I had high hopes for this little diner based on the reviews. The reality, however, was disappointing. We were able to grab one of the last open booths on a Saturday morning around 9am. The waitress was friendly and prompt. We each ordered a veggie omelet, one with fruit and the other with hash browns. For both omelets we specified Swiss cheese. You can see my photo, but the omelet was minuscule - maybe one of the smallest I've been served. To top it off, the cheese was clearly American which was not what we ordered (wrong on both). Further, the serving of hash browns was puny as well. Maybe this is typical here or may e it was just the morning we dined here, but either way not impressive. I give high marks to the coffee however. The coffee here is solid, robust and not bitter. read more

We left our resort in search of this place for breakfast. It was worth the search. I walked in and it felt like I was transported into time in a good way. I told my husband that if I owned a diner it would look and feel much like Marko's Diner. It feels like a "Cheers" where everybody know me your name. They didn't know Jack about us, yet we were treated to a proper greeting, a yummy breakfast, endless coffee refills and the price was great! I want to go back and try their Greek lunch. This area suffered greatly after the hurricane. You can still see devastation as communities try and rebuild. Super classic dive diner with a local groove. I'm not sure the history of this place but I'm pretty confident it's been around for a good spot of time. We sat outside which was nice and the menu is pretty standard breakfast food, which is perfectly alright. I got french toast with a blueberry drizzle, but they brought me fresh blueberries instead so our waitress made sure to get me the drizzle as well and I just got to have both, it was awesome. Food was hot and large portions! I had a breakfast burrito and it was fantastic! We've had most of whats on menu throughout our stay and although you may have to wait for a table...never longer than 5 minutes....worth the wait. Marko's was about a 35 minute drive but on a perfect Saturday morning, why not??? From the outside it has a retro diner feel and some cute outdoor tables with umbrellas perfect for a leisurely breakfast. The interior has black and white checkerboard flooring and a lot of three Stooges memorabilia. Now we sit down and immediately are greeted by our server with piping hot coffee and ice cold waters. The menu is vast with numerous lunch and breakfast specials, omelettes, skillets , house specialty pancakes, burgers , lots of choices. My western omelette was delicious, the veggies were finely sliced, the omelette was fluffy and the cheese was melted to perfection. The meal, the service, the atmosphere was great. A local place with a home town feel , busy, but not loud so you could actually carry on a conversation. First time here, and I loved it... Two people eat a full breakfast with beverages , for 30.00... Was it worth the drive??? Absolutely.... We ate here for breakfast while on vacation. Honestly, I was a little let down. The hashbrowns had an odd oil taste that no one liked at our table. Overall, we thought it was ok. The only thing we really enjoyed was the waffle. Super kind people and staff just not to our liking. I wouldn't eat here again. For 2 adults and a child our bill with tip was $61. Hubby and I stopped in for breakfast while in town for a weekend beach getaway. We both ordered the corned beef hash breakfast with eggs and hash browns. Everything was very fresh and tasty. Marko's boasts the best gyros in town, and they could be right. Mine came in a large, soft pita. The meat was thin shaved and full of flavor. A heaping scoop of yogurt sauce topped it off and balanced the lamb nicely. The sandwiches come with a cup of the soup of the day (chicken noodle soup - fantastic). The diner itself is humble and a bit out of the way, giving it a local, nostalgic feel of a simpler time. My new favorite breakfast place in the area. We 3 were the only tourists present, so seeing the place busy with locals was a good sign. I found this place on Yelp which rated it 4.5 stars. I give it 5. I had mentioned "we'll try it out" and my 13 year old granddaughter responded as we sat down: "You can tell how good a place is by their biscuits and gravy." By that measure, this is a 5 of 5. All 3 of us had biscuits and gravy. Two had 2 eggs over easy with that, hash browns came with, and a side of bacon. I had the 'Crazy Omelet' which has the usual suspects of veggies, ham and sausage, with hash browns on the side, biscuits and gravy on a separate plate. Home made, made from scratch, however you want to call it, this is not your packaged mix gravy or biscuits. The biscuits were not 3" tall sort of things - these were more compact, like you'd make at home from scratch, and flaky inside as they should be. The portions were enough to challenge our ability to eat it all, but not overwhelming. Perfect. We loved the team pennants on the wall, the Three Stooges pictures also, the black & white tile floor, the whole diner vibe. Relaxing, great service, good place to start the day. I'd go back in a second for lunch, but plans take us out of the area. But we will return! read more

The staff is so nice and personal; we love David, Deena, and the whole lot of them! While Fort Myers is getting busier and busier this place finds a way to handle business and continue to please the whole family. Every time we are back in town we stop by to get our favorites. David greets us whenever we are there, and knows exactly how I like my bacon crispy. Sometimes they are so busy but will usually acknowledge you at least but always worth the wait. It was onions, peppers, loose shredded hash browns, gyro meat, feta cheese topped with two eggs over medium. Oh, and it came with a side of toast. It was enough for two meals. . They have about seven other great skillets to pick from. The 2nd day I had the french toast with gyro meat and scrambled eggs. It was equally amazing. They brought me a small cup of homemad d tzatziki sauce. I wanted to take a gallon home. The coffee was the kind that is so comforting that it lingers in your mind. The service was prompt, friendly and efficient. The diner is small but has many tables, booths and counter service so the wait is minimal. Nice breakfast option with a good sized menu. Came on a Friday morning and the parking was a nightmare! There were cars parked behind other cars blocking them in. So, that means this place is pretty dang popular with the locals (and that they have no concern with other people trying to leave). Service was fast - food was hot. Friend ordered no tomatoes in her omelette, I think they added extra then two slices of tomato on the side for good measure. World's best breakfast? No.. but not a bad option. read more

I love this family owned breakfast and lunch place. The place can be incredibly busy at the weekends but great during the week. The waitresses were great and never have problem with them. They are simply professional, efficient and friendly. Today, I sat on the counter and have Marko's Omelet; omelet with tomatoes, onions, olives, Gyro and Feta cheese with a side of hash brown. The omelet is cooked properly and hash brown is well done with onions! Beside omelets, my favorite is a Gyro sandwich with fries and soup. Another wonderfully option. Give it a try! We have lived in SouthWest Florida for 13+ years and I am sorry to say that we only just discovered Marko's diner this past weekend (Feb 23rd 2019). The lovely Cindy, of CindyLou found excellent reviews on Yelp and we ventured in. This place screams to me of the Greek diners in NYC. From The black and white tile on the floor and the booths were retro. I love my old Greek diners in NYC and this one makes me feel at home. Cindy had a delicious turkey club sandwich, toasted nicely, prepared even nicer and was tasty. You also had the opportunity to try one of two old school black cauldron pots of soup. Cindy chose beef barley and rice. Was absolutely delicious. Wasn't over spiced or seasoned. I went with the gyro's omelette. I added feta, because I had many games to referee for a soccer tourney and didn't want too much of the other items in the Greek omelette. The Gyro's meat was well seasoned, but not overly seasoned. I really enjoyed this omelette. I had rye toast on the side and their hash browns were cooked as I like them, browned on top. The kids ordered a grilled cheese kids meal and pancake breakfast with bacon. Two pancakes came with bacon. I had to try the pancakes. I will definitely do the pancakes on the side next visit. They were cooked on a griddle top. Perfectly made and large size pancakes. Amazingly tasty! Can't wait to go back for real good food! Enjoy! read more
