I was in town for a long weekend, visiting close family friends who live in Edina, and they recommended I check out MartinPatrick3 while in town. As someone who lives in NYC, I was initially very impressed with the store itself as well as the level of service provided by the staff. Over the course of two days, I purchased a couple of items as well as made a large purchase on my first blazer. I felt cared for and waited on by patient staff, who helped guide me in this significant purchase! I was initially excited to support a small, local mens boutique as opposed to shopping at a big department store. The blazer I had purchased needed a few alterations done, and I was told by my sales associate that all in all, the alterations would take a few days and I would be receiving my blazer late the following week, or first thing the week afterwards. I felt this was a reasonable timeline, and I left feeling excited about my purchase. My experience with MartinPatrick3 post-purchase could not have been more different than my purchase in-store. After two weeks, and no communication from the store, I followed up with my sales associate, who communicated that there had been a delay and the blazer had not shipped yet. I was told it would be shipped out the following Monday and I would be receiving it by Thursday at the latest. That Thursday, nearly three weeks from the date of purchase, it had not arrived. Again, because there had been zero communication from the store, I followed up to inquire about where exactly my blazer was, as well as to express my disappointment and frustration with how long it had taken, and the lack of communication from their end. I spoke to a manager, Hoss, who offered a thinly-veiled apology, explaining that despite having been given a different timeline, they "had done their best" and there was nothing else they would be able to do. When I inquired about what else they may be able to offer since the mistake was on their end, I was expressly told "I don't see how that would help repair the relationship." All in all, his arrogant attitude communicated to me that I was a second-tier customer, and they had no desire to repair the relationship. My conversation with the store manager left a worse taste in my mouth than the jacket arriving weeks late. Frankly, it was not the kind of experience I expected when shopping with a local high-end menswear boutique. I followed up with my sales associate and expressed my frustration and disappointment, and asked me to pass along the contact information for the owner, as I felt the need to communicate how I had been treated. At the time of this publishing, it has been nearly a week and I still have not received any sort of follow-up from MP3. At the very least, I had expected to receive an email or phone call from higher management, but the lack thereof only solidifies what I had been feeling all along: that I was not an important customer and my concerns were unimportant. It is a real shame, as I loved the store and the products being sold there, but after being treated by higher-level management this way, I will make it a point to avoid supporting their business in the future. read more

My favorite boutique in Minneapolis (and they don't even sell dresses or lipstick! Can you believe it?) I absolutely love this curated store and could spend hours looking at everything from trousers to sofas and from tie clips to leather bags, stopping in between to smell soaps and snack on chocolate covered peanuts. The people who run Martin Patrick 3 really know how to make customers feel special. My husband has bought a few really nice suits and pairs of shoes here and they always roll out the red carpet, serving him Johnny Walker as they make chalk prints on the trousers. Seriously. We always leave feeling like a way poorer version of JayZ and Beyonce. It's the first place I go to get him any gift: belts, pocket squares, books, bar tools, shoe laces, high-end grooming supplies. I wish that the Martin Patrick 3 people could just art direct our entire lives. read more

A comprehensive men's store in a way that recalls old-fashioned department stores but with significantly narrower (and better!) aims for each shopper. I've never been in a men's clothing store like this. The store aims to provide clothes for every stage and need of a man's life. One side of the store starts with streetwear and as you make your way across the store you'll find custom made suits and shirts. In between are shirts, sport coats and athletic wear for every day wear. Each section only has a few brands, chosen with some obvious thought. In a way, it's a Trader Joe's to a department store's full line grocery store. (Though only in terms of food, not price.) read more

Okay. If you have oodles of money to spend, you might think this is a great place to shop. I went with a Groupon for a haircut at Marty's Mens Shop. I arrived about 5 minutes before my appointment time (after having to ask a salesperson for directions to the barber shop) and was told the stylist was running about 10 minutes behind. I browsed for a while in various areas near my destination and found the store cramped and crammed with merchandise. During that 15 or so minutes, only one salesperson asked if I needed any assistance. Many areas have aisles wide enough for only one person to pass, so if someone is already there, you have to find a different path to your destination. The haircut experience was generally very good. I showed my stylist a photo on my phone of the style I wanted, and he was quick to tell me he understood what kind of haircut I wanted (which was very different from the hairstyle I walked in with). I got a hot towel on my neck prior to a neck shave with a straight razor, and talcum powder lightly applied afterward. The hot towel before and the talcum after were very nice touches. I don't often go for a $50 haircut, so I got service that was in line with what I purchased, even if it was with a Groupon. I give the haircut 4 stars, but the overall experience in the store brought it down to 2 stars. Since I can't rate the salon separately from the rest of the store, the salon suffers. read more

