shipping charge plus I would have to pay additional for the return! What's the point of that? She said she could not forgive the shipping unless I had a free shipping code. Is that ridiculous? If I had a free shipping code, I would have used it in the first place! I also told her another rep said that a supervisor could help me with forgiving the charge. Again she told me she could not. I told her I would be telling my friends not to use Maryland Square and I would be writing a review on Yelp. With that she asked me if there was anything else she could do for me! I am at their mercy as I cannot find narrow shoes anywhere even in a large city as San Diego, CA. But I try not to buy anything I don't need because you cannot go by size and if you have to return them then you are out nearly $30 and end up with no shoes. I have no choice but to shop online because brick and mortar stores in my area don't carry shoes in my size. While Maryland Square did have several pairs that met my needs for style and size, the shipping costs and poor customer service were awful. I paid $9.99 shipping for each pair, and another $9.99 each to return the 2 pairs that didn't work for me. In hindsight I could probably have saved a bit if I'd not used their return labels, something I won't do again if I'm ever in the position of having to buy from them. Believe me, if I could avoid buying from them I would. They received my 2 returned pairs on 5/11/23 but didn't acknowledge that until 5/19/23. And as of today, 5/21/23, they've yet to issue the credit to my card. When I contacted them about this, I was told that I had to call the warehouse and see if they could expedite the return process. Translation: they don't employ enough people to process returns in a timely manner and MS can't/won't be bothered to interface with their own warehouse on behalf of their customers. Ordered early to make sure they arrived and fit for event in October, 2021. 1 pair of the sandles that were worn a total of 4 times have torn apart. I will not use this company ever again due to incredibly unethical return policies. I ordered shoes in October. Three pairs were shipped, one was backordered. The backorder date continues to move into the future. At this writing in December, I still have not received the back ordered pair. However, I returned one of the pairs that were shipped to me in October. I would assume that my refund would be promptly posted. After calling and emailing with the company, I am told that my refund will not be posted until AFTER the backordered pair is shipped, whenever that may be, because they consider this an open order even though it is their fault entirely. I'm NOT EVEN CHECKING ONE BOX! The Customer Service BLOWS... The Supervisor Katie is unprofessional and pissed me off so badly, I was unprofessional in return.They sent my shoes to my billing address and not my requested shipping address. When I called the company to ask why, she adamantly stated that was the address they had. Funny, but I offered to return her "your order has shipped" email, showing the correct shipping and billing address...all she kept saying is... "I will refund your money,goodbye ." I ordered a pair of snow boots for winter. These shoes have a wonderful non-slip sole, perfect for winter weather, are fully lined, comfortable and top-quality. The brown color, however, is so dark, it looks black. I checked the box and it says brown, but you might as well order the black because it is not a true brown at all. I ordered a wide width, hoping I could add thick socks, but they are not as wide as many other "wide" shoes, so that will not be possible.
