I usually don't write reviews, but unfortunately I had an unpleasant experience at this marshalls location. Several unsubstantiated stereotypes occurred. I went to the store to picked up a layaway and item was bagged with a clear bag similar to cleaners bag and a too small Marshalls bag. I found another item i was considering buying but it didn't have a price. i proceeded to the front of the store to get a price. I approached the store manager and another store employee to get the price of the item. Here's where the FIRST STEREOTYPE presumption was made. The two employees looked at me and assumed I took the ticket off the item to get a lower price, not every African American male is in a store to steal or get something for free. They looked at some hand written number on the designer ticket and quoted some ridiculous high price without looking the item up or even going back to the respective dept to find a similar item. The SECOND STEREOTYPE happen when I was leaving the store with the item I got out of layaway, the alarm went off because a sensor was still on the item. One of store employees, maybe assistant mgr, asked to look at my receipt. Mind you, I was just standing in front of the same two employees with this SUIT, the employee mentioning some crap about wanting to see receipt to ascertained who handle the layaway, but she was looking to see if the item was paid for. After they took sensor off, I put item in my car and return to the store to mention the negative experience that i just experience with them and they still try to justify their behavior by saying some lady pocketbooks have sensors. These employees definitely need some HR /SENSITIVITY training. This situation could have turned out with a more verbal confrontation but I could not let their ignorance mess up the rest of my day. By the length of review it's obvious I felt their actions were offensive. If I"m still thinking about this experience tomorrow I may have to return the item i purchased...the item is sharp, hence the one star. read more
