His is a second generation business that cares about helping the customer, being responsive and doing great work. Other competitors treat customers like numbers, not people. Marmin is a family business that cares about the customer. The competitors can't be bothered to return calls and even charge for estimates! Some luxury auto dealers won't even talk to you without charging a fee to look at pictures or the car damage. Gary stands heads and shoulders above the rest. This is his career, his family business's reputation. He cares about long term relationships, treating the customer fairly, doing good work and being responsive and responsible. Marmin went the extra mile to do superior work and even fixed the other side of the rear bumper and lights, which was not in the original estimate. They washed the car and cleaned the inside so it looked brand new. They did outstanding work on time, underpromised and over delivered. Can't say enough good things about Marmin. They are the best! I used Gary and Marmin a year later. They continue to be supremely professional and customer service oriented. I needed the repairs down by the weekend and they were incredibly responsive and did great work. As they are family owned, Gary oversees everything. The competitors are very corporate i.e. you are just a number. They have no flexibility, make it difficult to make appointments even for an estimate and won't give you a definite time when the car will be ready. Gary is just the opposite. He is responsive, flexible, stands by his word and does great work. Cannot recommend more highly! As an update, I had a fender scratch from parking on the street. Gary, as a personal favor, buffed the bumper for free so it looks totally fine. He didn't have to do this. As Marmin is a family business, Gary is in the long term relationship business. I never write reviews unless I am totally blown away. My parked car was hit, the entire side was smashed front bumper hanging, mirror off; it was the other drivers fault. Gary is the owner and he is amazing. I called him and he had somone pick up my car 2 hours later. He delt with insurance and was so kind and personable with me. Less than 2 weeks later he had someone drop off my car in perfect condition and even gave me a discount for paying with cash (the insurance company sent me the check). He also check my oil, put air in my tires, washer fluid, fixed a bulb and send the car back vacumed and cleaned. Honsetly, it does not get better than this. I called around to a few places and they were all short and rude. I got Gary on the phone and knew right away he was a stand up man. He really really came through. He called me up saying " that I an dealing with the wrong people" " that he will sue me for defamation" all in a ranting unprofessional irrational way. I often have a love hate relationship with NYC. Last week, it was solely HATE. Blizzard in NYC: bad. Blizzard in NYC during Dept of Sanitation budget cuts: worse. Having a car in NYC during a blizzard during Dept of Sanitation budget cuts: terrible. I wake up on 12/27/10, the morning after the blizzard hits, to dig out my car and I'm pleasantly horrified to see a gigantic dent in the shape of a snow plow blade on my drivers side door. So I am left with my insurance, my deductible, and Marmin's Collision Specialists. Honestly I couldn't have been in a worse mood bringing my brand new car (only 500 miles) into Marmin's, and they were pretty understaffed and overworked themselves. However, Harley (mentioned in other reviews) treated me nicely and professionally. The lady at the front desk (Marion I think?) also was very sweet and informative. Marmin's is a Proshop which made the whole process a lot faster. My car wound up being ready about 4 days earlier than they originally said it would, and Harley kept me updated the whole time (he either called me or I called him.) Even though I had no clue what he was talking about because I'm not a car person, he told me specific details about everything they were doing to my car so I would know. My car was ready exactly when I said it would be, even though it was a little annoying because the place was packed when I got there so I had to wait a bit. I looks great and I can't tell anything happened. read more

Brought my car for minor repair on the left side of my car. It was done quickly and the painting is not that bad. The only thing I didn't like is that instead of replacing the small part that was damaged while removing it which cost only $23 bucks, they instead screwed it making a hole on the body frame. I guess they need some quality controllers for the job. It might be too small amount to deal with but i am disappointed. read more

