After suffering from severe back pain for almost 3 years, I followed the general route of seeking care through an orthopedic office (Access Sports Medicine). This resulted in wasting thousands of dollars and valuable time (4+ months), with no results or improvement. After months of expensive and ineffective PT, I was told steroid injections or surgery would be the next best option with little to no confidence from my physician that the recommended course of treatment would result in improvements. I am SO grateful that I found CJ PT before I went through with the steroid injections as it could have resulted in a vicious cycle of injections, never actually solving the root of the problem. I learned more from CJ PT than I ever did from my physician; mechanical pain is different from chemical pain and should not be treated the same, herniations can heal with corrective movements, and steroid injections can mask the pain leading to further injury. The team at CJ PT was incredibly informative, educated me on ways to protect my back and help it heal and slowly introduced strength exercises to help get me back to baseline. Dr. Jill is phenomenal. She gave me the tools I needed to begin healing my body and got me back to playing with my kids and reintroducing activity back into my life. It has truly been one of the best experiences and I could not recommend CJ PT & Pilates enough.

I've got to ding them, but just a little. The problem was billing. They have some separate…read morecompany in California that does the billing and they gave me the runaround. I thought the billing people came across as being kind of shady because: 1. They told me the dates that they didn't have a copay for. 2. When I told them I had receipts, they changed the dates that I supposedly hadn't paid. 3. Then they said that they checked with the doctor's office and suddently I owed for one visit instead of three, and it was one of the oldest where the receipt would be hardest to find. 4. So I went to the PT office, and the billing person there checked into it and said that I had paid for all the visits. I still think Sport & Spine does a really good job with the physical therapy, but their billing people were horrible. So Sport & Spine gets five stars for the work and one star for their billing practices. Since it's the quality of the care that matters most, I'm calling this a four star place. If you go to Sport and Spine, save all those little scraps of paper that they give you. Someday when you think everything is done, some billing company in California may surprise you and send you bills for money that you don't owe.

After multiple visits I wasn't getting much better so I decided to stop and try another avenue for my pain. I can see a need for physical therapy in many situations so this is not the reason for the 1 star - it is their billing practices that I have come to detest. After stopping in April I continue to receive bills from them for every month through July for the same 5 appointments. The amount kept increasing for these same visits - they claimed it was due to my insurance but when I called my insurance they said they had made my plan clear as to what they owe and what I would owe to the clinic. The back and forth is irritating and I am not saying my insurance is blameless but the responses I receive from the clinic are nonresponsive and without much of an explanation - they simply don't know what's going on. I can understand one bill that would need to resolve differences between insurance and patient payments but to continue every month for the same 5 visits several months in the past is simply incompetence. Overall I would go back for the therapy itself but because of their billing practices I would never go back again.
