It stands majestically just back from the street and you may be a little overwhelmed by its size, trust me, that feeling will become pretty intense when you get inside. There are aisles devoted to sauces, dried fungi and seafood, woks and steamers and dumplings - this supermarket really does have everything. I personally love the fresh section towards the front. There are always lots of vegetables and herbs that you can buy in bulk for a ridiculously small price (several clumps of baby pak choi were less than $2), and you'll also find some exotic ingredients like abalone and winter melon. If you aren't really looking to buy then I recommend you at least have a look around. Head to the dried fungi and seafood aisle - it is actually incredible. There are exotic mushrooms that resemble coral with really bizarre names (pigs ear mushrooms are a prime example) and there is also dried octopus and squid that hang in plastic bags. While you may or may not choose to buy anything to cook with any of the food inside, this supermarket is truly extraordinary and very fun to explore.

It's a snooty fashion industry thing that is part of a much bigger story, but suffice to say I used several bad words in that first season. Today things are much different (fabric suppliers approach US - yeehaw!) but I still use Davisha. Davisha specialise in wool, cashmere and cotton, shirt and suit/coat fabrics. They have a gorgeous range and whilst the price can sometimes be high, the totally service justifies it. We use their beautiful range of men's shirt fabrics to line the pockets of our denim shorts and jeans. We've also made cropped jackets and coats from their wool and wool/cashmere fabrics. Davisha are open to everyone from a local tailor to students to wholesale fashion labels. Definitely worth a trip or ten.

Price range is also quite diverse, with the bulk of it sitting at a high price point due to the quality. After carefully selecting a package of furniture during the Black Friday weekend, with both a friend and the salesperson, Sandy, present, I was provided with a quote. Sandy verbally assured me that the quote -- including complimentary delivery and storage -- was valid until Monday. Sensible enough, I thought. Fast-forward to Monday, I call to finalise the purchase, only to be informed that the complimentary delivery supposedly expired the day before. How convenient. This directly contradicted what I had been told; and my friend, who stood right beside me at the time, can attest to that. When I attempted to discuss this blatant discrepancy, Sandy's response was a dismissive, "the decision by my director regarding the delivery fee is final." Translation: We said what we said, but now we're saying something different, and you'll just have to deal with it. If you value retailers who negotiate in good faith, honour their own words, or show even a hint of transparency, let me save you some time - Trit House Hawthorn is not that retailer. Buyers, consider yourselves warned. Your money, and your sanity, will be far better spent elsewhere.

Last week, as I was gently moving the table across the kitchen floor, one leg completely snapped and broke away from the base of the table. After contacting Trit House,I was told that " this type of damage " was not covered under their warranty, and I would need to fix it myself. I have to wonder exactly what type of damage would be covered ? Upon closer inspection of the damage, I realised that several dowels and bolts were actually missing. There were empty holes where these parts should have been. Given the table was over $4,000 and is only just over a year old, I am appalled at this company's decision to NOT back their products, or supposed warranty . Suffice to say, I will never buy from them again .

It's a little hidden gem of the Melbourne coffee scene, you won't find it on a main street, but…read moretucked in right near the Carlton and United Brewery in Abbotsford. This is really a destination cafe because if you aren't into Vic Street shopping, then there is very little reason to venture down these streets, but oh my it's totally worth it. I came across the team here at the Melbourne International Coffee Expo in May 2012 and since I come every couple of weeks to pick up a fresh bag of their delicious beans, which are roasted next door. The team does an amazing job delivering the final product, in an industrial setting. They know their product and are passionate about it. Craig Simon, their roaster was a competitor in the 2012 Barista Cup - so they've got excellent pedigree. They've just added food so you can have snacks / lunch with a decent hit. So there you go - I've just spilled my secrets and shared my favourite place in Melbourne for coffee. #yourewelcome.
