I have a small loan for equipment with Marlin Capital. Due to Covid-19 I slowed down and lost work. I had filled for my payments to be postponed and it had been accepted. They gave me 3 months, after 2 months they email me saying i had a late payment since i never filled for and Addendum. I never received any paperwork till i asked why i was being charged for a late payment. Filled the paperwork and then they ask me to send my ACH info. Keep in mind they have this info on file. I had received a waver to not send in the ACH form. Weeks later a lady calls me saying i am late paying and i need to pay now! I told her i had filled the Addendum and had a waiver submitted for the ACH form. She says I will get in touch with you, hangs up and never calls again. Today Brittney McNeal calls and emails me talking about "Delinquency", and that I owe them and need to pay now! All I asked for the company to postpone the payments for 3 months, and they cant even do that! Do not do business with these people, they will not answer your emails and harass you be phone and delinquency. Never doing business with these people again. Highly recommend that one avoids using this company. Very aggressive and adversarial approach to clients. They send out statements so that by the time they arrive the payment is already late and then blame in on the client because they have "no control over the postal service". This is the worst leasing company out there. If you are thinking of using these guys, don't! They charge you hidden fees for the life of your lease. They are also very nasty on the customer service side of phone service. The sales person is very nice and promises you the world and once you sign, they take advantage of you in every way they can. ok so up date to my last review. after 2 hrs. on the phone I got ahold on someone that was helpful. at this point I need to say that no matter my experience with the company itself the people there are extremely nice. I feel for them in dealing with the bad system and I hope that the company fixes that, they deserve a better way to help people. They did settle my payoff and got me my release letter, so problem solved. As to my complaint, I didn't expect the response since most companies wouldn't care. I was contacted the next day by probably the best customer relation personal I've ever had to speak to. Breanna was so helpful in explaining the issues and took a fair amount of responsibility for the issues I had. Explained the differences in loan and working capital options. Breanna is truly one of the only reasons I would work with Marlin again. Her professionalism and understanding of my issues turned what was and would have continued view of this company and turned it around. I do hope that Marlin knows they have someone worth keeping in this employee. Contacted Marlin Leasing Corp 8/28/17 to get my payoff (as we sold our building). I was given a different amount than the amount listed on the website +$600. I asked why the different amount and was told I had to pay the property taxes for the camera system.... First time hearing about this when I signed the lease for equipment. Also they do not accept credit card payments. How does a financial institution not accept credit card payments? Reached out to company I purchased the system through and still have not received a call back. Not to mention 20+ minutes on hold to get someone on the phone. read more

Have had a business relationship for years. At the start of the pandemic lock down we asked marlin for deferred payments on our accounts. We followed all of their requirements and were granted these. Shortly after receiving these we began to have large amounts of money removed from our checking accounts (at one point over 10000.00 dollars)We would contact Marlin, most times waiting on hold for hours only to be told yes you do have deferrals and not sure why this happened. it would then take them a week or two to return the money. We have now received notice that Marlin has sold our loans to Us Bank. Us bank is now telling us that we never had deferrals from marlin or that Marlin did not forward them and we owe payments back to april.As I said we had a relationship for years never missed a payment and were never late.We have all of the correspondence to back this up Run away as quick as you can. read more

Worse leasing company ever!!!! Do yourself a favor and save yourself $$ and the hassle. They charge tax on late fees. My company canceled our contract with them in August through the legal department. They said write a letter send the payoff amount and send back the shipping paper that the company that picked up the copier to send it back to them. Now we have gotten 2 invoices sine then, so i called and got the run around, she yelled at me that I had no permission to get rid of the copier, blah, blah....we apparently didn't send n a form which they said they send us which we didn't get. So I said well give me the form and she says no because you don't have the copier. So I guess all the $$$$ we send them for the balance of the lease was just free $ because she said we need to renegotiate the buy out. I said you ain't getting another dime and would have my boss call. I then tried to call the lady from the legal department and got her voice mail. The are crooks!!! read more

