Marvin and his wife are great people. Great service and very fair pricing. Nothing but good things to say.

I've been bringing my car, a 2010 mazda 3, for more than 10 years to do maintenance and repairs. It's been excellent, Mr Marvin and his wife are very accommodating and explains the work that needs to be done well. I recently had a winter service and he showed me what's under the hood and looks really clean almost like brand new. It was recommended to me and I'm thankful. I would recommend it to others too. read more

Marvins Auto Repair is independently owned and run by Marvin and his wife. We moved into the building next door two years ago. The same group of mechanics have worked there since before we arrived and there is a family atmosphere in the shop. Although they are always busy, I have dropped my car off early in the morning and picked it up the same day on two separate occasions. I have not always had the best experience with auto repair shops which is why I am enthusiastically writing this review. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this shop! You will receive an honest assessment of the needed repairs, pay a very fair price and drive away with the confidence of knowing the work was done right read more

What a relief. Brought my 2006 truck in for a second opinion on an expensive repair and was pleasantly surprised by the warmth and professionalism exhibited by everyone at Marvin's. They diagnosed and performed the repair for a very reasonable price and on time. Their communication was also excellent. Overall, an excellent experience. read more

I HIGHLY recommend Marvin's auto service for everyone. This is a family owned business and they're honest hard working people with reasonable pricing and very friendly. I've taken my car here twice now and it's been an amazing experience both times. Thank you Marvin! read more

I've been taking my car to Marvin's the last couple years and I'll never go anywhere else in the city of Chicago. I recommend them to anyone that'll listen. Quick, friendly, and fairly priced. They always SHOW you what the problem is without the standard repair-shop sales pitch. They're the best. read more

There I was. Abandoned on the side of the road, my car wouldn't even tremble. What is a girl to do? Luckily a kind stranger that happened to be in the area said to me, "You haven't heard of Marvin?" No, I said. "Marvin's the guy to go to. Marvin's Auto Service" So I googled the shop. And I made my appointment. And MARVIN HIMSELF assisted me. He came to me on the side of the road, I looked up at him with wet, thankful eyes. "O h h . Marvin. Thank you." I hope he sees this. And I hope he remembers me. read more

This guy is a crook. I took my car in for a fender bender, he gave me a quote, then proceeded to call me with some cocktail and bull story about how he had to double the price to deal with a potential window problem. I agreed initially then called him back immediately and told him I wasn't going to pay him that. He insulted me and was very unprofessional. Dont go to him, the guys a jerk and he's untrustworthy. read more

Very fair pricing. He does great work. I have had two major breakdowns in the last 6 months. Both unrelated to each other. I failed my emissions test due to a faulty sensor. I took it to Marvin's and not only did he fix the issue he took the car for an emissions test to make sure it would pass. Great customer service. read more

I called Marvin's Auto Service on a Monday and they got my car in THE NEXT MORNING! Their staff is so incredibly friendly, the prices were very reasonable, and they had fixed my multiple issues with my car within 36 hours. I cannot recommend this place enough. It's worth it. read more

Marvin's is incredible. The check engine light in my car went on and I took it to Marvin's. In ten minutes, they had checked it out, diagnosed the problem, and solved it. I hesitate to mention this next part because no one (including me) should expect this, but they didn't charge me a penny! This was yet another in a long series of examples where Marvin's has provided fast, excellent, and honest service. They have earned my family's loyalty over the years and I'd recommend them to anyone, anytime and anywhere. read more

My wife's car started leaking oil again. They checked the car and said the oil pan has a small leak. Marvin's said they can repair it but also said that it is a small leak and keep monitoring it and add oil as needed. The car is 13 years old and my wife does not need to drive a lot. We really feel as if we can trust this place as they could have said that we really needed to fix the car. We also had the privilege of meeting Mr. Obama their friendly office cat. read more