If every other men's clothing store went out of business tomorrow, I think I might be okay with it because I could shop at martinpatrick3 for the rest of my life. This sprawling menswear shop offers the absolute best in clothing, accessories, grooming and haberdashery products, as well as miscellany like books, barware and office products. I come in to stock up on the necessities -- Baxter of California products, cologne and shoelaces for my Clark's -- as well as the occasional impulse buy (I'm a sucker for the Jack Spade bags they carry.) The staff is friendly and well-versed in the product, and never overbearing, which earns them all gold stars in my book. Plus, I love anywhere that offers a stiff drink while you shop. Great sales in the back pretty constantly, and really, the range of products comes with a range of prices -- it's as easy to spend $50 as it is to spend $500. Highly recommended for menswear aficionados, and the ever-growing population of men ditching Tommy Bahama and learning what being well-dressed is all about. read more

What's not to love about this place? Definitely Minnesota's hippest store, hands down. I love how the displays are designed and laid out. They are artful and creative. I love the music they play, very modern and groovin. (Lol). Many of the brands they carry are European and unique designers you don't see anyplace else. Really great clothes, shoes, and accessories. They have a beautiful display of home furnishings and interior design services. The possibilities are endless with the many beautiful interior design options they offer. I also love their body care and fragrances. Very beautiful and unique lines. They carry a large variety of Aesop, which is my favorite skin and body care line. If you haven't tried Aesop, I highly recommend it. They also carry a unique offering of fragrance; many of the scents are unisex, which is great that there is something for everyone. He has helped me every step of the way in building a wardrobe for the office and for play. He has been a great counselor in helping me define my style. He is honest when something works and when it does work. He is creative in finding solutions -- especially when you find something from the rack that you love but the rack doesn't love you. So...I was very excited to go to Martin Patrick. I had purchased a gift certificate online just so I would make the effort to go to their store. Bought it in November and decided to go "downtown" and use it today. The store was really well done. Walked in was greeted but left to my own devices which I like. Found a few things and was ready to pay for my purchases. Here's where everything went down hill. Sales associate was checking out a guy in front of me and did not even try to acknowledge that I was waiting. I'm a big believer that it is helpful to at least let the customer know that you understand that they are waiting especially if you are going to carry on a lengthy conversation. So, finally he was ready to help me. No recognition that I had to listen and wait while he carried on with the customer before me. Not that big of deal but the simple things make an experience. The associate then rang up my purchases and I handed him my gift certificates (I had 2). He then very rudely told me that I could only use one - one per customer per visit. What? How stupid is that? They were already paid for so what difference does it make. There is more that bugged me but it just kept getting worse and worse. In this economy, why would you piss a customer off for $25.00? Was so looking forward to going there and now I can say I will NEVER go back. read more

We pretty much go to Minneapolis to go to this store. They have everything. The clothes are very stylish, and they have beautiful interior design pieces. I love going here with my boyfriend because I get to be his personal shopper, although he only ends up buying one thing because the clothes here are quite pricy. There are custom suits, watches, cufflinks, bill folds, business card holders, shoes, bar necessities. They have brands like Vince and Ben Sherman. The staff is also very nice! While I personally don't buy much there, I felt the need to write this review due to the most recent experience I have had with MP3 in regards to my custom made suit for my upcoming wedding. I was extremely particular with what I wanted and due to my Type-A++ personality, also extremely hands-on...but Nick M. was not only super helpful, but he was also a true sport in putting up with me! Nick was so helpful with everything, all the way from picking out the fabric and style to alterations after the suit arrived. I knew I could trust him to get everything on the suit just the way I wanted, and now nine days from my wedding, I have one badass suit thanks to him. I came in on my boyfriend's suggestion to pick up a father's day present and I am totally WOWED. The salesperson walked me through the entire cuff-link selection very patiently as I hemmed and hawed and tried to find something for my very not-flashy and not-metro dad. But in the end it payed off. Found him a pair of subtle cuff-links that he might actually wear and also a few other vintage pairs that I may come back for myself. They have a great selection of pocket watches too! love this store and the employees were really nice and laid back. They worked with my budget and helped make it work. Highly suggested. read more

