My new insurance broker cancelled my previous insurance policy with Kevin Bruce (my previous…read morebroker) so I did not have to do any work. A few minutes after my new broker faxed over my signed cancellation letter, Kevin called my cell phone and left a very disturbing, unprofessional voice mail. He demanded to know why I was canceling my policy with him because he "never heard me discuss with him that I was unhappy with my insurance". I called Kevin back to confirm that yes, it is my signature on the cancellation page and that my policy with him should be terminated immediately. Kevin then made fun of my new agent on the phone with me by saying "how long has this new agent been practicing? He certainly seems new at this". Kevin then proceeded to tell me that I will need to pay a $50 cancellation fee. After hearing of my wonderful conversation with Kevin, my new broker sent my cancellation letter directly to the insurance company. The insurance company ensured that I would not accrue a cancellation fee and terminated my policy right then without question. Please think twice before considering choosing Kevin as your insurance broker. I would not want you to suffer through the same verbal harassment I have received from him.

Mr. Bezark and Mr. Lerner had handled two personal injury cases for me a few years ago. They were…read moreboth pleasant and always very professional. Their assistant was often forgetful but for the most part, I was satisfied with their representation. Then a couple of things happened. First, Case #1 settled, and my distribution schedule listed a single payment issued by one defendant. Then Case #2 settled, and my 2nd distribution schedule listed an extra payment for $5k. I was not unhappy to see this extra money but I did not know where it had come from so I called my attorney. It turns out that a 2nd defendant in Case #1, whom I knew nothing about, had issued this check more than a year before I found out about it, The bottom line is - if not for Case #2, that $5k payment would have gone into their pockets and not mine. Also, the defense attorneys from Case #2 had sent me a breakdown of payments issued on my behalf. Again, it turned out that in addition to the settlement amount, there was money paid to my attorneys that was not being disclosed to me. The defendant was paying my attorney's fees in full - an amount near $800. And guess what? My attorneys subtracted those same fees from my settlement portion on the distribution statement. Double billing is not ethical, and probably not legal either. I straightened everything out in the end, but this should not have happened. There is no excuse for a professional law office to be so negligent with a client's money.
