Everyone including Dr. Sklenicka where very nice, answered all my questions and listened to my concerns during my visits. I had a consult at a different oral surgeon several months ago and just wasn't comfortable when leaving so I never went back. Consult and surgery all within a week which was very convenient for me and my work. I tend to bruise easy but had little to NO bruising on my face, some bruising with the IV(to be expected). I iced my face to help with the swelling but also had little to no swelling! Took antibiotics and Ibuprofen as directed so I truly wasn't in ANY pain just some muscle soreness. Never woke up during procedure. Although I do suggest they should manually weight patients rather then just asking. All in all, I am very very happy with my experience with this office and my results from having all 4 wisdoms teeth out. Don't be a chicken! It's a relief to have it finally done and over.

On April 1, I underwent extraction of two wisdom teeth at North Florida Oral &Facial Surgery with…read moreDr. Scott Sklenicka. Following my consultation, I was provided with an estimate of over a thousand dollars. The office correctly charged the contracted in -network rate for the office visit and X-rays, but charged me the out of network, max price for the 2 wisdom teeth extractions. I immediately questioned the amount of the tooth extraction because my dental plan provides an approximate range of $170.00-$250.00 for this service, at 80% of covered charges. The staff member acknowledged that the estimate was likely incorrect and instructed me to speak with the front desk personnel on my way out. I proceeded with the extractions and, upon checkout, spoke with the front desk regarding the charges. I was informed that this was the rate they charged for tooth extractions, despite North Florida Oral & Facial Surgery being an in-network provider under my dental plan. When I questioned this, I was told, "This is how we charge." Therefore, it is unclear why the office applied the proper in-network pricing to part of the visit while charging me the maximum out-of-network rate for the tooth extractions performed during that same appointment. After recovering from the procedure, I contacted my dental insurance and was informed that I had been charged incorrectly. Once the claim was finalized, my dental insurance determined that the in-network contracted rate for all the services was much less than I had paid and I was owed over 800.00 in a refund for overpayment. According to my dental insurance, payment was issued on May 29, the Explanation of Benefits (EOB) was sent on May 30, and the payment check cleared on June 1. On June 10th, I participated in a telephone conversation involving my dental insurance, myself, and a representative from the oral surgeon's office. During that call, the office representative stated that someone would contact me by the end of the day regarding the EOB and the refund owed to me. I never received that call. On June 11, I contacted the office again and was told that a refund check of over 800.00 had been mailed on June 5. I was instructed to allow seven to ten days for delivery. I waited until June 24 to allow sufficient time for the check to arrive, but I still had not received it. I left a message for the billing department and then called the office and spoke with the office manager. During that conversation, she stated that the refund had been approved on June 11 and mailed on June 12, contradicting the previous information I had been provided. When I informed her that the check had still not arrived, she stated that she would contact the billing office and call me back. As of the close of business today, June 24th, I had not received any return call. It has now been twelve days since the refund check was allegedly mailed, and I still have no resolution, no refund, and no consistent explanation regarding the status of my funds. SECTIONS 456.0625 AND 408.12 OF THE FLORIDA STATUTES ESTABLISH REQUIREMENTS FOR HEALTHCARE PROVIDERS TO REFUND PATIENT OVERPAYMENTS WITHIN 30 DAYS OF DETERMINING AN OVERPAYMENT HAS OCCURRED. THESE LAWS APPLY TO LICENSED HEALTHCARE FACILITIES AND INDIVIDUAL PRACTITIONERS WHO FILE CLAIMS FOR REIMBURSEMENT WITH GOVERNMENT OR PRIVATE HEALTH PLANS. Based on the facts described above, I am deeply concerned about the billing practices employed by North Florida Oral & Facial Surgery. At a minimum, the conduct appears deceptive, evasive, and inconsistent with the obligations of an in-network provider. I WOUND NEVER RECOMMEND THIS PRACTICE TO ANYONE! This review reflects my personal experience and is intended to help other patients avoid similar billing and insurance issues.

I had a very difficult upper molar removed here that another dentist prior in Charleston declined to do. He wanted me to see an oral surgeon and I thought I would try Jax Emergency after my husband recommended them to me. Dr. Arrow was patient, took his time and rocked that tooth out in it's entirely with no breaks. Took his time and used rocking persistence- something most dentists do not posses anymore with the rush to high priced cosmetic dentistry procedures. I worked for years chair-side in dental offices in my younger years I can really appreciate application of great basic practices as well as talking a patient through the procedure calmly. I also appreciate in this day and age of greed in the medical industry to not have the price be the motivator to the doctor and practice. I like that the actions were whatever was best for me and my situation. I only wish they did root canals on molars so I wouldn't have to go on a search, but I've been referred to 3 endodontists for consideration for the next procedure. Front desk was very helpful and I was seated shortly after arrival. The assistant was efficient and friendly, updating x-rays after looking at those previously taken at another office earlier this year. Smart move. You don't want a dentist working off of old x-rays. Not ever! Another note I'll go in bed at names was I recognized her from being here a couple years ago which says a lot about the doctor. Many assistance turn through cause of doctors that are too difficult to stay with. Yes, some dentists can be rude to their assistant too! My disappointment at the cosmetic over health $$$$ direction dental care has taken can be noted! Implants implants implants are not for everyone nor can everyone afford seniors who want to preserve their teeth and have good health rather than focus on only appearance get any cost. So much pressure to spend thousands and thousands of dollars - patients shamed into signing financial agreements unrealistic for many situations. I was so upset over the pressure for the plants. I waited too darn long to get a second opinion. I still need 2 root canals, but I'm glad I came here and talked to Dr. arrow about my options that suited my own needs and budget. I'm so glad I did. Take control of your health. I do recommend this doctor and staff for a no-frills office with a kind efficient staff and knowledgeable Dr.

Throughout my interactions with him, he consistently carried himself in a manner that was dismissive, condescending, and lacking in basic courtesy. At no point did I feel that he viewed my concerns as valid or that he approached his responsibilities with professionalism. Instead, he behaved as though providing care was a favor rather than his duty. I entrusted him with redoing a crown specifically because he assured me that the result would match the original. Had I known this would not be the case, I had no issue returning to Dallas to have the work completed by the original provider. When I informed him that the color of the replacement crown was incorrect, he responded with an inappropriate and insulting remark, stating that my teeth were "yellow" and that the crown matched. In 42 years, I have never had a dental professional, or anyone, make such a comment. In fact, I routinely receive compliments on how beautiful my teeth are. I conducted myself with professionalism to avoid jeopardizing the license and career I have worked extremely hard to build. However, I will not subject myself to further mistreatment. I will not return to Dr. Rodriguez for any future care, and I intend to file a formal complaint regarding his conduct and the quality of treatment I received. I do not want him involved in my dental care in any capacity moving forward. I'm glad I was live streaming the whole appointment.
