As a hopeless migraine patient in my prime, I was tossed from clinic to clinic nationwide, on every…read moreexperimental possibility to keep the migraines at bay, but none were effective. I became disabled in 2002 due to Chronic Migraines, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, and undiagnosed Fibromyalgia. Dr. Brown helped me get through the early stages of Fibromyalgia where every other doctor I had encountered said "It is imaginary, you are seeking pain meds" or you are not a candidate for this or that treatment. Doctor Brown was the first one to see the connection between the different systems which were not getting along with each other, and he gathered his team to help me. That was in 2002. He saved my life, has helped me deal with pain management and other sub-issues which have popped up from the Fibromyalgia, and has always been crystal clear that pain medicine is addictive, he can put his patients on a sabbatical from the medicine at his discretion if he feels you are abusing your medication or show addictive behaviors. He even has each patient sign a statement that it is understood before you get to walk in and talk with him. Our first appointments were very lengthy. He visited me in the hospital after my child was born, and helped me transition from bad doctors to his care. He checked absolutely every human system in my body, blood levels, bone weight, prescription medications, and which other Doctors that I was seeing. He helped centralize my treatments and as each new issue with my system cropped up, he was always quick to check into it or refer to someone who could. In fact, in this past visit, I mentioned that my back was sore after lifting a suitcase. I thought it should have felt better after the previous three weeks of rest. He said, "Let's get that X-Ray'd and look to see what is going on." Within a week, we advanced to MRI, CT, Bone Scan, and a referral to an oncologist for a biopsy! It was the best and quickest follow-up by any team of doctors I have ever seen. My point is that another person on this site complained that Dr. Brown only saw them for five or ten minutes for some appointments. Yes! That is good news if you are at that stage in your relationship with Dr. Brown. It means he has figured out how to treat you, you are doing well on the treatment prescribed, you are simply there to check in with him, and receive your next set of prescriptions if they have to be hand-written. The majority of the medications that I take on a regular basis are on a yearly automatic refill from s mail order service which makes our appointments even faster in some cases. He is gentle and kind, always remembers my family members names and situations as if we had coffee every day. His staff are effective and efficient to a fault! Every single copy needed is is made, every letter "I" is dotted and every letter "T" is crossed for patients to easily submit their own insurance forms. As I mentioned before, many of my medications are a once-a-year fax into an automatic delivery service. It is astounding to watch the front desk attendant (and office major Domo) "Bonnie" handle new check-ins, phone calls from patients, make new appointments, copy new prescriptions, take payment, get forms signed, and keeping files straight all while smiling and greeting each patient and representative by name. She even knows the service animals names. (Service Animals are welcome, but of course if your dog destroys anything, you should repair or replace it, right?) Working in the back are Polly and Catherine who keep the medical side of things smoothly working for Doctor Brown so he can concentrate on what he does best - diagnose, treat and prescribe treatment for people with Rheumatological issues. If you have any questions about the treatment your doctor is giving you, and you can't look up side effects (like the methadone a patient mentioned in a bad review here that she suddenly stopped and experienced withdrawals... Yes. You will if you do that.) and you cannot talk to a pharmacist at any local pharmacy... And you don't know how to use Google... Call and ask your doctor's staff about what your should do... Do that before you post a lot of seemingly bad things about a doctor that a lot of us are crazy about, and hope he never retires. Thank you.

Dr. Brown has been my Rheumatologist for several years. Dr. Brown does not bill insurances and requires cash payment prior to services. I feel that he has an understanding of the disorders such as Arthritis, Fibromyalgia and similiar conditions so I am willing to pay the price to have him review my issues.
