It's a great practice because the actual PTs spend time with their patients and really focus on explaining exercises and movements. You don't get a different aide each time like some other places. I highly recommend Portsmouth PT!

After multiple visits I wasn't getting much better so I decided to stop and try another avenue for my pain. I can see a need for physical therapy in many situations so this is not the reason for the 1 star - it is their billing practices that I have come to detest. After stopping in April I continue to receive bills from them for every month through July for the same 5 appointments. The amount kept increasing for these same visits - they claimed it was due to my insurance but when I called my insurance they said they had made my plan clear as to what they owe and what I would owe to the clinic. The back and forth is irritating and I am not saying my insurance is blameless but the responses I receive from the clinic are nonresponsive and without much of an explanation - they simply don't know what's going on. I can understand one bill that would need to resolve differences between insurance and patient payments but to continue every month for the same 5 visits several months in the past is simply incompetence. Overall I would go back for the therapy itself but because of their billing practices I would never go back again.

I started going to Bonnie at the Dover location in May and cannot tell you how much of a difference…read moreshe has made in my life! I injured my hip in a hard fall on a snow and ice-packed trail in Dec 2021. I went through the standard diagnostic and treatment routine of x-rays, MRI, a steroid injection into my hip and regular PT with a great therapist at a hospital-owned PT facility. That PT was what you usually expect - minimal soft tissue manipulation (usually with some weird spoontype thing; not even with the therapist's hands!), ultrasound, lots of physical exercising on bikes and strength training with weights and machines. Although my therapist was great, the PT didn't help. I found Lighthouse PT and scheduled an intake. One session with Bonnie and my hip felt better - I couldn't believe it. Lighthouse PT's approach to treatment is completely different from traditional PT, and honestly, I was skeptical at first. Bonnie's treatment regime consists of light touch, very slow soft tissue manipulation (almost like Bowen work) and no machines! She explained that we had to get my inflamed muscles and tissues to calm down and work together in my hip joint as a unit. She said that until everything got calmed down, released and working together, that the standard "exercise and strength train the heck out of it" PT I had been doing before was only making it worse. When I leave a session with Bonnie, I'm able to walk normally and my pain is almost gone. I'm so used to the traditional, hardcore PT with machines and weights approach that it doesn't seem possible that Bonnie's gentle approach could really make that much of a difference, but it does! I'm so grateful that my insurance covers this and that I found Bonnie at Lighthouse PT. I can assure you that you will notice a difference in pain and functionality after just one session at Lighthouse PT, and that their treatment practices are nothing like what you've experienced before with traditional PT. I wish I had found Lighthouse PT (and Bonnie) months ago!

We came for a consult, and she spent more than the originally scheduled hour with us. Oops, we didn't mean to cut into the next client's time space! First greeted at the door by Bekah. She has a Rottie too. Argo is surrounded by lovers of the breed; he in turn greeted Bekah with his trademarked big smooches and Rottie lean when she rubbed near his nubby tail. Nearly knocked the poor woman over. LOL We filled out the new client form while waiting for Dimitra. Really nice, easy going lady. Got right down on the floor with Argo, after laying down some cushy pads and started an extremely thorough exam. Had a long discussion about his past medical history, and current issues, which don't just include the recent amputation. He's got a lumbar spine problem (acupuncture and chiropractic last week helped) and the extra strain on the remaining front leg is exacerbating a previous injury. Dimitra found that he's got a groin pull, which is making his back pain worse. We think it happened when he slipped at the top of the backyard ramp after a heavy rain - did a full on Bambi-on-ice spread eagle. My poor stoic beast! Someone else was using the water treadmill, which is the goal, to try strengthen his back and foreleg without gravity making it more difficult. But Dimitra suggested some cold laser therapy in the interim, to try help with the pain and inflammation. He gets heat laser and massage at our vet clinic on Friday. Will go back next week for more cold laser and try the treadmill. Might take a few (okay a lot) treats and/or tennis balls to get him in the tank. Hopefully I can get some video of that! ;) As we were going out, Dimitra came out too. Her next client was waiting in the car - smallish chocolate Lab with hind end paralysis. She lifted the lovely creature out of the car, went down on one knee with the dog bent over the upright knee, squeezed on either size of the lumbar spine and got the dog to void her bladder. It was fascinating to see. You don't think about having to do things like that for your pet, unless you see it, or are faced with the situation. Hope not to ever be in the situation (knock wood), but I said that about bone cancer too.

I called Kate at Hampton PT for an OT recommendation/referral. When I described my injury she said that she could provide treatment. What a difference!!!! The therapy that I have received at Hampton PT (by Kate) is by far superior to the previous treatment at Exeter. At Hampton PT, I get a full hour of treatment that include at least 30 minutes of intense treatment by the therapist. The results have been significantly positive. At Exeter, the treatment by the therapist was minimal; maybe 20 minutes of low to moderate treatment by the therapist. The difference is like night and day. I only wish that I had started with Hampton PT at the onset of my injury. Two years ago I was treated at Hampton PT for a herniated disc. Again, the treatment I received as awesome! I avoided surgery and was able to return to all of my activities (Golfing, gardening, etc.) I can't write enough positive comments about Hampton PT. Thank you! Thank you!
