I lived here for a year-and-a-half or so. It was an affordable place to live that was within walking distance of most things. The strip was about a five or six block walk, campus was about 9 blocks, and if you went to Pinch/Callahans/Sin, you can cut through a bike path in the woods and be there in five minutes.
As for the staff, the maintenance people were near useless and rude. The place has since gone under new management, and they were great. The complex requires a keycode to get in the door. The house across the street was a frat house and people would sit in the parking lot and bang their stereo at all hours because they were evidently involved in a "Who's the bigger moron" contest. But seriously, if I were a student at SIU, and I didn't want to live in the dorms and couldn't afford the insane prices they are charging at Lewis Park, etc... check this place out. It's not extravagant, but I never saw a roach or a rat or anything in the time I was there. read more
