I've been happily attending Maynard's auctions for 15 years, and am happy to add a bit of balance…read moreto a ridiculously skewed set of review data. Number one: All auction houses have a Buyers Premium on auctioned goods. This occurs without exception across the globe, as auction houses are not charitable institutions; they are businesses. At an auction, the goods will be sold to the highest bidder, and there is no guarantee that your goods will circumvent fundamentals, and sell at an appraised or retail level. In fact, unless the goods are highly coveted, you can be reasonably assured of a disappointing outcome. Given this, no auctioneer would give a guarantee on a positive outcome, but would venture a conjecture; something that you cannot take to the bank. Auctions serve the purpose of liquidating masses of goods quickly. If you feel slighted that the clapped-out tat you dragged down to the auction didn't generate a king's ransom, then this is only a confession of your naïveté. As an example, let's examine the sale of a Persian rug. Depending upon its pedigree, it isn't uncommon for a rug to sell at auction for a tiny fraction of its retail value. This is normal. If the rug was an Isfahan signed rug, it will sell for considerably more than the bazaar grade rug, but unless it is rare Isfahan rug, or several bidders go mad, it will never sell for more than the retail rate. The bottom dropped out of the antiques market a decade ago, and there is not even a hint that it will recover anytime soon. This means that the once highly coveted Scottish Victorian chest of drawers you bought for $2K at auction in the late 90s/early 2000s can barely be given away for $100 today. Lastly, and this should be painfully obvious, a little research will go a long way towards staving off disappointing outcomes. If a set of Noritake China sold for x amount of dollars at auction two months earlier, you can be certain that when you trot your set in that the audience will not spontaneously burst into a standing ovation when yours appears up for bids. Like the laws of Physics, common sense always prevails over infantile wish fulfillments.

No issues whatsoever. If you are bidding on an item I suggest you look at in person and then place your bid if it suits your fancy. Photos are not the same as looking at an item in person. That is true no matter if it is an auction, a hotel or some vacation destination, photos are only 1/2 the story both good and bad ..

With its extremely poor website previews, unremarkable lots, and dilapidated building, Love's has gained a reputation for being out-of-step with the times. All of these features can be attributed to sloth and being miserly. A completely ineffectual website will direct you to the mountains of unremarkable antique brown furniture, threadbare rugs, and cheap china all of which is about as valuable as a small stack of kindling. They also liquidate property from businesses that have become insolvent, so if you require a well used walk-in freezer, faeces contaminated bar stools, or a 100 litre pizza dough mixer, this should be your first port of call. The building is ramshackle, and dearly in need of maintenance. The property is strewn with garbage. Parking during public viewings is horrific. Love's hasn't been a serious contender for over a decade, and it's telling when you see the building, and view the lots. For the uninitiated, they might think that they're getting a bargain by placing bids on the clapped-out, mostly damaged lots here, but when you factor in the 20% buyers premium-and the fact that most neophytes overbid at auctions when faced with competition-you will quickly discover that better bargains are now to be found on Craigslist. I wouldn't waste my time on this one.

Walked down a long hall to find a person behind plexi at a desk area. She is yelling at a young girl, asking where she is going. For a break, the girl replied. No, you are not going for a break, woman replies. There were other people there and for me, if anyone spoke to me in that way, especially in front of customers, I would walk out. Very disrespectful towards staff. Gave my 7 original paintings with a print out of the history. This was NOT mentioned on the lots during bidding. It was not explained to me they would be sold in lots. All of this information is listed (in small print) on the BACK of the receipt that I signed. It should have been brought to my attention, before signing. I wasn't expecting a lot of money for these paintings, which by the way are very expensive, good quality and vintage, but $33 for 7 paintings is a total joke. I called twice to find out if my cheque was sent out and both times, was told, they are working on it. Finally today, I called and apparently, its being mailed today. I told the woman, how unprofessional and deceiving they were, she argued. Yes, they have no control on the bidding, however, if I had known they were being sold, IN LOTS. I wouldn't have bothered. Was also told today, that they only are interested in Canadian artists. My grandfather was a famous artist in Switzerland for his whole life. I am insulted, my family is insulted. These paintings were in my family for over 70 years. These people are shady, unprofessional and would not recommend and waste my time driving there.

My friend and I were walking towards the skytrain when we spied upon this place and popped in. I have heard about it and followed its IG though I didn't pay attention to its location then. My friend was enthralled by the fossils and stones. I was quite overwhelmed by the shop. It has lots of things and the space is huge. I like crystals as I use them for healing purposes. Plus they are pretty. I love the wide array of crystals and gem stones. I did buy some for myself and other friends who are into crystals too. I think the prices are quite fair. Now I know of another place to get crystals.

Sadly, very rude customers that cut you off, stop in the middle of aisles and talk louder than most. Also sad that children and running everywhere. Craziest was the frenzy at the clothing area...felt bad for the employees having to sort through clothing that didn't belong and of course the re-folding. Being from the Lower 48, I was hoping there was a gas station...not. Interesting that the hotdog and soda was $1.50 Canadian! Anyways, being a US visitor I won't ever come back. PS - The backing up into the parking spaces really slows traffic and blocks both lanes for everyone. PPS - The parking lot was full of trash especially cardboard boxes and shopping carts not returned to their stalls.

WOW..... I thought I would give these guys another chance...my mistake…read more My dad used to deal with these guys in the 80s and bought jewelry and silver bullion from them. Years ago he told me to check them out. I bought my first 1 oz gold maple from them about 8 years ago as a stacker newbie, and I trusted them because of my dad. I explained I was new to stacking to the salesman and he tried to sell me a collector piece with a higher premium, but I told him I was more interested in just standard gold maples. He sold me a 999 maple for what I later found out was the same price as a 4x9s maple. The one I ended up getting would be considered a cull based upon purity and condition However, I did not know any better at that time= a RIP OFF which I found out many months later after I became educated. I am a tradesman who makes about 100k per year and wanted to put about 10% of my income into silver and gold, and I was looking to buy from a trusted dealer regularly. Furthermore, I wanted to look at a used Omega or Rolex watch, so I came in after my shift (dirty as I had worked for 10hours). The lady I spoke with was condescending and made a slightly disparaging comment regarding my workhorse watch I was wearing which currently would be worth the equivalent $2500 in today's adjusted for inflation dollars. Back to the rip off maple cull-like maple.... I was not even allowed to choose the maple! Can you believe it???? I dropped about $1650 at the time (now it is worth over 7k) and I cannot pick my own maple? Are you kidding me?? After the condescending comment on my watch, and understanding the cull rip off at prices vs current out of the tube maples, and spotty vs good spotty-snotty attitudes from staff, I decided to not do business with these dudes.... (it cost them 100s of thousands in lost business). Today, Feb 21 2026, eight years later, I decided to give them another try incase they changed things for the better. Their website looked better so I thought they might be better. 1) had to wait on hold 10 min to enquire about junk silver (I never have done that with Chantou) 2) I was not familiar with their site and after finally picking up the guy snottily said the junk prices are on line with the inference I was bothering him with such questions. 3) Their junk silver prices are literally 10$ more for US 90% and about 3.5$ per face Canadian 80% vs other competitors that are actually pleasant Moral of the story....Even after 8 years, they are still a rip off and still are snotty as eff!
