This guy is a crook. I took my car in for a fender bender, he gave me a quote, then proceeded to call me with some cocktail and bull story about how he had to double the price to deal with a potential window problem. I agreed initially then called him back immediately and told him I wasn't going to pay him that. He insulted me and was very unprofessional. My wife's car started leaking oil again. They checked the car and said the oil pan has a small leak. A few months ago, my trusty 2007 Toyota decided to start having exhaust issues. I promptly took the car to the dealership (where its service had always been performed), and was promptly met with a $4,000 estimate. Mind you, the value of the car currently isn't much over $2,000. The dealership looked at me with those shark-like smiles and offered me that amount as a trade-in if I wanted to take home a new vehicle that day. Crying, out of both humor and also frustration, I took my car home and contemplated my options. I got Marvin's name from a friend of mine whom also has a car over ten years old and she raved about the service she received at Marvin's. I called him up and he had me bring the car over the very next morning. His quote? $675. Since then I have had my breaks done, a repair due to a pot hole (thanks, City of Chicago), and also maintenance related to emissions. Each time Marvin and his staff have provided stellar service at a fair price. He is realistic and tells you what repairs are essential versus what can wait (and for how long). He always walks you out to your car at the time of pick up and shows you repairs done under the hood or below the vehicle. I have never had a mechanic do that for me; ever. The appreciation and respect I have for Marvin and his business surpasses what I would've ever predicted when I called him for the first time a few months ago. Historically I have always gone to the Belmont location but for some reason only Irving Park is showing up for me on Yelp. Anyway, I moved to Chicago about three years ago and was worried about finding a good mechanic. A coworker recommended Marvin and I have no regrets. He has always been responsive, completed work quickly, and prices seem to be great. I have referred 2 friends here since and both have had great experiences. Marvins employees will drive you where you need to go after dropping off your car and he always shows you what work was completed. A number of times when I went to pick up my car I found it up on the lift. The first time my initial reaction was to be upset as I thought work wasn't done, but I soon learned he did this to show me the work his guys did.