If there is a better men's store in the country, I haven't seen it. My wife and I were recently in MN for the weekend and I needed a pair of jeans because it was cooler then normal. We just happened to stumble into the store and from the minute we walked in, had a great experience. Amazing selection everything a man could want and top notch customer service. I live in chicago where we have plenty of nice shops, I use trunk club, and have used suit supply and stitch fix. They don't compare. I rarely write reviews but felt compelled. read more

This place is so darn cute and trendy that I wish I wore bow-ties. I stopped in here after a brunch at Moose and Sadies (therefore already in a gleeful mood), and this place took it to another level! I'm unsure how I haven't written a review for my favorite store in the Twin Cities but this place is beyond awesome. When I am in Minneapolis on weekends, this is one of the stores I have in the rotation (Mill District farmers market, Martin Patrick, Room/Board Outlet, downtown Macys). Sure, it's pretty high-end and high ticket but I occasionally score ridiculous deals in the sale room when it's and additional 50% off of already discounted (20%-90% off) prices. They also occasionally sell the floor models of the designer furniture at up to 75% off. It's still spendy even after the discounts and it's usually a little too low profile for my preferences...but what a deal. -One can get a cocktail or non-alcoholic (complimentary) when looking around. They have candy/snacks also -The apothecary items are lovely, constantly expanding. If you want a unique cologne, this is definitely the best shop in town (both for men or women). -They have really fun events where you can drink cocktails, eat hors d'oeuvres (again, complimentary) and meet designers or product developers, socialize. One time, they were offering haircuts. Join the mailing list. -the rewards program is pretty great. (spend $500/get $50 or spend $1000/get $125) Even if this store isn't in your price range, it's a great one to walk around, look at all of the neat stuff, get ideas about what you like or dont like, occasionally score a deal. I find the staff very friendly so you shouldn't feel too outta place. Even my 10 year old buddy loves this place. My only constructive criticism is that the expansion is almost overwhelming and I really wish they would've used the expansion to increase the apothecary product. read more

Lots of hip, cool stuff. Good service. Wildly expensive. Seriously - price tags are 3x what you'd think they would be.

I have mixed feelings because they were really nice at the store and have a good selection, and when the John Varvatos sweater I purchased fell out of the bottom of the store bag nearby (because the bottom wasn't sealed), someone returned it because it still had the tags saying it came from the store and they were nice enough to ship it to me. But I noticed it took over a week to get back to me and when it arrived the label/tag was missing and there's a hole where the tag was cut off. That suggests to me that the tag was still on there when the kind stranger returned it because someone was able to identify that it came from the store, and that someone who works at the store probably cut the tag off and wore it before mailing it to me which is maybe why it took a long time. It was enough of a sale that I don't want to deal with it anymore and will just get the holes fixed, but this is just a buyer beware. read more

MartinPatrick3 is quite possibly one of the very best men's purveyors of fine curated goods. I know, because, I have spent a lot of time scouring men's boutique's in major US and Canadian cities. It's no "UnionMade' of SFO (for apparel) or 'Hickoree's Hard Goods Store' in Brooklyn for hard goods, but somewhere in between. One of it's biggest strength's is that the selection is quite rounded. Fine well-fitting Italian formal pants, men's bar essentials, excellent haberdashery, good bag collection peppered with small eccentric and some not-so-useful items. However, woefully lacking is a good collection of proper formal and informal shirt selection as well as suits. This makes it a vary hard place to visit with higher frequency. There is so much room to bring 'New England Shirt Company' shirts, well fitting italian sweaters etc. I would love to see MartinPatrick3 extend their collection to curated fine alcohol and spirits as well, this is a market that no one is tending to in the TC area. It's got a very good rewards program and they will take returns with no quarrel or attitude, which is the principal reason I have comfortable spent many $$ there knowing that I can return an unused item if I did a second take on it in a few days. All in all an excellent store that I would never want to see go out of business. read more
