Dr. Carkin has been my rheumatologist since her time at Minor & James (so many years) and changed my life. I shudder to think how I would manage my autoimmune disease without her. She truly deserves her Best in Seattle awards. Standing with her are all the staff and medical assistants who make my care there seamless. They called me once because I needed to reschedule a visit. I remembered to call back right after they closed. A day later, they called me again, just like that, saving me from my forgetfulness. The infusion center is also amazing and does some high level magic to get everyone scheduled, then moved around when things change. Everyone is nice, courteous and understanding of the issues that bring us to the clinic, so you don't have to explain, ask people to wear masks or anything else. In a world where chronic illness makes you feel abnormal, I feel normal and welcome at TSAC. I've seen several practitioners there and they are all equally good. Yes, you absolutely need another physician's referral to be seen there. TSAC has a great reputation and their services are in very high demand. I'm very grateful.

The same thing happened to me that happened to Josemary T. son. Her review was 7/8/24. My doctor…read moresent a referral at the beginning of September 2024. I received my 1st text on 9/6/24 stating that I had been referred and that they would text or call me with updates. I was so relieved and felt that this was a good sign. I needed to get in to see them due to this being my 3rd compression fracture. Then on 9/16/24, a second text came in stating that they were following up on my referral and that this was the last step before scheduling. Then on 9/27/24, I received a letter in the mail stating they received my referral but regrettably, we do not have the staffing to meet the referral demand and are unable to schedule an appointment at this time. Are you kidding me? Why would you do this to people? It is cruel to not just tell prospective patients at the very beginning that your practice is closed and you're not accepting new patients at this time. I would respect that and move on right away but no you have to string them along like you are going to eventually make an appointment for them. You have people who have wasted a month of their time (in Josemary's case it was 2 months of her time) waiting patiently to hear back from you. This is not compassionate in any manner. Yes, I saw the response that Josemary received stating "We are dedicated to providing timely, patient-centered, quality care and regret that this was not the experience described". This is not acceptable for a medical facility. In the future, you need to start being upfront with prospective patients and start telling them your practice is closed. The thought crossed my mind that you are picking and choosing what patients you want to take on which is unethical in my book. Please don't write me a Dear John letter trying to justify what is happening at your facility. Thank you
