Contacted a few welders from Yelp who had good reviews, experience working with stainless steel, and who didn't mind residential/small jobs. Jorge replied right away to my inquiry and was very responsive about when he would be able to come out and check out what needed to be done. He texted before the appointment time to confirm and also showed up on time. Jorge was pleasant, seemed knowledgeable, and seemed to really listen to what we wanted. (We had bought stainless steel outdoor cabinets for our grill and outdoor prep area, but the grill and side burner we got didn't drop in as seamlessly as another brand would have so we needed some customized pieces to make it look seamless.) Jorge told me when he would have his estimate ready (couple days) and then communicated it to me on time. We found it very reasonable, and he was able to turn around the work fairly quickly and on the promised date. He and his worker came at the promised time, installed the pieces (nicely welded) and checked in with us. Very communicative, punctual, reasonably-priced for custom work, and good quality. So glad to have connected with Jorge Martinez. Another welder who was well-rated on Yelp that we contacted never replied. I followed up with a phone call and text. He acknowledged receipt of both but never responded about the job even when I had said "just let me know if you aren't interested so I know to move on." I don't even know if George is aware he has yelp reviews but I don't care I'm going to leave a review regardless. I was frantic trying to find a stair guy that could custom build an iron stair railing. I had reached out to four separate companies (two I never heard back from and one gave me an estimate of $14k) when by some miracle I randomly came across Martinez Welding. Holy crap George is the NICEST guy I've ever spoken with and met. He came out and took measurements, always answered my calls and questions, just the kindest and most professional person I've worked with. The reason for the 4 stars has nothing to do with George but only a matter of design and time. I almost signed a contract with George but didn't because another stair guy was able to come up with design I had been eyeing and install sooner (and would include a temporary railing). With two toddlers I needed stairs installed ASAP and time wise going with the other guy worked better for us. Nonetheless George was phenomenal and priced so well! For any iron work/design I definitely recommend George. read more

We hired George to attach iron balusters we bought to our stairs which was not up to code (has big gap between railings that a small child can slip through). George came on time with his nephew which helped him cutting the balusters while he's doing the welding. The work took 6 hours including spray painting the welded joints. We were satisfied with his work. The only glitch was his nephew cut more baluster than needed so we couldn't return it, but George pointed that out and apologized for that which we appreciated. read more

I called George to repair 2 iron gates around our swimming pool. They are required to be self closing and over the years, they had begun to be misaligned and would no longer close easily. They were starting to come apart at the hinges and were loose where they attached to the stucco of our house. One of the gates had corroded where it went into the cement decking. George came to our home, assessed the problem and was able to fix the gates the following weekend. His work surpassed our expectations. He not only fixed all the problems with the gates, but even painted the areas that he worked on. You couldn't even tell where he had cut the iron and reattached it. The gates now work as if they were new again. His fee was reasonable and fair. I highly recommend him to anyone who needs metalwork done. read more
