If you don't drive then White Cross Vets is brilliant as there's a bus stop just outside (with a…read morevery regular bus) and it's just a short walk from the town centre and the train station. If you drive, then there's plenty of car parking space nearby. The only location issue is there's no grassy area that's close enough for you to let your dog have a quick pee/poop before going in. The waiting area always seems clean enough, and there are things (like food, toys etc.) on sale here too (not so good if your pet is interested in them!). My kitty is very scared of dogs, other cats, people etc. but we've always found a seat that's far enough away from everyone for her to be a little less worried. The staff are all really friendly. I have a phobia around medical stuff, which unfortunately extends to vets too but all I have to do is ask for an extra nurse when booking my appointment (at no extra cost) and then there's somewhere there to hold my cat if I can't cope and have to go outside. I've only been a few times - when registering, for an ear infection (my cat, not me!) and for booster jabs, and each time the staff have been great at answering any questions I have, and offering tips to help me out. Despite both me and my cat disliking vets and feeling anxious, we both feel at ease (or as much at ease as is possible!) at White Cross Vets so I highly recommend it. As for prices, I would say they're about average. Hopefully I won't need to visit White Cross for any emergencies, or anything serious, but I shall update my review if I do.

I took my 12 year old collie x Chico to Wendy at King's Road Vets as he had been off his food (very…read moreserious for him!) and extremely 'wobbly' and disorientated over the previous 12 hours. By the time I took him to the vets I was convinced that Chico had suffered a stroke and there was no recovering from this. Wendy and her team (I think Helen and Natalie were the staff on duty) could not have been more reassuring and professional. Whilst explaining everything in english (rather than medical words I can't understand) they continued to reassure Chico & calm him despite his obvious distress. I was talked through every procedure that was carried out (blood tests, urine tests and x-rays which they even showed me)and also had the costs explained to me in advance so that there were no nasty surprises at the end of his treatment. Wendy and her team were very thorough & were so patient with me during my many phonecalls asking how my boy was doing! He's back home now, and although I don't know how much longer he'll be with me, I'm confident he's in good hands and will never take him to any other vet. I've just registered both my other dogs with King's Road too. Highly recommend them. In short they really do deliver what they promise. My boy was treated with absolute respect and care, and I was kept informed at every stage.

Women need to be very careful when attending the Sedgefield practice alone! I had to take my Mams…read moredog here while dog sitting as I couldn't get an appointment at her usual vet. When I arrived I fully explained her medical history and usual successful treatment which the vet quickly dismissed and ignored. He administered additional treatment without consulting me first. When I rang my mam to pay over the phone she asked why additional treatment had been required. At this point the vet became very hostile and aggressive on the phone and refused to speak to my mam anymore. After payment his behaviour towards me escalated he started shouting that he wouldn't have his skills questioned by anyone, I calmly explained this wasn't the case and he started shouting louder while gesturing and lunging towards me. At this point I left quickly as I feared for my own safety. After both myself and my mam made a formal complaint to clifton lodge about his behaviour l have not received an apology or any sort of response and my mam got a letter from them stating we should have informed them if cost was an issue which we had both already stated was not the issue, they also said 'sorry if you felt the vet was rude'. So once again clifton lodge the issue was not cost and your vet was not rude he was aggressive and I genuinely believe that he could be dangerous. Women should never feel that they are not safe to go somewhere alone and I would advise if any Women have to attend your practice they take someone with them if they are unable to go elsewhere. All this because someone simply asked about the treatment that been given to THIER dog! I can't imagine what he could potentially do to a woman who had actually 'questioned his skills'.

I have been registered with many animals for the last 20 years and have always found the consultations I have had with the vets to be a warm caring experience. There is limited parking available at the back of the surgery but this has never been a problem when I have been. The waiting room has plently of space if you feel the need to not sit beside a particular animal and waiting times are never too long. I regularly get appointments on the day I telephone. The cost of the appointments and treatment my animals have never been extortionate and I feel my pets really have been in the best hands they could be.

They have always given excellent advice and guidance in health and day-to-day care. They`ve been a consolation to me and my family through sadder times. They go above and beyond their duty as vets. It`s clear to see that each vet sees his work not just as a profession but as a devotion of love to all animals. I`ve seen small children and aged alike put their trust in this marvellous practice. From family pets to local farm stock all are treat with courtesy and care. I wholeheartedly recommend them and thank them all for their un-ending guidance and devotion.
