The staff had anonymous thumping club music turned up loud enough that the few customers in the store had to lean in to hear what the sales assistant was advising. Other than the off-putting music choice, the huge store is well stocked with enough beauty and medical supplies to treat almost anything under the Hippocratic Oath. Costs aren't out of the ordinary, although if I'm in the market for good quality beauty products, I'll head to main vendors where the mark up won't be so high.

Then again, we have four supermarkets, number of fast-food joints and several off-license stores so perhaps it's good that we never have to walk far for stomach-pills or hangover cures. Whether we need them all or not, Rathmines pharmacists go all out to make sure we stay healthy and clean. And competition is usually good for consumers. Doc Morris, which opened last year, is located only a few steps from Boots and lures in costumers with its modern and shiny interior and shelves stuffed with medicines and beauty-products. Apparently they got the Irish retailer awards last year for the best small store. I still have to do a proper price comparison, but they are now advertising a big price relief and better prices than our "old pharmacies" as they like to put it. Saving a few bucks always sounds good, but maybe too good to be true? And I've always liked the less flashy drugstores where the pharmacists make you feel that you're more than a means to make money. All the same, next time I feel fluey, I might pay Doc Morris a visit and check if they mean what they say and see if I can make some good deals on drugs.

It was over 2 EUR cheaper than Boots. However, swings and roundabouts, I am a fan of is the Boots own brand hand cream, which is very reasonable and goes on lovely. I was here today because I couldn't find what I was looking for in Dunnes, so I checked boots and they had it. As for this store, it's well laid out. This Boots is better than the one on Grafton street, but only because it's got more space. They do have a great selection of all your usual pharmacy fare. It's bright and clean. Staff are generally friendly and very helpful. But as a rule, I try to shop in a supermarket or in your run of the mill chemist down the road, but as a last resort Boots is reliable
