I recommended Marque Motors to the person who wanted to buy my car to do a Pre Purchase Inspection on my Porsche. They charged much more than other shops and only provided a few screen shots of errors on the car with no other explanation. The person was not interested in buying my car with error codes and no explanation. I then took the car to Porsche Beaverton who provided valid explanations for the errors and thankfully the buyer decided to purchase the car based on their explanations. I wasn't going to bother with this review, however after thinking it over I feel I need to warn people about this company. I first called and told them my grandsons BMW was over heating . I explained that he had replaced the radiator himself but the bottom hose kept coming loose. Received a call from Tim saying that they replaced the hose and it was ready for pick up.when I arrived he explained that the radiator wasn't installed properly but the car would be just fine they did a pressure test. So they charged me $564 to replace a hose. The next day car started over heating again. Brought it back in was told it was radiator. Why they didn't know that is perplexing? Then said it was just another hose. Received a call that now it was the water pump. In my opinion they never did diagnose the problem just did what looked like might work. All said and done I paid $1,116 for two hoses and to put radiator in correctly. You decide if you think you would bring your car there. read more

Spoke to Scott about bringing a 1999 Audi that we were gifted that needed work and he was very quick and efficient to send me a quote for what we thought it was. We got it to the shop and he did a full detailed diagnostic on it and it turns out that the repairs were way more than the value of the car. I have been a customer since the early 90's and can only say good things about Marque Motors. Kurt has always been straight and to the point. He is the "Porsche Whisperer". He explains why a repair requires immediate action and what can be postponed. I can count on two fingers when there's been an issue. They were promptly dealt with to my satisfaction. I think you're foolish if you buy an exotic and not accept that with the level of complexity the cost of maintaining it will also increase. More so with vintage cars. I have two Porsche 911s which I've taken to Marque Motors for about ten years. It is a bit expensive but I liked supporting a small business. Last week I dropped off my car for an oil change and had them diagnose a knocking noise. When I picked up my car after hours the auto dim rear view mirror was completely broken. The lens was opaque. I left a message right away and Tim, the front desk attendant, returned my call. He rather immediately took a defensive tone stating they didn't use the mirror. I explained that several times the car was driven to diagnose the knocking sound, and to move the car in and out of the shop. I asked that they please take care of it for me. He would not agree. I asked to speak to the owner. He said "I could pass on the message." I never got a call back from the owner. I will never return to this shop, a place I've likely spent 20K on over the past decade. This would have never happened when Kurt owned the place. It changed hands sometime in the past 1.5 years. read more

These folks are great! Found them on the DMV's website as a place to go in lieu of the DEQ. Searched other locations but this one only charged $10 for DEQ testing whereas the others were charging 20-40. I showed up and was greeted by an apprehensive looking but ultimately attentive shop dog that kept me busy during the ensuing 90 second wait. A friendly gentleman noticed the paperwork in my hand and intuited the reason for my visit. He asked for my keys and we went to the car. I thanked him for being cheaper than the competition by $10 and he looked at me inquisitively. I told him the website said he charged $10 and he waived this off, saying he didn't charge anything. What a pleasant surprise. If I ever win the lottery and buy an Audi, I'll take it here to get serviced for sure ;-) read more

I noticed some really bad signs when doing normal maintenance on my car, got my oil tested (Blackstone Labs) and sure enough, lots of metal in the oil (10x the norm for my car at that mileage). So, on high recommendations from a friend I called them and spoke with Kurt (the owner). After several emails and a phone call I arranged a time to drop off my car and they even shuttled my to and from work. All is going well. However, when I went to pick up the car, something was off with the what they were saying. They were extremely dismissive and didn't really say anything other "it's common"... They've been my shop for years, and they are frequently booked out for several days but will squeeze in emergencies every time, which is comforting. It's also fun to drop off your car and check out the gorgeous vintage Porche or new Audi in the lot. They're a small shop, but a trusted one for finicky foreign race cars. read more

