The room itself was in very poor condition: * The walls were visibly stained, including marks that looked like they hadn't been cleaned or painted over in ages. * Mirrors were smudged and dirty, suggesting no attention to detail in cleaning. * Every blanket and sheet had noticeable stains, which was incredibly off-putting and unsanitary. (I've attached photos to show how bad it was.) * The floors were clearly not swept, vacuumed, or mopped--there was debris and dirt in every corner. The bathroom was worse: * There was a dark mold ring inside the toilet bowl. * The wall behind the toilet had visible hairs, which was absolutely disgusting. * The bathroom floor looked filthy, and there was no way I felt comfortable walking barefoot in there. Immediately after checking in I requested new blankets and mentioned the state of the room, 15min later we decided we couldn't stay here. They wouldn't give us our money back because we had been checked into the room for 20min. Spent that 20min trying to figure out if we could even find another hotel. I can't believe I spend any amount of money at this place. We would have been better off camping This is not what you expect from a hotel in this price range. I was in the South Bend area for business and looking for a Hotel close to New Carlyle. The price for a one night was what closed the deal. This is a budget-friendly hotel with large spacious clean rooms. There is no 'breakfast' at the hotel but they have vending machines and many restaurants close by. I found a nice sized kitchen area, a large desk/work area, a large comfy queen bed, and a large bathroom inside my room. Overall my stay was good, but the rooms could use a touch of modernization. The rooms lack USB ports but they have electrical outlets around the room, so I was able to charge most of my devices. The Wifi connection was strong and I was able to connect through a firewall to my company server to check emails and update my CRM. I did find streaming was okay as well as I went online for Netflix and Amazon Prime and have no buffering issues. I would have given this property 4 stars but cleanliness was an issue. I found dirty smudges on the entrance door, cup ring stains on the nightstand by the bed and hair in the drain in my shower (yech!!). Aside from that, the bathroom was large and relatively clean with plenty of towels and full shampoo, conditioner and shower gel in the shower. The Fitness room had enough equipment for a basic workout. It had cardio machines and free weights as well as some other accessories. I got in a good 45-minute workout with weights and the cardio machine and also did some stretching (ROMWOD) on the only supplied exercise mat. The hotel is on a busy street and has a vast lobby. A bar and Starbucks are conveniently located inside. I haven't been to the pool at this hotel. However, this hotel needs an update because the missing ceiling cover in certain parts isn't good for the hotel, and carrier smells are in the halls. They don't clean the rooms unless you request, and if they do clean, no trash was dumped, and the bed was made with the sheet under the same from when I slept on it. And they stopped offering you the chocolate chip cookie.

My room was amazing, the bed was very comfortable and everything was clean and well maintained. You even had a robe you could purchase if you wanted, which was great for a ND fan like me. The staff here was also incredibly polite and I felt very taken care of. The conference spaces were amazing as well, and the food during the conference was delicious! I hope to come back one day for some R&R!
