Five stars are for their fairness, for their being communicative, and for the company's being easy to work with: My garage door opener turned out to have an issue of sensor alignment. The specialist on the phone, Louis, spent 15 minutes with me to teach me what the issue was and how to fix it (free of charge). The issue is fixed now. This is in full contrast to my experience with other companies: I had the same issue last winter, I called another company and the serviceman who came to service the door opener, changed his mind about the issue several times, trying to convince me to buy a new garage door opener each step of the way while charging me $150 for the service. I will be contacting Markham Garage Doors for future issues with my garage door as their professionalism and fairness was manifested by them helping me with the door opener. Professionals like Louis are rare, and company's that foster such a culture are hard to come by in this day and age. This company was recommended by a friend for: quality products, fair pricing, quick and easy to work with. We first visited the showroom to take a look at their stock and get a rough estimate. Nice products with varying levels of insulation. They came quickly thereafter to our home to do a thorough quote and three weeks later the doors were ready to be installed. They warned us that it would be a full day to install. When the installer arrived he suggested it would be about 3.5 hours and then he finished in 2.5 hours. Amazing. Beautiful, quiet doors and I will return to parking my car in the garage. They will return in one week to install the capping. read more

MGD recently hired an additional staff to help alleviate the workload, partly to prevent administrative mistakes and inconveniences from happening again. I'd like to applaud MGD for taking feedback from public forums seriously and in a positive manner. My opinion of MGD has always been that it is a competent and quality garage door installer with great product, workmanship and pricing. The administrative error, though unfortunate, never sways myself from recommending it to others. Thank you MGD for striving to improve customer services even at a cost to adding staffs. The installation workmanship was fine enough. They not only replaced the door and the frame, they also replaced the old weather stripling. Home Depot wouldn't do this. Unfortunately, the salesman mixed up our appointment. We had email confirmation for the appointment. I took a day off work to wait for the installer. When he failed to show up in the morning, I called the office. They didn't put our installation on the schedule! They wouldn't work after hours or weekend, so I was stuck taking another day of vacation to wait for them. They did show up on time the next time. In terms of pricing, MGD is cheaper than Home Depot even when Home Depot put their doors on sale at 15% off regular price. (Hint: now you know you can negotiate over 15% off when you interview with any garage door installation company.) While MGD carry a few manufacturers, they definitely promote Clopay products to residential customers. In this regard, they are no different from a few other major players in the market. If you can spend more for a nicer door, they represent 2 other really nice manufacturers. Truly exquisite doors and expensive, too. If it is only for the price, product and installation workmanship, MGD is worthy of 5 stars. Mixing up installation appointment is a major minus. It appears their salesmen are not doing a great job in wrapping up the administrative loose ends. As minor as the mistake, it caused a big inconvenience on my end, not to mention that I wasted a day of vacation sitting at home for no good reason. My garage door wouldn't close, i found that the chain was off, climbed up to hook the chain back on, the sprocket was broken, apparently the sprocket breaking is a common problem due to age. This opener came with the house and is about 20+ years old. I seen the reviews of Markham Garage Doors on homestars, and decided to call them up to see if this was repairable. I talked to Chris, who was very pleasant to deal with, He said that it was repairable, so he said that they could be here in an hour. I talked to my wife, and she suggested that we should consider a new machine due to the age. I called Chris back and he recommended the liftmaster belt drive within my budget. Ryan the installer, came and did a clean amazing install, and lubed the entire system (rollers, spring ect). The new garage door opener came with a keypad, which we didnt have before. The belt driven opener is quiet !! compared to the previous chain drive. I am very happy i called Markham Garage Doors, and recommend them to anyone. What could have been a big headache was solved within 2 hrs. Prices are very competitive and fair. read more
