After giving a $5000 retainer for my disabled son there was a giant lack of communication as well…read moreas when I found out that what he was involved in had already been handled by my sons friend who went to jail for the crime as well as paid restitution . I called the firm and let them know. My only reason for getting legal representation for my son is because he has a traumatic brain injury and was used by someone he knows to be with him as he committed a robbery. My son did not take anything and did not touch anyone or anything . His friend told me that HE went to jail and paid restitution to the person HE robbed . I only got my son legal representation due to thx fact that he had never been in trouble before and I didn't want any issues for him IF any were to come up . Finding out that the case had been taken care of I called and was pulled around in circles. No one had told us anything prior so me telling the firm that the case was closed I know 100% it's closed. There's zero reason for anyone to come after my son . The party that was robbed got what they wanted from the one that robbed them I feel very aggrevated that it didn't matter what I said all that mattered was the money I paid was staying as if there was a huge reason for what was being done when in actuality nothing was being done . I'm all for getting paid for work being done but when money is kept for NO reason the firm is pathetic. period

Apparently she can't do math either. Everything that everyone's saying is true. Your little post about Yelp messing with your reviews is a lie. The truth is YOU SUCK and no one's falling for it. But keep posting it on almost EVERY BAD REVIEW! Trying to lie, again.... 25 times! Photos attached. AVOID AT ALL COSTS! They don't even deserve one star. This "law firm" and "Lawyer" Stephanie Lake are ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE! DO NOT HIRE THEM!!! The lawyer is rude, unprofessional and doesn't do her job. They have been "helping me" with my disability case and have done absolutely nothing but send me the same paperwork I get from Disability directly, and just add a cover letter. They NEVER contact you! I haven't spoken with, or been contacted by, anyone from their office since September of 2023. It's now 2025 and I had to call them! I've called Stephanie twice, years apart, and she NEVER called me back. The office staff is the rudest I've ever dealt with. The woman I spoke to was rude, talked down to me, wouldn't let me talk and when I did get a word in she just yelled over me. It was a horrible experience. Then, I finally get a call from Stephanie today and she's a total B*TCH. All I wanted was an update on my case because I have NEVER RECEIVED ANY INFORMATION from them. Since 2021. NOTHING! And that's when her head exploded and she went psycho. She started yelling at me telling me everything was my fault. She lied and said I hadn't been turning in my paperwork, which I had. She literally went nuts. I think it's because I figured out the scam. She had nothing to show me because they hadn't done anything about my case. She didn't even know who I was. They take cases and then do as little as possible. Then she FIRED me as a client, wouldn't let me speak, and then HUNG UP ON ME! Like a child. She's supposed to be professional. Is that way she should be treating her Clients? She's crazy and should be nowhere near a court room. I was going to her to help me and all she did was make things worse for me. I have a very serious mental health condition and Stephine should have know that if she actually read my case. I don't need her and her crappy office people making me feel worse! In closing I just want to say AVOID THIS LAW FIRM AND STEPHANIE LAKE. Rudest, most unprofessional group of people I've ever encountered. They don't do their jobs and they're rude as hell on top of it. When you're sick and trying to get disability you need someone compassionate on your side. She IS NOT that person. I beg you to find someone else. Oh and report her to the Bar of Arizona. I am!

Mr. Kahn assigned my case to his associate Krystal Ahart who was a very bad and, rude, ignorant, not professional and extremely incompetent!! They fictitiously served me with a bill ( $950.00 ) demanding more money besides what was agreed in the signed agreement which I paid already. They never answered my emails or questions pertaining to my filing. James Kahn then proceeded with withdrawing himself from my case before my meeting of creditors which is the most important meeting after he was paid in full!! James Kahn appeared with me because I told him it's in the agreement and I paid for him to be there . While at the meeting James Kahn never represented me correctly and let a creditor ask many questions not pertaining to the bankruptcy which hurt my case in front of the bankruptcy trustee. Then handed me another bill for $300.00. James Kahn never objected to any questions which his job is to protect me. I feel very strongly that James Kahn and his associate hurt me in my case and haven't received any discharge as of yet. I have made a formal complaint with the Arizona bar and investigation has been launched against James Kahn and Krystal Ahart. It has been an utter nightmare trying to work with Eric Schmidt and his law firm "Schmidt Law…read moreGroup". I first met with paralegal, Alvaro Vasquez, who I found to be highly personable and professional, so I signed with the firm. I thought the firm only took 30% of the settlement as payment, as most attorneys do.. Mr Schmidt took 45%. Meaning he took almost 1/2 of all the funds before paying the bills. Sadly, I made huge mistake not meeting Eric Schmidt in person prior to signing with the firm. When I originally came to discuss my case, I thought I would be meeting with Mr. Schmidt. I was wrong. Al Vasquez basically stated Mr. Schmidt stepped out of the office, and wasn't available. I wish I would have seen that as a red flag, yet with hindsight I see my error. The next time I called the Schmidt Law Group, I was told Alvaro Vasquez no longer worked for the firm, and spoke with Eloisa Garcia. Eloisa had me running all over town collecting all my medical records and bills. She told me it would be much quicker and save Mr. Schmidt money which would lower the costs in settlement. With hindsight I realized this was totally unprofessional of Schmidt Law Group to do. It wasn't my responsibility to do the work of a paralegal. I don't remember how much time passed, yet soon after submitting my medical bills and records, Eloisa stopped answering the phone. No one else returned my phone calls or emails. Months went by with no r communications. I started leaving telephone messages weekly, along with emails. Then suddenly, one day when I called someone answered, and then every time I called the law group there was someone new answering the phone. If anyone did answer the phone messages either didn't get to Mr. Schmidt, or he chose not to return my calls. I really just wanted to get an update on the status of my case and became concerned when no one answered the phone. It also became obvious Mr. Schmidt appeared not to be able to keep any of his staff. I also want to point out was that some of the paralegals working for Mr. Schmidt were extremely rude, and unprofessional. Most had no idea who I was or what my case was about. I believe it took about two years before I actually spoke directly with Mr. Schmidt. When I did speak with Mr. Schmidt, he was often rude and abrupt. When I attempted to complain about how my case was being handled, Mr. Schmidt attacked my personhood. My case took four years to settle. I've dealt with the legal system (civil cases) in the past. Never did I experience anything like this. There are so many other attorneys in Arizona, if you're searching for an attorney you might be better served elsewhere. I personally believe all clients should be heard and be treated with dignity and respect. This wasn't my experience with the Schmidt Law Group.
