i shop at this market basket regularly, and i went in on a tuesday afternoon and i have met a women there named victoria 3 years, and she was AMAZING... she was kind, and pleasant and was able to assist me with all my needs. she said she just got to this store a few months ago.. and let me tell you that this store needs more people like her. the employees are zombies there. to have someone so is so bubbly, personable and pleasant was a nice experience! i'm happy to continue to shop there again! read more

I will never return to this MB again. It is so disorganized and the location of items makes no sense. Every single isle had at LEAST 1 employee, sometimes 2 or 3, in the way of everything ON A SUNDAY AT 4PM. Just a heads up! This morning at 7:45, I went to Market Basket in Londonderry and had another in a series of horrible experiences with incorrect pricing. One of my items was a single white onion. The price posted was .89 per pound, but at checkout I was charged $1.29 per pound. I told the cashier about the error and requested a correction, so he called for a manager. The manager came over, took the onion and got on the phone. Three minutes later he returned and said according to the produce manager, the price was $1.29 per pound . I politely stated that he could keep the onion. As I wasn't feeling good about this, and since this is a recurring issue, I went over and took a picture of the price showing .89 per pound for white onions and returned to show him before I left. He looked at me, rolled his eyes in exasperation, and stated "I'll let the produce manager know." I then informed him that I was considering posting about it on Yelp, to which he replied "Whatever you think you need to do." This response was rude, condescending, dismissive, and unprofessional, so this is, indeed, what I think I need to do. I'm tired of this "bait and switch" attitude, counting on the fact that many customers won't notice. Food prices have risen beyond many people's financial reach, and every little bit counts. This store used to be amazing. There used to be a great manager at this store named Mark . Since Mark left, the store has been sliding in pricing, service and quality. Watch your receipts on items because its happened before and if you don't catch it they get away with it. Apparently even when you catch it they won't change it! Unbelievable! I've been a customer of MB in Hudson since they opened up over 35 years ago....For the most part, I'm completely satisfied....always thought employees and ALL managers go out of their way to help us, and I appreciate it...(especially when items get moved to other aisles, lol) Loving to cook as much as I do, I spend lots of time in the store (and money but much less than I would have in other grocery stores)....I have to applaud Mr. Boivin, store manager, I most always see him on the floor, readily available and helping us willingly..kudos to Pedro, produce manager, who has shown me how to pick out ripe pineapples, avocados, melons, etc...both Mikes, one of them asst. store mgr. I think....I'm never told which aisle to go to, they either bring me or go themselves and get what I'm looking for ...Terry who works in the beauty aisle, always a big help to me !! Deli mgr., Felicia, am very impressed with......love most cashiers, especially Cindy, Charlie and Paula!! list goes on and on...have to mention I buy most all my wines from MB rather than the state liquor store, next door.....great prices and most have coupons to use, lol..ok now for the downside....I do wish aisles were wider, but they can't do anything about it, it is what it is...hate having pallets in front of what item I need, grrrr....wish they did stock in off hours....but at least I always see employees busy, lol...always pray I don't run over their legs while they are bent on floor....so far so good....last thing is when they are out of something I especially need, I am forced to go to one of their competitors, who usually has item needed.....(realize employees put in warehouse requests but doesn't always be successful....truly I don't wanna go elsewhere to get what I need :( You know the add for Olive Garden....when you are there you "are family"....?? Deli order came with black residue on the genoa salami. A gross strain of brown meat in the center of an entire half pound of turkey. Asked for one ham got another. Also, the old man at the deli was joking about "doing" one female customer tonight and the other tomorrow instead of take you now and you after her. Quite gross. read more

