The way they work with you is very good. After going with him for almost 1 year, I got used to the way he works on you. Sort of feels like a "quick spa visit". I finally had to stop going, though, simply because of personal reasons. He's friendly and outgoing to a fault: the man will not shut up about his private life. Early on, I answered a few of the standard personal questions (engaged, yes, having kids, maybe) and I don't know if he does it with everyone or just me, but it opened the floodgates for TMI. In the years that I went to him, I heard stories about dating, marriage, pregnancy, childbirth, breastfeeding, miscarriages, and got advice on all of the above, when all I wanted was a neck readjustment. After a while, I just couldn't take it any more, and began seeing a physical therapist for my chronic neck and back issues. I'm much happier and pain-free for it. Good chiro, yes. But bring earplugs unless you'd like to know everything there is to know about his personal life.

I visited Dr. Valencia to see if he could be an option for regular chiropractic care. I liked that…read morehe incorporates strength exercises into his chiropractic treatment. He came with good reviews and we had a long intake session for my first visit. While I was doing exercises he was composing a long text message explaining my options to pay for my visits. My session ended a little late and he had another client waiting. He sent his text and explained that I needed to pay for that visit, so I could pay for the initial visit or I could save money by buying a pack of ten all at once. I explained that I wanted to go through my insurance and have it go through my deductible and he had no problem with that and said the package offers a 20% discount for my insurance. Given that I had a good session and he was waiting for me to pay for the session I agreed and bought a ten-pack. Later the doctor sent his rates. In looking at the rates, I was paying more per visit with the ten pack then if I just paid for each session one by one, so was not happy that I was convinced to pay for a ten pack at a higher rate. We had communication back and forth to see if I can switch the package, but he said he's never done that in 30 years. Then Dr. Valencia said his contact at my insurance said he could charge his standard rates, not the contracted rates, until I met my deductible. I immediately called the insurance company and verified that that statement was wrong and he had to follow his contracted rates. At that point, I did not want to receive care from Dr. Valencia since he exhibited questionable integrity. I asked him for a refund and agreed to pay the Square fees net of the visits that I paid for. Dr. Valencia proceeded to be very rude in his communications with me after that and he took over a month to submit his refund. In that refund, he charged me for more fees than we agreed, but I just want to be done with him. Good luck to anyone you uses his care, I'd suggest billing one session at a time until you trust him.

When the films were ready, I called to make an appointment to get the results and was told the doctor was gone for a week and then was booked for at least a week after he got back. I requested that since I was only getting results from the MRI to find out what I was dealing with that I be given an appointment with another doctor. They said I was Dr. Mishra's patient and could not be seen by another doctor unless I transferred my entire case. I stated that if that was the only way I could get my results quickly, then that was okay with me. Then all hell broke loose and I was told I needed to talk to the office manager....was given her voicemail where I left TWO messages on TWO separate days and never received a call back. Needless to say, I contacted the lab facility and had the MRI results sent to my chiropractor and within a day, I got the results and was able to begin treatment and continue working. Had it been up to Dr. Mishra's office, I would have continued to be in pain and out of work for at least 2 weeks while I waited for Dr. Mishra. I never went back. Now I'm seeing an orthopedic surgeon and need the original MRI films from Dr. Mishra's office. When I called to say I needed to pick them up tomorrow, the receptionist actually SIGHED into the phone and told me she would have to go "digging into the files" to look for them. LOOK FOR THEM? How about looking in my file which should be easy if you know the alphabet??? Good grief! I can't wait to see how long this takes........... ****UPDATE***** Dr. Mishra's office LOST my MRI films...the lab has to reprint them...thank goodness the lab was nice enough to not charge me the usual $50 fee for the reprint...as a professional courtesy to the idiots at Mishra's office...unbelievable....

So instead of doing some critical thinking he just passed me off to another doctor at another practice!! Overall, nice doctor, very knowledgeable, great recommendation of physical therapist. I have been seeing Dr. Legaspi at Bay Area Acupuncture for about a year and a half now, and I can…read morehonestly say he is one of the most genuine, compassionate, highly skilled, and knowledgeable doctors I have ever met. I truly believe this is his calling. I live with extremely complex and severe conditions, including stage 3 full-body CRPS (one of the highest pain conditions on the national pain scale), erythromelalgia, severe nerve pain that constantly fires as stabbing, burning, and electric shock sensations, piriformis syndrome, bulging and degenerative disc issues, spinal stenosis, chronic back pain, migraines, and serious sleep disturbances. My nervous system is often in a constant state of overload and pain. What makes Dr. Legaspi so rare is that he actually understands and takes the time to treat all of this together. He listens deeply, never rushes, and approaches my care with patience, gentleness, and real intention to help my body calm down. Honestly, the only times my nervous system truly settles and I am able to sleep is after seeing him. His treatments noticeably calm the nerve firing, reduce the intensity of the burning and shooting pain, and bring a level of relief I struggle to find anywhere else. It feels like my body finally gets a moment to rest. He is also incredibly compassionate and attentive. I'm in a wheelchair, and he always makes sure I am safe. He even waits with me until my Uber arrives and makes sure I get in safely. That kind of care and humanity is rare. After a year and a half, I can say without hesitation that he has made a real difference in my life. He is not only highly skilled and knowledgeable, but he treats medicine like a true calling, and it shows in everything he does. I am deeply grateful to have found Dr. Legaspi.
