Moved to the area recently and was in need of a push mower for my small yard. Found Marty the Mowerman via a google search. Contacted him via Messenger and set up a time to stop by. Needed my snowblower repaired too so told him I'd drop that off. We met at his shop and he gave me a good deal on a nice mower and gave me a basic estimate for the repairs on the blower. He got back to me quickly and even dropped the blower off 2 days later. Very happy client! Oh and the spices he gave me are excellent as well! I would highly recommend Martin Services. I recently moved and was in need of a snowblower. I had driven by the Martin Services "Mowerman Marty" shop many times on my way to work and decided to set up an appointment. I always like to support local businesses when I can. The appointment process was straightforward and he was able to get me a time that day. Marty was great to work with and demoed multiple machines for me. He provided honest recommendations without being pushy. He explained how each machine had been tuned up and any parts that had been replaced. He let me take my time looking at the machines and did not rush me at all. The pricing was clear and in the right price range based on the market research I did. To top it all off he was able to deliver the machine free of charge and also added in the smoked sea salt, which is excellent. Very pleasant to deal with. We paid for delivery and Marty contacted me and was only running a little behind because he tested the snow blower before delivering it and he went back through the carburetor as it did not start as well as he would have liked. I couldn't get my snowblower to work, fortunately for me my neighbor had already called Martin to pick up his snowblower for repair. So I went out there and talk Marty, he was more than happy to help me out, he took my snowblower fixed it and I had it back within 12 hours. Just in time for the big snowstorm ! He also cleaned it up for me, it looks like a brand new snowblower when I got it back. He is very nice and friendly, also gave me a sample of his smoked sea salt that he makes himself. Great guy! Just make sure you have him give you an estimate before allowing work to be done on your machine. He tried charging me 165 for a carburetor fix on a weed eater you can buy a new one for that. Marty is simply a Great American. I am new to Madison and was given a snow blower that did not run. I tried to get it started but it just wouldn't keep running. I found out about Marty on Yelp and gave him a call. He was very nice and gave me some things to try over the phone. I asked Marty if I still couldn't get it running could I bring it to him? He said because of where I lived it would be better to take it to a different shop because he didn't want to take someone else's business. Wow... anyway I couldn't get it running so I drove it over to him and dropped it off. He took a look and said give him a few days and he would have it back to me. That was in November and its been a beast all winter. Also he gave me a sample of his BBQ rub and smoked sea salt. Very good spices that work well with just about anything, meats, eggs, veggies etc.. also he sells them at Piggly Wiggly so give that a try! read more

If you value being treated with respect and customer service, Mowerman is NOT for you! I dropped my snowthrower off for service without incident. The instructions at his place were relatively straight-forward. After a day or so, he got back to me and things seemed to be progressing normally. He gave me an estimate (which we thought was quite high) and after a few back and forth where we told him we wanted to go with his "blower service", that's when things started to go off the rails. We communicated exclusively via text. See for yourself how the insults just flew our way... Him: I'm willing to accept 400 and we can do the deal today I have plenty of machines for 250 they're not two Stage their not 9 horse, it's not a garage sale sorry, do you go to Farm and Fleet and tell them what you willing to pay? Me: OK. Thanks we'll come pick up the old one today or tomorrow. Him: I actually order the parts for you for the black 1, it's that plus 250 plus your machine? If so I'll take 300 plus your machine. Wow, great service on my lawnmower! Highly recommend. Marty Picked up and delivered my mower and it looks like new.

Used Martin to repair a snowblower that wouldn't start. In the end, the snow blower works but I don't think I'd recommend to a friend. Contrary to his website, which states in 3 different places that pickup & delivery is free, I was surprised to see a $20 delivery charge on my final bill. He informed me that just applies to car repair, and that the website must be wrong. There was several small things like that that ended up making this a 2 star experience, instead of a 5 star. Though like I said, the snow blower works fine now so that's good, and Martin himself seems like a nice enough guy. read more

I couldn't be more pleased with Marty's services. Dropped off my mower on Saturday afternoon; done by noon on Monday. Other places would have been at least a week. I needed a cable; Marty fixed that and with my permission fixed everything else it needed. Mower works like new now - except it's like 20 years old. I'm sure if it wasn't the weekend, it would have been 24 hr turnaround. That sure helps when the mower goes down amidst a summer when the grass seems to need mowing every 3 days or so! read more

Have a 12 year old riding mower that all of a sudden would run for 10 minutes then the engine would stop. Could not get the mower to start until it had cooled off for about an hour. Took the mower to Martin Services and Marty found the faulty part and replaced it. Mower has been running great since. Even feels like it has more power. Great job! read more

If I could give zero stars I would. I paid this crook $180 to fix my mower. It started at his shop but wouldn't start when I got home. He refused to do anything about it or make it right. Don't make the mistake I made by dealing with this place. I bought a used riding mower from him. It did not cut the grass even. He told me to cut it from each direction to get it even. I guess I didn't see the dummy sign on me when he said that. When I pushed the issue he said he'd put on an anti-scalping wheel for $50. Gee why didn't it already have one? Dummy me had him do it. The mower still does not cut the grass even. He made a comment to me "what did you expect, you should buy a $1000 mower". Steer clear.... read more
