Expect no productivity. Bring a book. You can try to call ahead to see how far behind she is, but you will probably be told to come in on time for your appointment. I wish she would adapt her scheduling to accommodate this, but after several years with her, it hasn't changed. Office management has changed. Even ownership has changed. Time management is still poor. Quality of care is a solid 5+ stars. You will bleed out or miss a full meal waiting though. Therefore 1 star for time management. That averages out to 3.

My son was referred by our insurance to nurse practitioner Laura Slippy in April for an ongoing medical issue. She prescribed medication and made a referral to an office with a long waitlist. She said she would provide care until then. The earliest specialist appointment we could obtain is in November, so she had continued managing his care while we waited. Without any warning or discussion, she stopped responding to refill requests from the pharmacy and became unreachable through messages. When I finally reached reception to find out what was happening, I was told that because my son had been referred, she would no longer provide care for this issue, no warning or plan for the withdrawal symptoms his medication can cause. I was told the clinic manager would call me, and then the receptionist hung up on me. At one point I actually asked the receptionist if everything was okay or if we had done something wrong because the hostility I was encountering was so unexpected and unlike anything I have experienced from a medical office. Most concerning is that my son was left without his prescribed medication and without a continuity-of-care plan. We were given no advance notice that the NP intended to stop prescribing it, no appointment to discuss discontinuing it, and no explanation from a clinician about how his symptoms should be managed until he can see the specialist. Unfortunately, this was not my first troubling experience with this provider. I was also referred to Laura Slippy for ADHD medication management after previously being diagnosed by a psychiatrist. During my appointment, she told me that I could not have ADHD because I was not a "12-year-old boy" and recommended that I stop my medication without tapering. After stopping it, I experienced severe symptoms and ultimately sought urgent medical care from another provider. I understand that providers may decide a medication is no longer appropriate or that a specialist should take over a patient's care. My concern is not that a provider made a medical decision I disagreed with. My concern is the absence of communication, advance notice, and a safe plan for ongoing care, combined with extraordinarily rude treatment when I tried to find out what was happening. Based on our experiences, I would not feel comfortable trusting this office with my family's medical care again.

Monique Garcia listens and knows her stuff. She does have a strong personality that could come across wrong or bossy, but I was thankful how assertive she was in treating me. She didn't want to just give me a pill and send me on my way but she listens and diagnoses and does investigation work to find out what's really wrong! I also like that she's not opposed to eastern medicine like acupuncture or chiropractic services. Some doctors mock that idea where she encourages anything that works! Her office staff isn't too bad either. The waiting room is clean and the office is nice. They even take blood draws there and the nurse looks like one. She's older than me, dresses professionally, doesn't have tattoos or piercings and makes you feel warm and fuzzy. If you need a doctor try her out!

This is a complaint about Dr. Tajiri's unwillingness to help with rescheduling after she canceled…read moremy appointment. I was hospitalized in November 2022 for a significant issue that needed follow up. I was new to the area and still needed to establish a primary care physician. That same month, I made an appointment with Dr. Tajiri; the earliest available appointment was in late February. Due to doctor shortages in the Monterey bay area, it is simply difficult to get into see a physician for any chronic issues; the nurse practitioners at MoGo made it very clear that they would not see me for my condition and I even had issues getting in with Doctors on Duty for this issue, hence it was exceedingly important to me to be able to see a primary care physician. I made numerous phone calls to numerous different agencies, and with my health insurance, the late February appointment date with Dr. Tajiri was the best I could do, even though I had a more urgent issue. About two weeks before the appointment (which was set for Friday), I received a phone call from Montage stating that Dr. Tajiri wanted to reschedule my appointment because Dr. Tajiri was going to start working from home on Fridays; she would not do telehealth for my type of appointment. I was fine with this, but then was told the earliest I could reschedule would be the month of June. I explained my medical situation to the staff members and to staff supervisors, and requested that they speak to Dr. Tajiri and see if she would make an exception or work to schedule me in at some other time. I was bluntly told no and that the earliest she would see me was June. It did not matter that I had scheduled my appointment in November or that I had waited several months, and it did not matter that I had a significant medical issue where I need a prescription refill that I could not get any other doctor to refill (thankfully I got on the cancellation list of another doctor, and that doctor immediately refilled my prescription - not to be too dramatic, but for me, it is a life-saving medication). How Dr. Tajiri handled cancelling on patients so that she could work from home just came across to me as callous and selfish; working from home is a convenience. I have no problem with it in general, but believe that as a service provider where other people, such as myself, rely upon and count on that service, Dr. Tajiri should have made reasonable accommodation exceptions while she transitioned to working from home on Fridays rather than just outright canceling my appointment without even discussing it with me.
