I've been here a dozen times and really enjoy the staff. Sue did laser hair removal on me over six sessions, and it turned out great with the caveat that it doesn't zap gray hairs, which I have a lot of. I should have done it 30 years ago. Jeanna did two kinds of IPL on my face, and the results were subtle but good. Peggy has done several injections of Jeuveau and Juvederm, and she is an expert at getting the results I wanted. They all understand that there is some pain involved in these procedures and do a good job of making me feel comfortable. read more

I went to Sofonio's last week to have an Ultherapy treatment and also to get some Botox injections and I couldn't be happier with the service that I got! First, Nurse Cindy was the person who took care of my Ultherapy treatment. Sofonio's is the only place I could find in the valley that does the procedure and thankfully, Cindy is one of the top providers in the country for the service. She is a pro and it shows. After doing my research, I prepared myself for what could potentially be an uncomfortable procedure. But honestly, I felt next to nothing the entire time! Cindy knows what she is doing! Of course, I won't see the results for up to 6 months after having the procedure done. But I think I am already seeing some results. Nurse Peggy took care of my Botox injections (actually it was a similar product, I just forgot the name!). I let her know that I was a 'virgin'. I had never gotten the treatment done before. She took time to explain how it worked and let me know that if I wasn't happy, to let her know. Of course, results from Botox take up to 10 days before you see the full effect, but what I have seen so far, I might just become addicted! I made an appointment to get a facial from Danielle and she was wonderful!! I thoroughly enjoyed it. Beautiful clinic, she was very professional, friendly and I was impressed. When I was done, I mistakenly asked if they had an injector available, as I wanted a little touch up on Botox and fillers for my lip lines and number 11's What a mistake that was! Jon, a PA who did the injections has the personality of a dead fish, was very unfriendly and unprofessional. Nothing welcoming or warm and fuzzy about that guy. I was shocked when he handed me a tiny lip ice pack and told me to hold it on my lips while he was preparing injections. I have never had injections without lidocaine and mentioned that to him. He didn't seem to care what I had to say. Very pompous and arrogant. Turned out his technique was very painful, I bled quite a bit which has never happened in the 3+ yrs I've been getting Botox and fillers. I had serious swelling though I kept ice on lips for hours afterwards, bruising and lumps in my lips that are now just starting to go down after 2 weeks. I called to speak with him the day after, but he wasn't in. When he returned my call his next work day, he was condescending and rude. Told me to keep icing them, said I am a bleeder, etc. Totally disappointed with this experience and I strongly advise you to steer clear of him. Again experience with Danielle was Great!! I am new to the area and was referred to Dr. Mark Sofonio by my sister who did a ton of research on plastic surgeons. I went with her for a consultation and immediately I felt very confident in his ability to do amazing work. He and his staff are so nice and treat you like you are the only client. He takes his time and doesn't try to over sell you on things you don't want or need. I then made an appointment for him to do an under eye tuck (to get rid of icky under eye skin) LOVE the results. So easy. He also fixed a scar I had in my eyebrow and did a revision to my chin. :) It was a great experience and I am completely satisfied. I highly recommend this doctor. Five months ago I had medically necessary plastic surgery by Dr. Sofonio. The surgery went well and I am pleased with the results. The entire fee I paid up front, not unusual for plastic surgery, and I believe it was reasonable. I told the financial person there my intention of submitting by expenses to my insurance company (a Medicare advantage plan) after the surgery and I mentioned this more than once to Dr. Sofonio. His office was very helpful in gathering the necessary documents to submit to my insurance company. And, my insurance did agree that the procedure was medically necessary however they informed me that there would be no reimbursement because Dr. Sofonio had "opted-out" of Medicare. My issue is WHY DIDN'T DR. SOFONIO OR HIS FINANCIAL PERSON TELL ME THAT BEFORE THE SURGERY? I knew that they didn't deal directly with insurance or Medicare but a doctor can still be "approved" and actually when Dr. Sofonio showed me his surgery room, before my surgery, he told me it was approved by Medicare. And when I first called the office asking about his status with Medicare, the office manager (mistakenly) told me he was approved by Medicare. Now his office is finally telling me that, no, he is not approved by Medicare. This has cost me thousands of dollars. read more

