I called in an order at 11: am, I went to pick it up at 11;15. There were 5 orders. I was going to have them deliver but 2 of the orders had the lunch special and they do not deliver those! I went to get them at 11:18, the pizzas were done and boxed on the counter, they were still making the sub. In the meantime at least 4 other people got waited on and left. I asked when my order would be done, she then went to make the salads, its now 11:25. Finally the sub sandwich is done but she's still making the salads. . 11:35 everything is on the counter, I asked them to give me new pizzas these were cold, they said there warm, No, I want new. I ordered 3 drinks, I had to make them I asked for a drink carrier and they said they don't have those and to put it in a plastic bag!!! If I would have known they would be this bad I would have taken someone with me . The chef salad that was one of the orders had little to nothing in it other then lettuce and cost $12.01. Online order Beware!!! Placed an online order over the weekend and said I need it delivered. However after waiting over an hour called and was told by a woman that it was on its way. Liar! Called again after another 1/2 hr spoke to a manager was told it's been there waiting for pickup! WTF then to add insult to injury manager had audacity to tell me it cost $2 more dollars to have it delivered, really it was your fault yet I have to pay! Well now I'm telling everyone I know to not go here and go to whiffle boys instead! Lost customer for life hope that pos incompetent liar employee gets fired!!! read more

Eaten here many times, but have only just now ordered the pasta. I picked up spaghetti and meatballs as a late last minute dinner. It was delicious! For only 11 it was a large portion and came with mini breadsticks. Will definitely check out more of the pasta dishes in the future. read more

Ordered for home delivery recently. Delivery was prompt and courteous. Placed order for wings. Indicated on order requested BarBQ Wings and received hot wings. Disappointing! In addition the ingredients on pizza very scantily distributed over the inner2/3 with none on outer aspect. Pizza sauce lacking as well. Not first Time this has occurred. Thick crust tasty but lacking ingredients. Have eaten at the location once and very pleased with food and service. Not satisfied with the inconsistent preparation and presentation. read more

Ate here many times and had excellent pizza, calzines, and subs but never had a salad from here. I ordered a Caesar salad last night and it had to be worst Caesar salad I ever had. Old soggy iceberg lettuce with a bland dressing. It was premade in a clear plastic container and I assume it had been setting in the back of the refrigerator for many days if not a week. Loved the online ordering... Pizza and raviolis $26.. special should of gotten free breadsticks on Sunday.. that didn't happen. Food was cold all of it! Not impressed. Came through town on our way home from vacation about 6pm on a Sunday and they were the only non chain restaurant open in Murphysboro. They were swamped with phone orders and pick up orders but the young lady handling the door was great. Friendly and accommodating even though it was insanely busy! This pizza joint is probably the best value pizza in Southern Illinois. I've never been disappointed with their pizzas, so much so that I've never risked having anything but their pizza. Additionally, their dessert pizza is great. The cinnamon and apple is an easy go-to, but, and I'm surprised to be saying this, I think the peach is actually better. If you don't know whether to get one or two pizzas, go with a desert pizza at a fraction of the cost of another regular pizza. read more

I have given this restaurant chance after chance after chance after chance and they have only gotten my order right once. The first time I ever ordered from this disgusting place, I ordered a Philly cheese sandwich and it only came with one layer of meat that didn't even cover the length of the bread. I took one bite and noticed that it was all bread and took it back for a refund. And at the window... In the MIDDLE OF A PANDEMIC I heard them fighting over who was going to eat it after me. Tonight I ordered an Italian chicken salad with bread sticks, they showed up without the salad and offered to take the price off when she's back to Martel's or to have someone come bring it. So I initially told her to take it off but not even 3 minutes after she left I called Martel's to have them bring my meal. My call was ignored 5 times well before closing time and with no confirmation that I got my money back. This is a joke of a restaurant and I'll never order from here again and will never let a friend that I care about order form such a place. read more

Martels was one of my favorite places for a slice. The past few times the pizza was either burnt or raw. My latest experience is the place of business using my credit card to charge me three months later for my last visit. I called to ask why and got a fishy story. Results are I had to cancel my credit card to prevent any other fraudulent use. I encourage anyone else that has used a credit card with them to check your banking statements. One order was only partially ready when promised & when the other part of the order was ready, the first item was cold. I was more than a little bit weary about stopping at this place. The outside didn't look promising and the inside solidified my opinion. They didn't do much as far as interior design goes, but there also wasn't a line and I was starving. My husband and I ordered a medium Hawaiian pizza with no ham on one half (I'm always the difficult one). We waited about 10 minutes and they brought our pizza to our table. I immediately opened the box, scooped a slice of pizza and shoved it in my mouth. It was crazy hot, but hit the spot and was only $12. Manicotti and subs are good, pizza is just "okay." Had an issue with them back-logging our debit card info. on Mondays for a couple of months - THEN charging a big chunk of $$ all at once! My wife liked to eat there on Mondays, so we had to contact them numerous times to get straightened out - made us a little gun shy to go here unless using a prepaid card. ??? They aren't supportive of some of the local school fundraising programs either, which is a real shame in such a small community! First that comes to mind is their neighbor, St. Andrew... I live in the local area of Murphysboro and have tried all the other restaurants and none of the pizza here gets any better than Martel's pizza. Their hand-tossed is what I've ordered before and it tastes like it was made with quality ingredients. I noticed a certain equilibrium between the dough, sauce, cheese, and meat, which caught my attention. Typically most places have little crust and lots of cheese or little cheese and lots of sauce. One of my favorite pizza places in the area. They really put the sauce on the pizza and that's exactly what I like. It cost a little bit more, but why would you settle for less? You want cheap pizza, go buy Little Caesars... If you want REAL pizza... Get Martels (Murphysboro), Italian Village (Carbondale), or Quatros (Carbondale)... This time specifically we asked for warm alfredo sauce (three times, including upon receipt) and it was freezing cold. We ordered garlic bread and received cheesy bread.
