For the past few years I have been passing this place and thinking of stopping by but until last…read moreweek I just hadn't. A friend from Amish Country was with us and instead of driving by, we stopped in to investigate because the sign read "Amish Market." Let me tell you, DO NOT judge a book by it's cover. The business was apparently damaged by a flood, so don't let the exterior turn you off. Come on in and take a step back in time. Fresh vegetables, fresh fruit, cheeses, candies, nuts and dried fruit candies, canned fruits, salsas, pickled everything, Amish soaps and lotions and I could go on and on. My friend from Amish country was ecstatic when she found her grandmother Troyer's soaps and lotions ... omg!!! It's a mom & pop style operation and your support, I'm certain would be appreciated. It's like a farmer's market under one roof. What are you waiting for? I'll return for sure!!

I saw this somewhere about it being an Amish store but when you think Amish store you think…read moresomewhat affordable but their prices are a little extreme. An example of this is a jar of marinated mushrooms was either $10 or $15. A sticker just a basic sticker that's about 2 inches is a dollar , old Christmas candy from 2 1/2 months ago was $6.50 for about something you would get if it wasn't a holiday three dollars at Walmart but since it's Christmas it should've been discounted. About five dollars for a tiny container of maybe 2 ounces of gummy bears.

The farmers work very hard to get a good crop of Strawberries out for the community. I asked them…read moreabout if the farm was organic and if they use pesticides. The response was very kind. They said no they're not organic and there is no Farms in this region that are organic. They explained the chemicals is like taking a vitamins and medicine. It helps feed and protect them from pest and diseases. That they follow all practices set by the EPA. I found the farm very clean despite water puddles from the rain last week.

We called to find out if the strawberries were organic, if not, what are they treated with. We were…read moreresponded to quite rudely with arrogance and a condescending attitude. She kept stating "Why would we want to kill our strawberries? We follow all EPA rules and guidelines. If we didn't treat them, we wouldn't have any berries. I personally researched every single chemical because I don't want to be around harmful chemicals." Neither her nor Steve have any respect or tact when dealing with customers who ask things they do not like. For those who want to know - Ridomil Gold and apparently Clorox according to one of their very own comments on Facebook to another farm - that have now been deleted by the owners but l have screenshots of it. The strawberries are also advertised as 1 gallon, which they specifically said yields 5lbs. Unless your bucket is overflowing, you aren't getting 5lbs. We bought several and upon weighing them at home, only 1 gallon was 5lbs. The rest were right at 4lbs. It adds up. After seeing how they respond to customers who have every right to know what is in their food, we will not be returning. I would sooner just buy from a store and I don't say that lightly as we are a cattle farming family, we prefer to support other local farms. Not this one however.

We sampled a few, and the views while snacking were straight out of a postcard--peaceful, pretty, and perfect for pretending you're in a cheese commercial. Whatever you do, don't skip the Café. It's in this gorgeous, huge old barn that's been lovingly renovated into a temple of ooey-gooey grilled cheese goodness. It's basically sacred ground for sandwich lovers. Grilled cheese is their thing, and oh boy, do they do it justice. My husband went for the Smoked Bologna, I had The Big Cheese (because... obviously), and our friends followed our lead. No regrets. These sandwiches are THICK, golden, buttery slabs of bread hugging melted cheese like it's a warm embrace from grandma. Pro tip: One whole sandwich is basically a cheesy Everest. My husband took half to go. I, on the other hand, showed no restraint. Dessert? Oh yeah. We shared a chocolate peanut butter shake (sin in a cup), and our friends had the cake batter one--because balance, right? Also, they have a super cute shop where I snagged some Tennessee jams to bring home. Gifts, I said. For others. (Probably.) It's a lovely spot--perfect for a chill picnic with family or friends... or to just sit quietly while your food coma gently sets in.
