TradeWinds RV Center - Molding fall off

TradeWinds RV Center

Great experience trading in and purchasing a new travel trailer. Thank you Kristopher Atwell, Mike…read moreBuckley, Breanna Rockwell and Alex the hitch guy.

Purchased my first camper from TradeWinds RV Center in Clio MI at 21 February of 2024. The camper…read morewas used, but in very good condition. When I went and looked at the camper I did a small inspection of my own to the best of my ability. The black tank was FULL, mind you it's the middle of winter so now I'm concerned if the camper was properly winterized, the sales guy seemed to be completely unaware of this. Before agreeing to purchase I wanted an inspection done on the waterlines, hot water tank and the appliances, along with the black tank emptied and cleaned out. I was told everything was great, no concerns so the purchase was agreed to along with a phone call conversation asking if I wanted to have my propane tanks filled and batteries replaced from our sales rep Dave Steighner, which I said yes to. Fast forward now to my first trip with the camper.... here's where it starts. Rear jacks are not lowering, hot water tank has leaked and flooded the whole storage under the camper, HUGE old mouse nest in the AC unit, hot water water tank isn't heating up, TV doesn't work, lights aren't working inside the unit and the ceiling vent is leaking and no propane in my tanks. I make a phone call first thing Monday to service explaining what happened and asking how all these issues were missed. I read off the receipt that says "Inspection: waterlines, appliances, hot water tank" to have been checked over and how I was told everything was good to go. She can't give me any answers besides that I can maybe send them the bill for the repairs made assuming I took it in to be fixed when I had to drive all over northern Michigan to find what my father needed to fix it while on our vacation, "I don't really think there's anything we can do" and says that the service manager will be "reaching out". No response from TradeWinds at all. 2 weeks later I finally get a call back from Elina at the service (Not the service manager) stating that according to Dave, just the water lines were to have been looked at. Funny, I have proof stating other and $600 for my waterlines to be checked over?? "I'm sorry there's really nothing we can do." If my water lines were actually checked you would have found the leak from my tank because as soon as water went into the tank water came out. The same weekend I'm having all these issues with the unit, Dave Steighner is asking me to pitch a sale for him on a 2021 camper he just got in if I know anyone looking. This has been an unbelievable first experience on purchasing a camper and I can assure you that I will NEVER be making another purchase or service with TradeWinds and will be informing anyone who mentions making a purchase from here of what I am going through to have this issue resolved.

Absolutely terrible experience. Buying the camper was one thing--but actually picking it up was a…read morecomplete disaster. When I showed up to take delivery, they had lost my keys. Instead of being prepared, they had me sitting there waiting for over SIX hours with no real updates or urgency. Completely unacceptable. What's even more frustrating is that there were plenty of sales reps walking around trying to sell, but once the deal was done, suddenly no one was available to actually help a paying customer. It's clear they only care about making the sale--not delivering on it. The lack of organization, communication, and basic customer service at the finish line is shocking. This should be the easiest part of the process, and they completely failed. I would not recommend this place to anyone unless you're prepared for a headache after you hand over your money.

This location and staff have a mountain load of both! My wife and I had an excellent experience purchasing a Class C RV with RV Sales Associate KEENAN MCCRUMB. His knowledge of his product, his willingness to answer all of our questions, and to ensure we were happy with it all, was the hallmark of the discussions. The end agreement for purchase was a fair and attractive offer leading us to sign a purchase agreement and agreed price and closing date. However in the day ahead, my wife suffered a flare-up of an existing condition, that in all reality would preclude our being able to use the RV now, or in the future. The next day I called Keenan and informed him I would be returning to the store to discuss it. I again met with Keenan, related our difficulty and our inability to continue the sale, I then asked what were our options. Note that under MI law, Camping World was under no obligation to honor my request. But Keenan calmly indicated he understood our predicament and would intervene on our behalf with his Sales Manager DAVE RICKETTS. The end result was these gentleman indicated they fully understood that predicament, did not want to add to our dilemma and stress, and would honor our request. And in what I previously stated, demonstrated the character and integrity of both men and this company. Having had a career in law enforcement and then the business world, it is not often that you come across individuals the caliber of Mr. McCrum or Mr. Ricketts. I cannot recommend this location and the staff therein highly enough. If you choose to seek a reliable, honest, and fair business partner, you will find none better at this location. Proceed here with confidence!
