I have been coming to this place since January for medical rather than cosmetic reasons. I have an autoimmune disorder and cannot absorb/hold vitamin D well. At first everything was fine. Then about the past 8 visits or so I have gotten appallingly horrible service: having to re-dress and remind staff to turn on the tanning bed (at least six times), being told a bed was available in a few minutes (3 or so) and having to wait 15 (just be honest), and now this last time being told there would be a three minute wait and instead waiting 20 while seeing multiple customers who arrived after me be put in the bed type I requested ahead of me. My husband was put in a bed when they told him one would be available and exited stunned I had not even been served yet. Finally, I had enough and politely asked for a refund by phone when I arrived home. I was told that I had signed a contract before I could even finish the sentence. Yes. My end of the contract is to show up to get a tan. Their end of the contract is to provide me with a tanning bed as soon as one is available, and to turn it on after I get in it. Simple? You would think so. When I spoke with staff re: the refund I was interrupted repeatedly and accused of being rude to staff for leaving the salon without speaking to staff after my husband was finished with his tan (?!). This was a bit much. I guess I was being rude for refusing to wait until they decided to give me a bed when they felt like it (since there were plenty of staff on hand to deal with the flow of business present, and they keep a running list of who arrives when, this cannot be mere hapless stupidity at play here). My husband will be contacting our credit card company to dispute the so called "contract". I guess the way the Martini Tan contract works is: they take your money after you sign the dotted line that says you lay over the barrel and take it the way they want to give it to you, and if you don't like it you are the rude one. Incidentally I have personally witnessed staff there treat other customers in the same ways I have outlined here in this review, and I saw it again today when they couldn't turn on another customer's bed. This customer was nice about it. But I wonder if she will be accused of being rude when they do it for the 6th time and she doesn't smile when she asks staff to simply do their job, because as most mature adults realize, even the patience of a saint has its limits. Buyer Beware. read more