They can't be responsible for mail delivery. . . the customer can't get the invoice on Monday and pay the next Monday and use the excuse that they can't be responsible for mail delivery. ** Marlin Leasing NJ does not stand behind the products they promote nor their customers ** I was directed to Marlin by Fujitsu computers. My initial experience with Marlin Leasing Corp was quite good. Then they seemed to repeated have issues confirming insurance documents sent to them. ** Marlin did not stand by the relationship. No go. ** The real trouble came when the equipment manufacture told us that Marlin needed to get involved to get a replacement unit for a defective one or get a refund. Marlin was paid for extra service and extended warranties to cover the equipment. It took months for Marlin to even return a call. When I finally was able to talk to someone they made promises but did not get back to me. After 6 months of repeated calls and e-mails they said I was on my own and they had no leverage to complete the task. In the end I was stuck paying for equipment that does not function and they had no power in their relationship Fujitsu to make it right. To add gasoline to the fire, we were contacted after the loan was paid in full for the unusable equipment saying we still owed money. I see red every time they send requests to do more business with them. This is a very disorganized company that has little credibility. WARNING!!! UNETHICAL!!!! They should get zero stars but 1 was the lowest Yelp would allow. 1. We have had to mail our payments 30 days in advance to avoid their BOGUS LATE FEES. 2. Marlin's copy of our contract was CHANGED AFTER it was signed. Good thing we kept our copy! 3. Not a single correspondence had a return address on it. Who does that? The contract had 2 addresses on it & we had to call to find out which address to use. 4. Then in the fine print of the contract Marlin makes you notify them in writing OVER 4 MONTHS IN ADVANCE that you intend to terminate your lease. If you are 1 day off your are forced into another year's lease with them!! The company who hooked us up with them have discontinued doing business with them because of all the complaints. WE WILL NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY AGAIN!!!!! One reviewer claims that all the negative reviews on Marlin Leasing have been done by their competitors. HOGWASH! I am not a competitor! I switched my autopay bank accounts from one bank account to another and they said i didn't pay my lease for the last month. I called about this and left a message and never got a response back. I will never do business with them again. 40.00 penalty fee for not paying, when all i did was change bank accounts. Both have funds in them to cover it. It's there fault that there system didn't pickup the changes in there system when i made them. The fact that i called them after they charged me for the late fee on there screw up and never received a response back is even more disturbing. Kiss my money goodbye. I purchased a restaurant dishwasher at a Seattle FSA Food Show and Marlin Bank had a prearranged agreement to handle the financing. I was required to pay $89.88 per month until the machine was paid for. The bill is usually mailed to me on the 5th of the month and they have to receive payment prior to the 21st or you get slapped with a late charge! This doesn't give you an awful lot of time to get it paid on time and especially with our lousy rural postal service! We take a one month vacation every November after we close the restaurant for the winter! I pay all the bills before we leave and I pay all that are waiting for us, as soon as we return! When I called the Customer Service lady to inquire about the late charge, she wasn't the least bit interested in the reason for my telephone call! According to her, I was supposed to set up payment with my bank and she would not even volunteer to remove the late charge! I asked her how much was remaining on my account and she said $2600.00! I told her the check will be in the mail today! Save yourself the frustration of trying to work with a bank that has a bunch of idiots running their Customer Service Department! read more

We have leased equipment from Marlin for the past 5 years, always had a positive working relationship with them. Our lease is drawing to a close and we have decided not to purchase the equipment or renew the lease as one of our vendors has offered us brand new equipment and a very lucrative payment system. In August I began making these decisions and contacted Marlin to get a buyout price for our current equipment as we evaluated our options. Within a few weeks our community suffered considerable damage as a result of Hurricane Irma. In the struggle to repair damage and find a new level of business in our struggling community, my documents for Marlin lay forgotten on my desk. When I realized I had never noticed Marlin that we were not renewing we were way past the window to have done so. I reached out to Marlin and was connected to Brian Gellis; I explained our situation and he was very concerned and compassionate, provided us with a speedy and very generous resolution. It was so refreshing to be treated with such respect; so many companies today make it obvious we are just another account number in their database. liars and scam artists. we had 2 leases with them both with a dollar buy out. originally we were presented with 2 options one with a dollar buyout and one with a 10% buyout. we agreed to the 1 dollar buy out and they switched the numbers so the payment with the dollar buyout went with the 10% buy out. the prices are on separate pages so its easy for them to have the monthly price on one page and the buy out terms on the second page. they are the worst in customer service i had proof of the error but it took so long to get someone to address it that they threatened with collections if we did not pay the 10%. do not use them and if you do please read and make copies of everything you sign and match all documents up with page numbers. read more