I've had my '86 Porsche 911 into Marque a couple of times now. The first time was for a complete suspension rebuild. Kurt was great about laying out various options for parts and such. They did a great job and transformed the car's handling back into factory new condition. The second time was to repair a couple of heater fans that had burned out. They did that quickly and at a totally fair price. But what really impressed me was that the technician did a general assessment of the car's condition while they had the car and gave me a list of things that might be needing attention in the future. Not in a hard-sell, "you've got to fix this today" manner, but more from a "we know you love your car and want to help you keep it on the road" perspective. I like to do a lot of my own work when I can. But when it comes time for a new clutch, engine, transmission or any other project I don't feel up to tackling, my car will go back to Marque. Thanks Kurt and crew. I've been using Marque Motors for Porsche service for the last 15 years. My '84 Carrera was serviced by them for routine maintenance that was required. Kurt was great about explaining what work needed to be accomplished now and what work would be needed some time in the future while I had this great car. Over the years the major service items included a clutch, oil cooling lines, brake caliper rebuild, all items to keep my 105,000 mile Carrera in great shape! I recently had a "pre-buyers" inspection done for a 2010 997.2 by Marque Motors. I got a call part of the way into the inspection asking if I wanted to continue, he explained the codes that came up on the "black box" inquiry of the car were less than stellar. Not that they were deal breakers, but as a heads up courtesy to me. I passed on this car and kept looking. I purchased a 2010 997.2 and starting fresh I had a major service to include water pump, belts, brake flush etc. I had a few questions about my car so he brought me into the shop while the car was on the lift and gave me a good tour of the vehicle. I have always been treated very well at Marque Motors. I always have a clear understanding of what I want and what the car requires when I have maintenance work done here. They have always worked with me on schedules for drop offs and pickups as I work out of town and cannot always get to the shop the same day the work is scheduled. I have brought all my German vehicles to Kurt and his boys for longer than I can remember, but my current Audi S4 wagon has gone since it got out of warranty, and I have always been given the presidential treatment. My wife purchased a used Volkswagen Jetta recently, and not only did Marque Motors perform a very through pre-purchase inspection, it's regular maintenance has been performed flawlessly too. My vehicles are always looked over head to toe at every visit, and all upcoming or needed repairs are itemized by severity and cost. Recently had a bad experience on my 911.... some work done fine but other work not! Car was returned with a severe problem and after much research by me I found what the issue might be. When I queried the shop was told something quite different and more costly to repair .... and not the problem. Dropped close to $4000 and had a poorly running car on return. Poor follow up when I called .....ended up going to another shop that diagnosed problem and fixed it .... was what I researched! At this point have little faith to ever go back and not sure even if work already done by the shop. I suggest looking elsewhere as there are many other good shops in PDX for older Porsche's . read more

I have been taking my Porsche 911 Carrera 4 since July of 2013 and this place is amazing! They are upfront, honest and they have excellent customer service, which is huge deal for me. Every time I have taken my car their for routine maintenance of something needed repair, they were always willing to take my back home or to work, if they had an available employee to take me. I just dropped off my car there today for some repairs and I feel like I am good hands with the owner Kurt and his crew! If you are looking for a great place to take your German automobile (first call to see if they service that make and model) and you will not be disappointed. Plus, you do not have to drive all the way out to that only dealership, plus the prices are a lot less too. First let me say, I hate going to the mechanic. As a young cheerful blonde, I usually am quoted the "girl price" on anything related to my car. The Audi dealer has repeatedly quoted me prices $100 higher than they will quote for my boyfriend for the exact same thing when he calls ten minutes later. But never again, because I have found Marque Motors!! The "check engine" light of doom just came on in my Audi TT, and I was dreading the process/expense. My boyfriend's dad suggested Marque Motors though (he is a classic Porche fanatic), so I gave them a call. They are super friendly, and the price for their diagnostic stuff was $100 cheaper than anywhere else I called. I brought the car in on 10 minutes notice during late afternoon, and by 8 am the next morning they called with the problem, a quote on how much to fix it (a really fair price), and they had it all fixed and ready to go by 2:00 that same afternoon. Bottom line, these guys are fantastic. Kurt, the main guy, is super friendly and helpful. I had a less-than-24 hour turn around on my car, the price was really fair, and they even gave me a heads up about future services that were coming up for my car with prices and everything. They are very thorough, and you never feel like you are getting jerked around. Particularly for Audi/Porche owners, this place is great, because they have parts in stock, where as German parts are often hard to come by at other shops, so with Marque, there is no waiting two weeks for ordered parts. Do yourself a favor, don't bring your Porsche here. I have a beloved 996 turbo. In the course of 3 months, I spent over 7k with Marque and have nothing but regrets. When they did my clutch change, one of the techs forgot to torque the bolts that connect the axle to the trans... 100 miles later I'm driving down the road and the car exploded. That's not even the worst part, 2 months later I have my car there for a simple spark plug change, and when Kurt is bringing the car around from the back HE SCRAPES MY WIDEBODY TURBO on the 914 next to it, leaving a dent all along my door. Instead of standing up for their actions, they just gave me the car without saying anything. Only to do a sub par repair job when I bring them the car back. I waited months to post this review, and honestly I'm still fuming about it. Do yourself a favor, stay away from marque motors... especially if you value your car. read more

