Tried it twice. Wish I could leave a better review. Old location and the new one. First visit was escargot (so greasy it was inedible). And a burger, which was average but not stand out in any way. Overpriced for what we got, and service was extremely slow. (It was about 30% full at this time) Old location was divey, but not in a cool quirky way. The 'guest book' had a VERY lewd comment in it (quite long winded and extremely vulgar) the book was left open to that page, Which was in view of my 6 yr old. The comment also mentioned 'Santa' so of course caught the attention of small eyes. The owner was there and when I mentioned it,he laughed and thought it was hilarious. How classy. Second visit was to the new location. Went with a group that had pre arranged. Had the breakfast 'marche'. Which was the only option and had very limited choices if you aren't into bacon and eggs. I did Have a fresh omelette with spinach and feta which was quite good, but there were very few other choices that were health conscious. Service consisted of gesturing toward the other room to find the food, and bringing one round of drinks and then the bill. Terrible! Warm draft beer and terrible selection, menu doesn't offer many options. Settled for an app, ordered the bruschetta bread aka garlic bread with a couple pieces of feta. We held our Xmas party dinner at Mark's Finer Diner after reading the reviews and met with the owner who promised a Turkey Buffet set-up which included all the trimmings, salad, etc. When we arrived we were told that the food will be served in large plates at the table! My wife and I tried Mark's on the way to Bancoft from Toronto and we were very pleased with the great service and the food was very tasty. We had the home made chili and asked for extra spice. It was excellent! The home made apple pie was worth the visit. All in all we were very pleased. read more

I really wanted to like the food here... but it wasn't in the cards... the chicken was so overdone it was rubbery... the mashed potatoes were just plain dry potatoes that were mashed with no milk, seasoning or butter... the mixed veg was unseasoned... potato and leak soup tasted like those were the only two ingredients in it. The Greek salad that came with my friend's meal was swimming in so much vinegar he couldn't eat it. For forty dollars for two take away meals with no drinks... well we would have been further ahead to just grab a pizza slice somewhere and stayed about thirty bucks richer. The place was really eclectic and felt like you were eating in a cozy little cabin. I went there with my boyfriends family for a post Christmas dinner. The server was a really sweet girl who was helpful. The food took forever to come, with maybe 1-2 other groups in the entire restaurant. I had the Jack burger and my boyfriend had the ribs. The burger was pretty good, slightly dry but still had lots of flavour, the fries were alright and the coleslaw was MEH! The ribs were fall off the bone but had no sauce on them at all. I went for a brunch buffet on Mother's Day with my family and it was HORRIBLE! The service was terrible, the staff were not friendly what so ever. The plates and cutlery were dirty. The so called " buffet" was picked over with no fresh product. The man making the eggs was wiping sweat from his head and then touching food. He was Extremely arrogant and rude. I have been to the old site and now to this location .I am glad they are now in a larger building . Not only do I love the decor, I have always come out feeling my money was better spent. Held an event here. ALL of my guests were disgusted by the owner. He was fall down drunk. When half cooked chicken was served to three of my clients he came out yelling saying the chicken was cooked. Went to each table yelling at people to find who had complained. Then stuck his finger into their food pulled apart the chicken with his fingers said that the chicken is fine eat it and threw it back down in front of them. During our presentation he came out drunk yelling and laughing, disrupted our whole event. His brother in law had to come remove him. We went for dinner...they had run out of ribs for their chicken and rib special, so my husband was stuck with two tiny pieces of chicken (the size of 1 thigh) for the same price....no vegetarian options on the menu, except for one salad which was a plate of lettuce. Nine of us went there last Monday after our board meeting. Quite a few specials available. Most went for the homemade lasagna or fish & chips. The service was quick and food was good. Also tried a Smithworks ale from a local micro brewery which was excellent. I will go back. read more

My boyfriend and I had checked out Mark's a few weeks ago and loved it, great service, good food. However we went again the other night and I ordered escargots-which I will admit were very good, it was the service and professionalism that was lacking. While we ate our food, (at a very small table) there was a man who worked there who was reaching over us and our food to refill the half empty napkin dispenser. He also went on to talk about random things while I was just trying to enjoy my meal and date, he wasn't even our waiter. I had been enjoying my meal, but was full and wanted the rest wrapped to go, my boyfriend had finished his entire meal. I seen our waitress in the other room eating, so she had clearly gone on break while serving us. We waited a good 20 minutes for anyone to come to check on us or bring us our bill. I finally had to go track someone down and ask them for our bill. She didn't apologize and while paying with the atm machine another waitress dropped a dish and spilled beer all over my new sweater, apparently not noticing because I did not receive any apology or compensation of any kind, to say the least she didn't get a very great tip.
