I went in today to get a few pants tapered and when he was explaining everything to me, he saw I didn't fully understand everything so he did a pair of pants right on the spot and allowed me to witness the process. It is a lot of work!!! His prices are such a bargain compared to the time he spends. He was super patient and took his time to show me the art in what he does and that's shows a lot about his character. The work he did on my suit pants was amazing but his character and personality matches his talent. He has much knowledge in what he does and experience to back it up. Mr. Martinez is an alteration genius! My husband and I have been on a crash diet for our daughter's wedding and had a combined weight loss of 100 lbs. Needless to say, our wardrobe needed some major overhauling. Mr. Martinez made everything fit like it was made just for us. If we had found Mr. Martinez before I purchased my gown for our daughter's wedding I would be wearing a Martinez original to the event. Martinez Tailor.Shop is bar none the best Tailor shop in all of Stockton. Ive gone to them all. Nacho provides excellent customer service in a timely manner and if your lucky, may even sing for you. Nacho is an old world tailor having honed his craft over several decades and the end result shows! I took three pairs of pants in for my wife and when I brought them home she was mad, thinking he hadn't done the work till she tried them on because his altering job matched the original seems exactly. My only regret is not coming to Nacho to have my dress fixed/made to begin with. I had a dress made for a musical group I am in and the person who made our dresses did a horrible job. He completely screwed me! I went to make a sweater of mine shorter and he charged me $150! He said it was very complicated and difficult. The guy should have set prices on a sign in his store. He said it took him about 4-5 hrs. Regardless, he charged me about $30 an hour! He completely money hungry. He takes advantage as much as possible. And talks so damn much. read more

I am a short man, only 5'1" in height, so finding a pair of jeans that fits in both the waste and legs is difficult. Nacho resized two pairs of jeans so they fit my short legs and I am happy with the quality of the stitch. It's worth the gas money (or bus fare) to come down to this shop to have pants worked on. This shop was okay. The owner didn't disclose what the price of the alterations would be beforehand but he completed them within the timeframe. Would have also appreciated suggestions on what he felt should be done. All in all, I got 3 suit jackets altered , each one I needed the area around the buttons slimmer. $75 in total for the service within a week. Not sure if that's decent pricing or not. read more

Disappointed in the overall service I received from Mr. Martinez. I took my wedding dress there in January, and received it in a timely manner. It was very pricey for it to be hemmed, but I was willing to pay for a job well done ($380). I then took my daughters flower girl dress to be hemmed at the beginning of March. Mr. Martinez had it for 25 days. He was able to complete the job in one night, only after I went in to his shop upset that it was taking so long and my wedding was in 2 days. He explained that he was having personal issues that were interfering with his business. While I am empathetic, business is business. He tried to charge me $180 for hemming a flower girl dress, but dropped his price to $60 after I told him he did it for $55 for a bridesmaid with a more difficult dress. read more

Mr. Martinez is a pleasure to do business with. My husband and I took our son's suit jacket in on a Tuesday, for sleeve alterations. Mr. Martinez had it ready Friday morning, as promised. The job he did was flawless. The price was fair at $25.00. This included removing the buttons that had fake buttonholes in addition to a ton of useless stitches that went around each button! Why do suit makers do this??? When we picked it up i was surprised to see all those buttons sewn back on and impressed by the fact that even the lining looked better inside! You can tell he loves and takes pride in what he does! When we got it home and our son tried it on, he couldn't help smiling! It fits perfectly and he will look quite dapper for prom!