AMAZING SURGEON!!! This was my 2nd time going to this amazing man. Dr. Sofonio did my breast augmentation 14 yrs ago after 5 children with bringing them back to fullness and perfection. Well after having my 6th baby at 40 and having gastric sleeve surgery and now I'm 49, I went back to have my implants replaced to become fuller again and 5 areas of Lipo. He is a perfectionist and explains everything to you. I'm in love with my breasts and my hourglass figure again. This is not political! My children gave me a family photo album for Christmas. As I reviewed the pictures I was slightly horrified by one photo from 3 years ago showing my neck practically starting at my chin - in another 5 years I'd have a gobbler neck like Mitch McConnell! I called Dr Sofonio's office the next day! I met with Dr Sofonio twice before surgery. He listened to what I did and didn't want, explained everything completely and answered my questions. This was an easy surgery, yes some discomfort but not pain. I did follow all of the instructions and was able to be on my own the next day after my follow up visit. Excellent service, Mark and his staff really know what they are doing, the facility is top notch and very comfortable to be in. My wife and I have been there many times and the atmosphere is happy and friendly. iIt's a stand alone facility on its own property, no parking structures or multiple floors here which is a nice change of pace compared to most other hospitals or surgury rooms that feel less personal and more commercialized. I would never recommend this office for many reasons. Firstly, they are not good at filler and Botox (I went elsewhere to have it done properly and in one visit, she did more than they ever did in dozens of visits). The women who all work there are rude and disrespectful, and after I got burned by a machine, I had to chase the doctor for my refund - which he waited seven months before telling me I could get! This, after going there for over four years and spending at least 10k. After repeated phone calls and emails that went unanswered to his go-between Aida, a nasty individual who was horrible to deal with, the doctor demanded I drive two hours back and forth to pick up a form that I could have printed from my home computer! He literally made me jump through hoops before giving me back my own money! Then, the day I went to pick up my check which was supposedly ready for me four days earlier, he played more games like making my husband and I wait over an hour. I found out later -after writing this review -that he filed a phony report against me which is Illegal! This doctor is such a shady liar. I wouldn't let him near me with a knife. What he put me through was so unpleasant. He dragged this out for months - it was disgusting! He even lied about sending me a check when he never did - and refused to finish treating the scar on my arm, which he promised in writing, and which remains prominent eight months later. Jeana, a so-called professional assigned to treat my arm with the laser, claimed she was uncomfortable treating me or some other woke b.s. excuse - or this shady doctor just lied and said that to avoid treating me. Susan, the one whose machine burned me, had the audacity to call me ungrateful as though I didn't spend over $1000 to get scarred! The girls at the front are unfriendly and apparently liars for saying I was violent - of all things to make up! - when they refused to give me my check after telling me to come get! Shameful. Filing a phony report is ILLEGAL- and libelous. For anyone there who's reading this, consider this a warning. This whole office is a bunch of backstabbing liars - especially the charlatan doctor. read more

The radiation he used at his "skin cancer institute" in Rancho mirage/ palm desert to remove a squamous cell carcinoma on my temple and gave me 3rd degree burn, which the guy doing the radiation , (a real charmer NOT) John said was my fault for touching it?? Would you touch a 3" burn on your temple created to remove a 2-3 cm non lethal skin cancer? My update is: It is 2022 and I have a three inch scar on my temple. Not only is all the pigment gone from that temple but I actually have a DENT on that side. DO NOT DO RADIATION FOR SKIN CANCER until you get 2 nd , 3rd etc opinions , and I believe that "skin cancer institute " is closed. I hope so! read more

Dr. Sofonio and his staff are generally great. I had a procedure done by Dr. Sofonio almost a year ago and continue to be extremely pleased with the results. Further, the office staff, as well as other staff whom I saw in connection with the procedure were absolutely terrific. Subsequently, I recommended a friend who had a procedure performed by Dr. Sofonio, and she too, was extremely happy with the results. Here is the exception to this office: John, the man who does botox/filler procedures is positively awful. He is condescending, unprofessional, and mostly just bad at his job. Almost from the moment I sat down in his chair, he proceeded to tell me that he wished he could live at his "other house" full time in Arizona because he doesn't like the politics in California. He then injected me with a product that, after waiting over a week to take effect, I noticed did absolutely nothing. In all of the years I have been having Botox/fillers, this has NEVER happened with anyone who has performed these procedures on me. I then decided to go to Dr B (the other cosmetic/filler professional at the office, who, by the way is fantastic) for a re-do of the poor work that John did. (Unfortunately, I was unable to see Dr. B at the outset because it was during the holidays and she was unavailable, which is why I initially made the appointment with John). Never again. This guy is horrendous, has an extremely abrupt and unprofessional manner, and stinks at his job. Stay away. I hope that Dr. Sofonio will take note of this complaint.
