His nearest neighbors at the time were a group of Native Americans living along Lake Sammamish. Now that you've made Luke's acquaintance I invite you to experience the lovely park named in his honor. Just off Redmond Way and in the shadow of a high rise hotel, is a small parking lot that I've never seen fully occupied. The covered picnic area shelters several tables and the grassy area is perfect for lawn games or running children. Not far down the adjacent, paved Sammamish Trail is water access for splashing or communing with the water fowl, as well as a fishing pier for specially created those with disabilities. Fast food is available nearby if you forget your picnic lunch. Come, sit a spell and relax! I've always accessed this area from the Sammamish Slough Trail which runs alongside the slough, and I've always loved this grassy meadow area, just south of the Redmond Way bridge. There's a small stepped ramp for folks to walk their canoes or kayaks to the water, and a sweeping weeping willow across the slough to the west, with a picturesque picnic table nearby. The Landing itself, like the rest of the slough trail, has been renovated and updgraded a few years back. It still has a lovely trailed loop and expansive grassy area for folks to play frisbee or let their dogs run, but now is more tended too, and less "wild". During Redmond's annual "Redmond Lights" festival in December, the Landing here is ablaze with warming bonfires, XMas lights and singing choirs or entertainers. It's a lovely spot to break while biking or walking or jogging on the trail, to or from Marymoor or Redmond Town Center or the Woodinville wineries, etc.

This park is behind the Heritage Hall with easy walking paths for a stroll, see the water from a distance, walk the dog, and/or play tennis. They have two tennis courts (see photo). During springtime, they have several cherry blossom trees that bloom beautifully. Parking is plentiful by the street or use their small lot (see photo). I usually am walking over from downtown to extend my walking distance. There are two benches to enjoy the water view. There are no official children's play area, though there are some natural stones for climbing in a separated area (see photo). This park is simple, immensely peaceful, and a great place to just chill.

A perfect, quiet spot for families, those with pets, and even those walking alone to relax, have a picnic, and play ball games.

He has been to this park many times, but last night was my first time there. There are some trails along the water here. I didn't really feel like we were hiking, we were more meandering, but the trails are a bit similar to hiking trails. It wasn't super crowded when we went to this park, but Ryan said it is usually more crowded, so we got lucky last night! Ryan enjoys watching sunsets, so we went to this park at around that time. It was quite cloudy last night so there wasn't much of a sunset, but there were some lovely pink streaks across the sky for about 5 minutes! There was a boat on Lake Sammamish that was blasting music super loud while it was passing by. This didn't really bother me much, since one of my best memories of my entire life was being on a friend of a friend's boat out on Lake Tapps on a gorgeous summer day many years ago, with the music blasting (one of the songs playing on the boat that day was "My Maria" by Brooks and Dunn. I still love hearing that song now, since it always reminds me of that day!). But I definitely noticed the music, for sure... it was hard not to notice it! Other than the super loud music playing on the boat while it was passing by, this was a peaceful and quiet place. We found a few well-placed logs near the water, sat on the logs, and talked and laughed until it was almost dark and we reluctantly headed back to the car. We really enjoy being in nature, and this park was a nice place to do that.

The trail down on the right side (when facing the park) is much more steep and snakes around, while the trail on the left side is shorter with a slighter incline/decline. I'd recommend heading up or down from the left end unless you're an avid hiker. While both paths are paved, the space could really benefit from some beautification or sculptures, although it was very quiet and peaceful. There is an odd little pit on the left side with quite a bit of seating, but it's not clear if it was once used for bonfires or if it's meant as a sand pit for children. Either was it was a nice little hike with a gorgeous view.

A little along the way, there is a very pretty stream where our pup had the time of his life running and prancing in. We jogged about 4.5 miles along the trail, even though there was a bit more ways to go. We came across some wooden bridges atop of a steady stream underneath; it was all very beautiful! It was overall a great workout and a wonderful experience to get in touch with nature!

Clear signage gives you directions and most of the trails loop around and or run into each other. This mornings walk/hike was to explore the primrose loop. Wanting walk farther my friend and I took the red town trail down towards the coal creek parkway trail and headed back up the promise trail. I think. We walked along a beautiful trail next to a creek with bridges and waterfalls. It was gorgeous! Slightly muddy due to the rain. But very walkable. The parking lot by coal creek parkway is no longer open due to reconstruction for something city related. But along Newcastle golf road towards lakeshore blvd. There are other parking lots. Do it! Enjoy life and hike in nature.
