Quite simply put... Mark is the best! My son and I have both done Bass Guitar lessons with Mark. He's passionate about what he does and it shows. His patience is unmatched and he teaches you at YOUR pace, not a predetermined pace... and... keeps it interesting for you. *Facility: Waiting area consists of a new couch, a TV that you can control, and some reading materials. He even has a few games laying around if you have children that need to be entertained during your lesson. If you'd rather browse around and look at all his instruments for sale, you can do that too. He has a great selection. The lessons are done in his office, which has all the equipment and resources you can imagine. All you need to bring is your instrument and your binder that he sets you up with. Everything else (amps, cords, stands, tuners, etc, etc, etc) is provided. I hope I'm not letting the cat out of the bag here, but he even has a whole new world going on in his Stage Room in the back of the building. This place is incredible! The room looks like it could fit 100 people in it. There is literally a full stage with 2 drum sets, amps, lighting, etc. It is ready to rock with the flip of a switch at the DJ booth. Yes, the DJ booth! There is a couch for TV and/or console gaming. There is also a foosball table, pinball machine, arcade game with all the classic games on it, pool table, ping pong table, dart board, a small putting green, and a fridge for food/beverages. Outside, there are two bar areas and a fire pit to top it off. It seems never ending the further you walk back in this place. He has the capability to host gigs, birthday parties, dance parties, class reunions, get togethers, family reunions, conferences, you name it... *Lesson Price(s): The lessons are very affordable. For $100, you get 4 lessons (30 minutes each). Initially, he sets you up with your music binder and updates it every visit. It's very organized and precise. This goes home with you and gives you things to do on your own as well. He sets you up for success quite nicely. In my honest opinion, the price is minuscule for what you're getting. From someone who often gets buyers regret, I have been nothing less than pleased. I've even bought gift cards for friends/family to get them started. *Lessons: As previously stated, Mark is patient and works at your pace. If you're eager, do your "homework", and want to learn quickly... he will keep that energy going. If you prefer a slower, more methodical pace, he accommodates that as well. He also won't let things become boring or stagnant. Just when you might start thinking that it's getting boring with basics, he switches it up and shows you something you didn't know you could do. It's rather magical how he does this. *Instruments: Great selection of acoustic guitars, electric guitars, bass guitars, ukulele's, etc. He's got all the fixings too. Everything is fair priced. If he doesn't have it, he'll try to get it in a timely manner for you. If he cannot get it, he will take the time to show you where you can get it for the best price. *Conclusion: After years of doing business with Mark, I simply have no complaints. His positive outlook on life and passion for music makes you want to come back. I won't be taking lessons anywhere else. It's not because I'm close minded... but because I have no reason to. I could continue to list many other parts/services that Mark offers, but I fear this is beginning to sound more like a commercial than a review. Hey, its just how I feel about Mark's Music. *On a side note: Before writing this, I wanted to see what other people were saying about Mark's Music. All 5 star ratings except one from "Jared S." stating that Mark is "wound up tighter than a drum...". This couldn't be further from the truth, as Mark is one of the most laid back people I've ever met. It was also stated that he leaves his lessons to help customers in his store. This is true. However, this RARELY happens. I will add that he is always conscious of your lesson times. He will never leave you alone for more than a few minutes. He will never leave you without something to work on while he's out of the room. He will never short you lesson time. If he has to run over the 30 minutes to make sure you get your full 30, then he'll do it. No one is getting cheated out of anything here. Although everyone is entitled to their opinion, and constructive criticism is generally accepted, I felt I needed to say something about "Jared S". His opinion with lack of constructive criticism made me curious. I was lucky to find Mark when, as an adult with no musical background, I decided to take up the bass guitar. I had already looked into some of what was available on line and realized that I was going to need a real teacher who could work with me face-to-face, and Mark has been amazing. He's taken me from complete beginner to competent player in under 4 years and has helped me over many self-imposed hurdles; the man has the patience of a saint. Each time I take a lesson with Mark he is ready with new tabbed music selected with just me in mind. Music of my particular interest that pushes me a bit further forward. This is hands on gentle teaching with instant feedback. I notice that one reviewer mentioned Guitar Zoom on the web. Mark is an amazing guitarist and teacher. He goes above and beyond to help his students and serve the customers in his store.
