Our issue was that the AC system was running, but no air was blowing. Because the equipment is still under manufacturer warranty, we needed to work with a contractor to diagnose and complete the repair. I contacted this company and appreciated that they were able to send a technician, Darius, within just a few hours. During the visit, Darius diagnosed the issue as a failed blower. He explained that he would verify the status of the warranty, obtain the replacement part, and return the following day to complete the repair. He also advised that the labor portion of the job should take approximately 60-90 minutes. We paid the $80 diagnostic fee without hesitation. The following day, we received a text message advising that the repair total would be $450. I texted back, please provide the details. I then received: * $350 for labor * $100 for "warranty processing". Wanting to better understand the charges, particularly the warranty processing fee and labor amount, we respectfully requested clarification. My wife called to speak to him. His tone changed when my wife asked for clarity. He then stated - I am the best, if you don't want to go forward, let me know. Who says this when asking a question regarding the bill? Despite our concerns, we were still prepared to move forward with the repair because we understood that quality service comes at a cost as well as, we needed the ac corrected considering that there are individuals in the household with pulmonary issues - which was shared with Darius. I then politely requested via text to please provide an itemized invoice on company letterhead at the time of service outlining the work and charges being performed. Almost immediately after making that request, Darius abruptly declined late Friday afternoon, leaving us without air conditioning going into the weekend. The temp in the house was 90+ degrees, with FL outdoor temps over 95. His actions were done with intentional malice. The only explanation given was that the situation was "giving me a bad vibe." That response was both disappointing and disheartening. Asking for documentation and transparency regarding charges should never make a customer feel dismissed or penalized. As homeowners, we simply wanted clarity and professionalism before authorizing the repair. Afterward, I contacted the manufacturer's warranty service department directly to better understand the process. I was informed that warranty parts may require a refundable deposit that is returned once the defective part is sent back. This left me even more confused regarding the additional warranty processing charge. I cannot speak to anyone's intentions, but without a clear explanation, the situation no longer felt comfortable or trustworthy. What saddens me most is that the experience began positively. The technician initially seemed knowledgeable, responsive, and willing to help. Unfortunately, the lack of communication, lack of transparency, and sudden cancellation of service completely changed that impression. That company recommended to add freon and could not find any leak. After doing some research I found out you don't add freon until you find out why and where the system is leaking. I found Johnathan at Master Cooling Mechanical online and spoke with him in great detail and found out that the warranty for the system was extended in California & Florida from five to ten years. So happy they are open during the quarantine/covid-19. They were able to come sooner than I could accommodate, so we agreed on Thursday. Two guys came out, one was training the other to be on his own soon. It was an all day affair. One of my units checked out fine. The other one had some issues so they had to drain the Freon and check it out. I asked if they wouldn't mind cleaning up the squirrel skeleton under the unit. The young guy straight up said no! The older guy chuckled, grabbed my trash bag and went up and cleared it all out. So thankful! They were very considerate of my carpet etc. Protec installed my hot water heater which is why I called them for my AC needs. I figure, if they can do plumbing and AC, they can figure out how to cool my garage. As it turned out, I needed a separate appointment for evaluation for the air conditioning install. They are not allowed to tee off my existing unit into the garage. It's illegal. So I called and they said they could send someone out on Monday. The guy came and we talked about the options. We agreed on a new install and he was able to schedule me that week, Thursday. The team of three guys, the one who grabbed the squirrel carcass, and two other men came on Thursday and installed the unit. They were here all day, but as promised, they did it in one day. They had some issues with the wrong piping and had to redo it. They also made a small hole in the garage wall for the drainage pipe that didn't work out, so they have to come back and plug the hole. They also need to come back and cover the pipes. They didn't have everything for this custom project. The idea for the garage to be cooled is to take the edge of in the summer when I work out, not to cool It all the time. It works amazing. It has a remote control. A thermostat install would be an extra charge, but you could get it WiFi compatible and control it from your phone. Protec has an optional membership which can be tailored to your needs and is priced out depending on what you want and how many units you have. I joined. It includes 15% off plumbing and AC repairs. Hope I don't need to use that benefit. They're really good about calling and emailing. They will communicate both ways or whatever you prefer. Very professional. I would recommend them. You might get a better price with someone else, but you won't get the same warranty and guarantee.

Because my AC issues remained unresolved, I canceled the installation and am currently disputing that charge with my credit card company. Since then, I have called, texted, and emailed the company requesting assistance and asking for an itemized invoice for the services performed on June 29. Despite my repeated attempts, I have received no response. As of today, I am still waiting. Good customer service doesn't end when payment is collected. At the very least, I expected follow-up. Unfortunately, my experience has been silence.
