Out of…read morecourtesy, I asked the man at the counter (who I assume is the owner) to hold it so there'd be no confusion. I then asked about some earrings since I'm allergic to fake jewelry. He didn't know if they were real gold and had to look it up. No issue there - until I wrote down the brand name to research later (I'm from Vegas, so I can't just come back). Suddenly, he told me it was "rude" to do that in a small business. Completely unnecessary, especially since he'd already told me the brand. The whole exchange was embarrassing and left me feeling unwelcome. I decided not to buy the ring, returned it to its display, and left. Later, I found out he even asked my sister if I had "walked out with the ring." Accusing a customer of theft after they politely put something back is beyond insulting. Plenty of great small businesses in Nashville - this is not one of them.

I had only had the chance to visit one other time in person back in 2019 until recently. The owner is as lovely in person as she is online. Very welcoming, friendly and helpful with suggestions. The shop is arranged beautifully inside. She has great taste as can be seen with the items she has chosen to sell - from clothing to jewelry, hats, home goods, accessories and carefully curated vintage cowgirl boots. No matter what you're looking for or your budget, you will find something here. The neighborhood is a great area for shopping, eating and walking around. Don't miss this place! Or if you can't stop by in person check 'em out online.

Because of the name, I guessed the Idea Hatchery was a shared workspace or a writing collective. It *only* took me [redacted] years to get out of my car and walk in to see what's what. Flanked by an antiques shop and an art gallery (if you've done Tomato Arts Fest you know right where this is), the collective's appearance is a bit nondescript but that makes the discovery all the better, no? Inside the threshold are eight uniquely (east) Nashville businesses. As an incubator, the Hatchery is a perfect spot to test out concepts and gain sea legs before opting for a bigger location or an expanded footprint. It's a great go-between from online/out of the house to stand alone brick and mortar. I believe this is the spiritual parent to the Shoppes on Fatherland. Right now the current occupants tend to skew a bit 'female' in what they do (fashion, art, etc.) but that's not to say that there isn't a lot for a number of demographics to choose from. Selfishly, I'm hoping that some sort of food/treat business takes up residence in the shops. Toffee? Taffy? Shaved Ice? I can keep going folks. Actually, an old-timey, regional candy store would fit in well. Boom. I just found your newest tenant. Sort of. East End has a lot of fun businesses to explore. Next time you're in the neighborhood, scoot just a bit past that (locally) famous intersection and get a taste of what the area has to offer. I think you'll enjoy what you find. At the very least, it's a nice way to pass the time on a lazy weekend day.

It can be daunting picking where to go since you have never gone into that city or know the market. I visited on March 21,2026 Also, there is the question of selection, price point, and condition ESPECIALLY when buying vintage pieces. I decided to check out The Hip Zipper because it is supposedly the oldest vintage store in Nashville and the prices from other reviewers said were fair to affordable! Selection made for the first stop. I was greeted by the lovely Gracie name suited her. She allowed me to browse quick to answer questions and showed me to the dressing room all while juggling other clients. The Hip Zipper has an ample dressing room for trying on. I think there is only one dressing room. However, in a pinch they might use the restroom. I must mention they do have a restroom which is lovely. I really love the layout of the store easy to survey every rack CLEARLY marked with what is there. The tags give additional help on the size and prices are CLEARLY marked. Please remember vintage does run smaller don't FORCE these garments to fit if you are having trouble PLEASE ask for assistance. I picked up two very fabulous dresses from two different eras of fashion. A sweater dress with amazing details and a matching belt dating from the 1940's to 1950's $ 52.00 and a late 1970's early 1980's dress for a mere $ 10.00! Although I wish I spent more time looking at accessories! There were a few purses that I was swooning over now I wish I had picked one up. I will call tomorrow and ask if I bought it would shipping home be a possibility. The Hip Zipper DEFINITELY worth a visit if you are visiting Nashville.