Both Gary and his son were amazingly helpful when the front bumper of my used 2008 Audi A6 was ripped off. My bumper was ripped off in the parking lot at work while I was at work. I did not know how it happened so I did not want to go through insurance and risk my premiums. Given how old the car was, I was not willing or able to shell out the cash needed to replace the bumper so Gary worked with me to find another solution. He put the bumper back on and secured it with screws, ensuring the integrity of the piece. The car was back to it's lovely self after the repair. Marmin Collision Specialists did not properly repair my car and was ready to accept payment for work not done. Not only that, the invoice shows they planned to overcharge me more than $39. They also did not call me--or attempt to try to reach me when they didn't get my voicemail to let me know the car was ready and the insurance company wouldn't pay another day for the rental. OMG! That was my reaction when I got out to my car on the street a month ago. The telltale note under the windshield wiper could be seen a half a block away. I knew it just couldn't be good news. And it wasn't "A rental truck hit your car and took off, sorry I couldn't get the plate number" I've spoken to the Collision Police line and they are great, however you really need to catch someone in the act to have a fighting chance. My insurance company recommended Marmin. I passed on my first instinct to take it to the dealer and Wow! I made the right move. At first I was panicked as to where I would bring my car, I thought the closest body shop would be in one of the outer boroughs not 7 blocks from my pad. So I call AAA and the take my crippled auto over to Marmin on 73rd. From the start I gained a sense of comfort. Although its a material object we tend to get emotionally attached to our rides and need some comforting when their ATTACKED BY A DAMN oops sorry calm down. Well my insurance co. told me I had a lifetime guarantee on all repair which Marmin confirmed. Parts took a few day, paint etc a few more and my baby was ready to roll in 5 days. I did have to pay my deductible due to the fact the wonderful renter took off. Thanks Marmin for a job well done and helping me deal with the emotions associated with a crime so heinous.. I got rear ended on the highway and so I had about $8,000 of body damage to repair. I went to Marmin because my insurance company recommends them and uses them for estimates, so I wouldn't have to make a separate visit to an adjuster. The people at Marmin are very friendly and straightforward and seem honest. When I brought in my car, they said they'd call back later that day with the estimate but they didn't. It took several calls from me until, a week later, I finally had an estimate. They told me they'd call when the work was done, hopefully the following Friday. Late on Friday afternoon, having still not heard from them, I called and learned that the car was was ready, I could have picked it up that day, but they were closing so I'd have to come on Monday. On Monday I discovered that several items on the list hadn't been done and that I'd have to bring the car back once some parts came in. They said that when I brought the car back they'd be able to do the additional work while I waited. They were supposed to call me when the parts came in but they didn't. Eventually I called them, they said the parts were in, and so I brought the car back. I learned that the while-you-wait job would really take all day so I left the car and picked it up the following morning. At that point I learned that one of the parts was still not in and I'd have to come back. A couple of days later, I discovered two additional problems that will need to be fixed: bent or misaligned panels. When this whole job is finally done, it will have taken over a month. and required at least three drop-offs. So the bottom line? This is my only experience with a collision repair shop so I have no idea how they compare with others. They're great in communicating one-on-one but totally unreliable in calling you. Their quality control seems quite mediocre but they admit their mistakes and are apologetic. So, as much as I like them, if I ever need another job like this, I'll definitely explore other options. read more

Beware! Was directed here by Allstate to get an estimate for collision damage. With the garage full, I was instructed by a Marmin employee to park in the street in a no parking zone, which was, not incidentally, filled with other cars apparently waiting for repair. Though clearly marked as no parking, since a Marmin employee directed me there I figured parking there for the time being was fine. But no. I get a $65 ticket. When presented to the manager I was told that I should've left the keys with his guy so the car could be moved--even though I was never instructed to do so or would think leaving the keys in a car on an NYC street would ever be a good idea. The manager entirely disavowed any ethical responsibility for the action of his employee or showed any sign that he even cared that a potential customer was lost. He simply said that this was "an unfortunate part of living in New York." The truly unfortunate thing here is that there are businessmen who so casually and obviously couldn't care less about poor customer relations. The whole experience epitomized stereotypes of bad car dealers, mechanics, body shops. Avoid, avoid, avoid. read more
