After the medical problem I deal with, the dentist truly scares me to death. There was a time when I hated the dentist and put off going for many years in my adult life. Last year is when I put on my big girl pants and made an appointment. Dr. Bland and her team have honestly changed me. They are very knowledgeable, thorough, precise and light-handed. The office is quaint, very clean, and organized. Their staff is always on time and I've never needed to wait more than 5-10 minutes for an appointment. Even the parking lot is a nice size with many available spots. Dr. Bland and her team have done my annual cleaning with x-rays, filled a couple cavities, and fixed a chipped front tooth. I am beyond happy with all the results, especially my new and improved front tooth. After almost 10 years of seeing this team, I would not recommend them…read more In the last 6 months, I have been here 3 times, all indicating pain in my front teeth. The first, they did a cleaning and a filling, second, they did a crown replacement, and third, they found 2 fractures in my teeth where my pain was. I found Dr. Patel to have a lack of sympathy or interest in my care, and she rushed through both my procedures. When Booshit was cleaning my teeth in the first visit, Dr. Patel even came in the room and told him to hurry. She came in, said my pain was probably due to gum disease and balked at the fact that I didn't want to replace my crown same day. She said it could crack any day (it didn't crack or cause me any issues but I went in and replaced a few months later anyways). After she was done with me, I saw her run out the front door, so apparently her break was more important than my appointment. The second time, I got my crown replaced and I remember it being such a fast appointment that my I texted my friend that I was "shocked" that they got me in and out so quickly. During that visit, I mentioned the persistent pain and they took a quick xray and look (like less than 5 minutes) and they said it all looked good and to use a water floss. Then, I tried to use a coupon emailed to me by their team, and they told me it wasn't valid because of the fine print, but the fine print affirmed that the coupon was valid, so I asked them to re-read then they realized their mistake and honored it. On the third visit, I came in and saw Tapasya Gurumurthy for pain and black lines on my teeth, but she did not give me a thorough evaluation. She looked at my teeth and let me know we'd have to start drilling to see if I need a root canal or an extraction on either or both of my fractured teeth. When I stopped her for questions, she seemed surprised that I didn't want her to continue. I asked her to look at my previous xrays to see if she could see the fracture because I had pain for the last 6 months, she said since she did not perform my previous work, she couldn't review it. I asked her how long it would've taken for a severe fracture like this to develop, she said she couldn't speak on that either. When I asked her based on her experience if this would need likely a root canal or an extraction, she couldn't say. Her inability to answer my questions was confusing and concerning. At first, she said to come back to see Dr. Patel, then she came back and said to see the Endodontist as soon as possible. I asked for the next appointment and she said he only comes once a month so I'd have to wait another month (???). She seemed to want to tell me worst case scenario and just kept saying "We'll hope for the best". She scared me and caused a lot of anxiety over the last week. During that 3rd appointment, when they gave me the cost estimate, I explained all of my concerns and frustrations above, with one of the staff even affirming she remembered the coupon issue. She was kind and took notes, and told me she'd have Dr. Patel reach out to me on Monday bc she was OOO at the time. It's now Wednesday and I haven't heard anything in email or by phone. Had their staff taken my pain seriously and did thorough evaluations, maybe we could've prevented the fractures from becoming severe issues that required emergency care. I saw a second opinion at a different practice 5 days later, who confirmed the severe fractures were severe enough to likely develop over months. He found the tooth growing behind one of the nearby teeth, and he was shocked that Stonecrest didn't explain this to me, or mention the risks of the condition during my 10 years there. He did a nerve test on my teeth and found that a root canal would likely be sufficient and explained the procedure fully to ease my fears. He also found 1-2 additional, minor, fillings that were not seen by Stonecrest. Stonecrest did not do a nerve test, did not look at the surrounding teeth, and refused to look at my previous work despite having the medical records readily available. Going to another place reminded me that there are dentists who actually care about their patients.

I was referred to Dr. Lotzof by my dentist. I'm 36 years old and have needed braces since I was a…read morekid, so I finally decided to get the work done. Dr. Lotzof and his team did amazing work. One of my teeth was backwards (a genetic trait), and he managed to turn it all the way around, bit by bit, re-mounting the bracket every few months as the tooth made progress. After each adjustment, it would hurt to eat for a few days (as expected), but that would go away as the teeth started to adjust, and I never needed painkillers. One of my teeth had a bracket that kept coming off, likely due to the tooth's shape or angle. Dr. Lotzof's team always found an opening in the schedule to get the bracket re-mounted, and they never charged extra fees for all of my extra appointments. They also accommodated my requests for extra appointments to take the wires off for dental cleanings, which I have every few months. My treatment took a few months longer than expected, mostly due to the backwards tooth (not Dr. Lotzof's fault - that tooth was stubborn!). There was no charge for the extra appointments, and Dr. Lotzof didn't try to wrap up the treatment early just because the quoted schedule was up. All of Dr. Lotzof's staff, from the front desk to the orthodontic assistants, were always friendly and professional. They're very well-organized, sending text reminders for appointments, and I never had to wait long when I arrived. I highly recommend Dr. Lotzof and his team!

Our family had been patients at Lotzof Orthodontics for approximately a year and a half. During…read morethat time, Dr. Lotzof removed a few of my son's baby teeth and placed a space maintainer, and we were satisfied with his care. Unfortunately, our experience changed dramatically when it came time to begin the next phase of treatment. After a routine follow-up, we were told it was time to move forward with Phase II orthodontics. The office encouraged us to pay the full amount upfront in exchange for a small discount. Because we had already established a relationship with the practice, we trusted their recommendation and prepaid over $3,100. Our insurance was also billed before we had ever been presented with or agreed to a treatment plan. X-rays were taken in December 2025, but it wasn't until about two months later that we finally met with Dr. Lotzof to discuss his recommendations. We were shocked to learn that his proposed treatment involved extracting one of my son's healthy permanent teeth, even though he still had many baby teeth remaining. Recognizing how significant this recommendation was, Dr. Lotzof suggested we obtain a CBCT scan to see whether all of my son's permanent teeth could be preserved. He also told us he would be happy to meet with us again to discuss the case at no charge. Before making an irreversible decision, we sought opinions from four other orthodontists. Not one recommended removing a healthy permanent tooth. After completing the CBCT scan Dr. Lotzof requested, we returned to discuss the results, but his recommendation remained the same. Ultimately, we chose to transfer our son's care to another orthodontist. When we requested a refund for the treatment that had never been started, the office refunded most of our payment but retained a $195 consultation fee. This was particularly frustrating because we had never been informed that there would be a separate charge for treatment planning or follow-up consultations. In fact, after we raised this concern, the office acknowledged in writing that the fee "was not discussed more clearly in advance." We had also been told that Dr. Lotzof would meet with us again free of charge to discuss our son's case. I understand that orthodontists can have different treatment philosophies, and I don't fault Dr. Lotzof simply because his recommendation differed from others. What concerns me is the overall process: asking patients to prepay thousands of dollars before presenting a treatment plan, billing insurance before that discussion occurred, recommending the extraction of a healthy permanent tooth when four other orthodontists independently disagreed, and then withholding money for a consultation fee that had never been clearly disclosed. Parents place an enormous amount of trust in orthodontists when making life-changing decisions for their children. Based on our experience, I would encourage families to obtain multiple opinions before agreeing to any irreversible treatment or making significant upfront financial commitments.
