Beautiful farm shop and lovely restaurant attached. The customer service is also usually very good…read more I believe everything is made at the farm and their soups and stocks are my absolute favourite. They're expensive but I do feel are worth it. We had some disappointing hot cross buns recently that definitely weren't fresh. We got the individual ones and they were dry and harder than the last ones we had. The hot cross bun bites were really good though. They reminded me of energy bites, lots of dates and spices. I'd definitely recommend those! Be prepared to spend money. Even as a local I forget how much it can be sometimes. We got 2 scoops of rice/quinoa with a few raisins in from the deli and it was more than £10! At Christmas their smallest wreath was £80 and the mistletoe was £20...I literally picked up an identical sprig from the Burford garden centre for £3 the same day I saw it at Daylesford.

If you're taking a trip to the Cotswolds you best stop at Daylesford!…read more No, but seriously, it's beautiful. I'm a big fan of their farmshop and some friends and I had a little weekend here and bought all of our grocery and picnic items from here. DREAAAAMMMMM. Their food is delicious and all comes from the farm, which I love. They have a lovely variety of salads and hummus and snacks and yogurts and really really nice things. Yes, it's more expensive but you get delicious local food, and it's worth it.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!…read more I visited Café Huxleys on my mum's 69th birthday with my stepdad. We were staying nearby and wanted to explore the area, having not visited this part of the Cotswolds before. Unfortunately, our experience was deeply disappointing and concerning -- particularly for anyone with food allergies, intolerances, or ethical dietary requirements. If you have a food intolerance, allergy, or follow a vegan diet, please exercise extreme caution here. I fancied a hot chocolate and specifically asked the senior waitress whether it was dairy-free or contained milk. She assured me that it was made only with cocoa powder and that if I chose oat milk, it would be dairy-free. On that basis, I ordered two hot chocolates (both with oat milk) and my mum ordered sparkling water. When the younger waitress brought our drinks, a biscuit was placed on the saucer. After taking one sip of the hot chocolate, I instantly recognised the unmistakable taste of dairy -- something I haven't consumed for many years due to intolerance. I immediately asked the young waitress whether the biscuit was dairy-free. She said she didn't know and went to check with the owner. I witnessed him smirk, laugh slightly, and tell her that it was dairy-free. His reaction already made me uneasy, so I asked directly, "Are you sure? I'm dairy intolerant." Only then did he quickly change his response to, "Oh yes, it's dairy -- don't eat it!" At that point, I called over the same senior waitress who had taken my order and asked again whether the hot chocolate was dairy-free. She looked flustered and admitted, "Oh no, it's not dairy-free -- only the oat milk is." Before we'd ordered drinks, I had actually spoken to the owner about whether they offered any vegan meal options, as we were considering returning later for dinner. He didn't even make eye contact -- he just smirked and bluntly said, "No," in a dismissive tone. Once it was clear both the owner and waitress had given me incorrect information, I told them calmly that I was extremely unhappy and would not be paying. I had specifically asked whether the drink contained dairy, and they had explicitly told me it did not. The most troubling part of this experience wasn't just the rudeness or dismissiveness, but the lack of responsibility around food safety. It appears they only take dietary restrictions seriously when the word "allergy" is used -- not when a person says they are vegan or intolerant. As a result, I became unwell and what should have been a lovely day celebrating my mum's birthday was ruined. This café needs urgent staff training around allergens, dietary awareness, and customer care. Until then, I would strongly advise others -- especially those with allergies or ethical food requirements -- to avoid this establishment.

Walking the Cotswolds Round over the course of 7 days meant never quite knowing where I was, where I was going, or what I'd find there so when I came to the Blockley Cafe and found handsome groups brunching at tables indoors and out with leashed dogs at their feet I was sorry that I was still full from breakfast. Still, there's always room for a latte and carrot cake, especially if it gives one the opportunity to hang out at such an attractively casual spot. The service here is nice if a little a wonky due to the popularity of the place. It mattered little though. Blockley Cafe just has a wonderful vibe. The Village Shop is attached to the Cafe (or vice versa) and it was the sort of market that I enjoy looking through. Prices were very good for specialty foods I'd like to bring back home with me. Blockley's inescapable claim to fame is that the popular BBC series, "Father Brown" is filmed at the church that sits mere steps from the Cafe. So it's somewhat mandatory to visit that before or after a stop at the Cafe.