Never never .................. infinity times lease equipment from this bank as they rip you so bad you will be regret for ever. Their interest rate is 50 % of the loan amount. No matter you even if you try to pay early you have to pay the whole amount. They like to called this interest added amount as finance charge. I burrowed 15k for 5 year and the amount I will be paying in 5 year will be about 23 K. I am always current to the payment and I have 2 more years to go. I tried to pay of early if I was allowed to pay principal balance and some charges but they wanted me to pay whole 5 year amount. Never do business with Marlin Bank. This bank rip you off. They charge interest rate of almost 50% of loan amount. Doesn't matter whether you pay off sooner or later. AVOID THIS HORRIBLE PLACE LIKE THE PLAGUE. Don't let the fake sympathetic responses to other complaints fool you, this is an immoral, scam artist, business that should be investigated for fraud. Exactly as other's have described, they do everything they can to create grey areas, vagueness, and to manipulate you into being stuck in contracts with them. To summarize our experience: we leased a printer from Marlin at the company where I work. 6 whole months before the lease ended, they contacted us to ask our intentions for the lease (if we were renewing or not). We responded that we did not want to renew, and no longer wanted the lease. Then the lease was "auto-renewed" because we let them know "too early" that we didn't want it. When we did not pay the lease we did not want and tried to return the printer, they claimed we were in default and they would not take the printer away until we paid. The amounts we owed kept changing via email, and were incredibly vague in ways that left grey areas and uncertainty about exactly what we had to pay and why. Finally, we were able to pay them enough that they began the Return Authorization for the printer. We followed every instruction on how to return it, paid for the return (also absurd), only to have them accuse us of damaging the printer. They sent photos of it soaking wet, beat up and broken. As if we would allow that to happen and just give it back! Thankfully, we took our own photos on the day it left showing a perfectly fine, dry, functional printer. Still fighting about the money for damages we supposedly owe. Take your business ANYWHERE ELSE and avoid thousands of dollars and hours wasted on these horrible people. read more

We were approved to purchase a carpet cleaning business package for a cost of $11,997. in order to get the loan we had to agree to automatic drafts to our account. and was told by Brian (sales person) our payment was going to be $442 for 36 months and we had to place $800 deposit. We were ok with the payment and terms BUT we should have read the fine print and got an attorney to read as well. The first payment came and it was $688 we were shocked. I immediately called their customer service dept and ask about it and was told we had to pay the taxes on the payment as well as the down payment (my cpa said they should not be receiving taxes on leased equip) then they also charged a one time processing fee (we all know what this is (AIR MONEY just a bogus Statement "processing fee) then I ask why we didn't receive an invoice that the payment was coming out and she told me we get nothing like that ever and all we can get if we sign up is the balance every month no paper trail or email at all. I was shocked again. Then there is the insurance they force you to carry on the equipment. I partly understand this except they want insured for the whole 12000 when there is only $5500 in equipment, everything else is paper promotional stuff, business cards etc and website with optimization. No insurance company will cover this and Marlin threatens you with charging you an extra $29 per month if you don't get the insurance. Here is the real kick in the shins. I was so upset over the shadiness of the invoice thing I decided i wanted to pay off the account in full with a high interest credit card and the representative told me it would not DO ME ANY GOOD TO PAY IT OFF. WHY YOU ASK? Here its is.....if I pay all payments interest, principle, fees I will have paid $15800. Guess what the pay off is, thats right $15800. So to borrow $11,997 I have to pay 15800 thats 35-38% interest. NUTS! These people are shady and smoking something. Maybe I should change banks and tell them to come and repo the business cards, tshirts and equip. STAY AWAY! These statements are factual and true. Sure wish I would have used the credit card. We have paid for almost 2 years, and we recently had to close our company. Marlin has been calling us at our job to collect even after we asked them not too. We are only 60 days past due and want to settle but they say we still owe them almost the full amount even after making almost 2 years of payments.