I've been going to Marvin on and off for 10 years now and even took a small hiatus to try a different auto shop that was more convenient to my home, but now I am back and staying for good. Marvin is always respectful, kind, courteous and transparent. He takes the time to explain things and make sure your questions are answered. In the auto business, it is hard to know who to go to that you trust, but Marvin proves to be genuine and trustworthy time after time and his prices are reasonable. I come away feeling good that he has worked on my car and it usually doesn't have problems until it needs to be serviced again for normal wear and tear stuff. I would highly recommend Marvin's with confidence. read more

Always reasonable and can do a wide range of service and repairs! Been coming here for years, tried others for various reasons with used cars and Marvin's is the best all around place for your vehicle needs. read more

I took my car there for an oil change and was charged $75 for synthetic oil change and when I got home and checked to look at the oil it was still the same oil as before, they didn't change the oil but chaged oil filter thinking i wouldn't notice. I'm so thankful for Marvin and his family! They have been amazing. I started bringing my car here for tune ups and oil changes two years ago. There have been a couple instances where I didn't totally understand what was going on with my car and they could have taken advantage of that or tried to up-sell me on something. However, they have never done that and have always made me feel super comfortable. Recently, I had to get my bumper and blinker replaced and they went above and beyond! Finished my car as quickly as possible, kept me updated, kept the price lower than most other shops would, and even got my car cleaned! Lydia is also incredibly knowledgeable and such a friendly voice to talk to! I will keep coming back! read more

I highly recommend this place. I already knew what was wrong with my car, and I was putting off getting it repaired because I was quoted an exorbitant amount. I put a message out to my friends for suggestions, and Marvin's was a common answer. They fixed two issues for the same cost that I quoted for one. They have a new customer for life with me. read more

A few months ago, my trusty 2007 Toyota decided to start having exhaust issues. I promptly took the car to the dealership (where its service had always been performed), and was promptly met with a $4,000 estimate. Mind you, the value of the car currently isn't much over $2,000. The dealership looked at me with those shark-like smiles and offered me that amount as a trade-in if I wanted to take home a new vehicle that day. Crying, out of both humor and also frustration, I took my car home and contemplated my options. I got Marvin's name from a friend of mine whom also has a car over ten years old and she raved about the service she received at Marvin's. I called him up and he had me bring the car over the very next morning. His quote? $675. Since then I have had my breaks done, a repair due to a pot hole (thanks, City of Chicago), and also maintenance related to emissions. Each time Marvin and his staff have provided stellar service at a fair price. He is realistic and tells you what repairs are essential versus what can wait (and for how long). He always walks you out to your car at the time of pick up and shows you repairs done under the hood or below the vehicle. I have never had a mechanic do that for me; ever. The appreciation and respect I have for Marvin and his business surpasses what I would've ever predicted when I called him for the first time a few months ago. If you are looking for an honest mechanic with reasonable (cheap) prices that takes pride in their work, this is your garage. Highly recommended. Thank you for the A+ service and experience Marvin! read more

I can not believe the workers at this facility. Most rude and obnoxious people I have ever met. First off I walk I the shop and they tried to joke and said "no whites aloud" second it took me 3 weeks to fix a simple problem . I would never recommend this company to anyone stay far far away unless you want racial discrimination !!!!! Honestly my 3 year old son could fix my car better then them. I never write a Yelp review and for me to go out of my way to write this should tell you something . I hope this company closes its door they are dishonest and liars. read more

Best auto service/body shop I have been to yet! I literally NEVER write Yelp reviews. They went above and beyond to make sure I was satisfied. They got me my car back and ready A LOT sooner than I expected. They did more work on it than I thought they were going to and fixed a few dents and scratches for free! They gave me a ride to where I needed to go when I dropped it off as well. They didn't complain when it took me a few extra days to come pick it up. Marvin was very friendly and helped me with some other automotive questions/issues I had that I was not expecting him too. I was very impressed to say the least and will be definitely be returning for all of my car needs. Thank you!!! read more