Market Basket has the best stable prices around. They don't do loyalty cards or gimmicky sales because they don't need to use tricks to make you feel like you're getting a good price. Yes, the parking lots are awkward and crowded. Market Basket saves money by owning the plazas that the stores are in and the plazas tend to be old and not planned for the modern level of car traffic or the traffic flow that around the plaza that changed over the decades. Many elderly and disabled people do shop in these stores. The compactness and lower shelving units make it physically easier. I'm one of the people who might be in your way, I have a neurological vision impairment though I'm young. I'm sorry if you are in a rush and I can't see you trying to get around me. I don't expect a lot out of grocery shopping, and I expect even less out of a Market Basket, but after my fifth (and final) trip to this particular Market Basket, I have had enough. Many people consider THIS Market Basket to be "The Good Market Basket" or "The Nice Market Basket". After all, it's always crowded and it has an actual bakery. That's fancy, right? Well, let me tell you something. It is always crowded because: 1) There is not enough parking, and their parking lot was designed by morons or auto insurance agents panning for business. 2) At least two-thirds of the regular shoppers of "The Good Market Basket" pick the most high-traffic times to go shopping and bring their entire extended family along with them to bicker and banter amongst the aisles. I'm trying to tighten up the budget, so I decided to give Market Basket another shot since I will admit that their prices are as low as it gets -- they even blow Walmart out of the water. I realize now that they accomplish this by never paying for cleaning products or stockers who are intelligent enough to remove clearly rotten and/or unsafe food from circulation. During this trip, I encountered the following: 1) A frightening number of expired dairy products on the shelf. 2) A thick layer of dust on every jar of peanut butter in stock. 3) THREE jars of jam with popped safety seals before I found one that I felt secure might not kill me. 4) More rotten produce than in a pig's trough. 5) Nervous-breakdown inducing crowds of misbehaving children. I thought I made it out of there with a decent haul of groceries, but discovered that the chicken breasts (whose sell-by date was 3 days in the future) smelled like rotten eggs, the hidden portions of the shrink-wrapped bell peppers and clementines I bought were TOTALLY ROTTEN AND SHRIVELED (and seriously -- why do they shrink-wrap EVERYTHING on those styrofoam meat trays?!), and the safety seal on my half and half was halfway peeled off. It's not saving money when you have to throw half the food away because it's inedible (and spend your savings on Xanax to help recover from the trauma of dealing with the frenzied masses that swarm the store). I'd rather clip coupons and stick with Stop & Shop, Shaw's, or even the overpriced but fabulous Hannaford. Even Super Walmart on 101A is a classier store with better products. Yes, Market Basket, you made me call Walmart CLASSY. read more

I have tried most grocery stores in the area and this is without a doubt in my mind the best. 1. It is always crowded. This is good because that means the food is flying out the door. If you compare expiration dates on meat for example it is 'youngest' here. I have been burned a couple of times by the Stop and Shop across the street. I have even seen expired baby food on sale over there. The produce here always lasts the longest once it gets to my house. 2. It is the cheapest. I love to cook and I like being inspired. I check the flyer to see what is on sale and build my menu for the week to suit. 3. There are about a hundred people working there all the time. This ensures that the shelves are always stocked and if I can't find something I've got backup. 4. They have prepared foods and a bakery. This means when I get home after running my errands I can have a caprese salad with fresh bread or a rotisserie chicken to tear into when I get home. For these reasons it is worth it to me to deal with a crazy parking lot and having to walk slower because of all the other shoppers. Hey, we're all here for the same reason. read more

This is your good old fashioned grocery store, no gimmicks, no memberships. If you don't mind fighting through the busy store for some great deals. The prices here are much better than stop and shop. This store is busy, great for people who grocery shop once every week or two lines are usually longer because of that and longer on the weekend. Store has a in-house bakery, kitchen, deli. The store will look a little bit old fashioned and run down on the inside and not as clean and styled as the stop and shop across the street. The best part about this store is everything is always well stocked. If a sale it is out of stock they will gladly give you a raincheck. Generally, if you don't like grocery shopping for more than a handful of items at a time then look elsewhere like Hanaford but expect to pay a little more. read more