I made an appointment to have my 911 looked at by Kurt on Jan 13th, 2014. My car is a Targa and I didn't bring the folding top with me as I thought the car would be only there a day or two, max. When I told Kurt I didn't have the top he acts like it's a big deal because "space in his shop is limited." That is why I made an appointment. I have had this car rebuilt from the ground up, Kurt did a lot of the suspension and engine rebuild. Over the past 10 years since I've had this car, I have spent well over $20,000 with Marque Motors. After spending that much with Kurt, I thought the least he could do was to move my car inside if it started raining, as he had done in the past for me. Kurt Leipzig just seems to be an unhappy, unpleasant personality. There are plenty of good Porsche service mechanics in the Portland area. They were very thorough and honest on the mechanical condition of the car. I called in advance to have my BMW dropped off to have an oil leak checked and to look at the air injection pump because of the OBD codes that popped up. I let them know I had it looked in Washington and it was the valve cover gasket however I wanted a mechanic closer to where I just recently moved. The guy seemed nice, said to bring it in the next morning and he would take a look and give me an estimate. On the way to bring the car in the next morning my power steering went out. So I let them know that issue as well. The lady tells me there is a $100 fee for inspecting the car. Normally when someone throws a charge on me like that versus say, on the phone, I would leave. But I had no power steering and the noise the car was making had me nervous. So I stay, hoping at least they charge a fair price. Boy was I wrong, They wanted over $1300 for the power steering alone stating that I had the old pump and they would need to upgrade to the new one and replace all the pulleys, belts and hoses. I got the hell out of there and went to O'Reileys. The part was $150 after I returned the core and the fluid was $6. I had to get a big wrench to take off the clutch fan but it was easy enough and did not require me to take off the whole front of the car as they insisted. There was NO difference in the pump I took off and the one that was replaced, if fit perfectly with no new hoses and my belt and the pulleys were in great shape. As for the rest of the estimate, they claimed it would be nearly 2k to change the gasket and replace the air injection pump (Napa Auto center estimated 1k and was free by the way). You would think they would have at least included which part of the air injection system was bad in the $100 estimate however they claimed because my power steering pump was too loud they could not, didn't offer to refund any part of the estimate even though on the phone that was specifically what I wanted to have checked since I knew which gasket was causing the leak already. I bought the valve cover gasket from O'Reiley's as well for $120, along with some silicone and qt of oil. It took me 2 and half hours since it was my first time. Maybe not everyone wants to take the time to do it themselves but I would chose another shop over Marque. They lied about the work that needed to be done, their prices are outrageous and charge for crappy estimates. read more

My 2011 Audi suffered a significant issue and I dropped it off at Marque simply because it was the closest repair shop to my house. Kurt went out of his way to review the vehicle's service history. He even recommended I take the car to one of the local dealers as the issue may have been caused by their faulty repairs. The fact that he was willing to forgo a five digit repair in order to help me out was truly appreciated. When the local dealer reneged on its warranty, I took my vehicle back to Kurt for the repairs.
