They offered a cortisone injection not because I needed it, but because that's all they know how to do. Anyway, I was amazed at Karen's deep knowledge of body mechanics. She had a clear understanding of the structures involved and how they connected to other parts of my body. She understood what was happening in my body. Best of all she was able to help me reduce the pain and improve my movement and functioning overall. She worked on me directly and taught me how to work on myself. I continue to use the things she taught me on a daily basis to improve my posture and physical functioning. Plus she is a super nice and caring person. Before purchasing the Groupon, I emailed the owner, who told me not to worry and that she would extend the classes according to my needs. When I requested an extension, replying to the original email, the owner refused to extend the classes beyond one year, saying that she had thought I would use them in that time frame. She then stopped responding to me. It is her right to make business policies, but very bad form to go back on a promise, especially a written one. I was happy that Groupon was professional and gave me a credit for unused classes.

I was a long-term customer there, with a regular weekly schedule and LOVED the class itself and my usual instructor. The owner very recently downsized to a small studio which made for some really inconvenient changes that are really hard to ignore. The first is parking, the old location had a decent amount available, but the new space in the State Theatre building does make it challenging if you're commuting. The second is the price hike. I used to get my 5 class pass for barre only for $55, which was a steal. Totally would have been okay with a reasonable update to align with competitors but it was hiked to $100 for a 5 class pass, which is really unreasonable in my opinion. Granted this price includes reformer and barre, but for someone who doesn't do reformer classes it's definitely not worth it. The last piece is the class times. They used to have a wide variety and I always had at least 4-6 people in my 5:30p classes. The new space only has classes until 12-12:30 which is truly not helpful for people with jobs! Overall, still a huge fan of barsculpt as a class but not a fan of the new space or business practices.