I do not buy eggs at any market basket. My husband bought a dozen. The way to check eggs is to put them in water and make sure they are covered. If they float up, they are old eggs. This is where I shop. It's crowded, and the parking lot is kinda slow to get through, but it's cheap. I go when it opens on Saturday. It's less crowded, but still busy. how they keep the shelves stocked I don't know! I hadn't thought about it, but one of the other reivewers mentioned that the fact that it as always crowded ensured a fresher product. I went to shaws Out of desperation a couple weeks ago, and the first few yogurts were expired... by a month. maybe it was the sell by date and not expiration.. I don't know. But I do know, in the beginning of October, you don't want to be buying yogurt that has a date of mid September on it. I digress. but anyway. It's cheap here. Might not be quite as fancy and pretty as Hannaford or shaws but my dollars will be spent here as long as they don't jack up the prices. read more

This morning I went to the Hudson Market Basket to do my weekly grocery shopping. When I was finished getting my order rung through, the bill came up to $53.07. I thought I gave the cashier $60.00, but I accidentally gave her $70.00 because one of the bills got stuck together. It was like the cashier didn't know what she was doing. When I got home, I realized that the cashier didn't give me the correct change back so I went back and asked her about the change and she didn't give me my change back which was $10.00. So I went up to customer service and told them about what happened and they were very nice and helpful and understanding. They even gave me change back and they also gave me an extra $10.00 for all my troubles. I thought that was very nice. read more

I live in Lowell but decided to shop at the Hudson Market Basket and found the overall experience to be excellent. The staff is very friendly and super helpful down every isle, at the deli and registers. I noticed that the manager was walking around and saying Hello to every employee by name and wishing them a good morning. This really stood out to me and you can tell it created a nice atmosphere. I thought that taking the time to acknowledge all of his employees along with saying Hello to me really made a difference. After I checked out of the store the gentleman that was gathering the carriages came over to help me load my vehicle with my groceries which topped the experience and made my day ! I normally don't necessarily enjoy going grocery shopping but this experience has started to change my point of view and I am looking forward to going back to Hudson next week. I appreciate the thoughtfulness and the customer satisfaction I personally experienced at the Hudson store. Thank you !! read more

My 2nd favorite MB. It is always busy, but the cashiers and baggers are almost eerily friendly. I often stop here on my way home from Salem on the weekdays, getting here about 11AM. This is when the old people shop, so I'm not only navigating my way through narrow aisles and boxes of unshelved goods, but also weaving the cart around scooters, wheelchairs, and walkers. But it's all good! I respect bargain hunters, young and old, and MB has the best grocery prices in New England. read more

I've lived in Hudson since 1985 & have been a loyal MB shopper all these years. Yes, it is always crowded. Yes, since it is on the Ma boarder, customers come from out of state with their entourage of family members..but, the managers always say hello to me & if I have a problem, I speak up & am always satisfied with the attention I get. I feel this is MY neighborhood grocery store & will continue to be a loyal shopper forever!! P.S. My kids are on their own now & are also loyal MB shoppers. read more

The reviews pretty much hit the nail on the head for this Market Basket. I'm a former employee of not only the front registers, but the deli as well. A few tips, -Buy Market Basket brand, it's the SAME thing as the big label brand, it just has a MB sticker on it and it's usually cheaper. -If you're not a fan of crowds and you're willing to give up one morning a week to shopping, go right as the store opens on a week day. Few moms, few elderly, the only people you'll be fighting with are the produce meat and dairy stockers. Great parking, you're in, you're out, move on with your day. -Stockers rotate the freshest food to the back placing older food in the front (meats, dairy, etc) so pick from the back. -Everything comes from a freezer and is hand packaged. Stuff on the warmer plates, most of the display cases by the deli, etc. Not fresh, but close to it. You can probably get the same thing in the freezer section. It's a great store, good prices, can't beat it. read more

Market Basket all the way! I used to spend $350-$450 shopping at the Shaw's Nashua NH store, but now I go to Market Basket in Hudson and get out for less than $300 almost every time (i.e., Chobani Yogurt MB=5/$5, Shaw's=$1.29 each...) Not only that, but I can buy chicken leg quarters again without fear of finding trimmed fat buried in the package as I did at Shaw's - guess it filled out the packages and added a touch more profit :-\ read more
