I have never found a perfect dentist that has it all. The location is on the bus line for me and easy for me to get to. I like hanging in the Oakland area so that worked out well for me. So about my first time pleasant experience, I have nothing but positive things to say and can't think of one negative thing to say. I had no problem making an appointment either. Calling the office is easy to get a hold of compared to other offices where it's hard to get through or even schedule an appointment. The receptionist was friendly and greeted me. I believe her name is Nicole. The dental hygienist was real nice too and thorough at her job. She made me comfortable by being gentle on my teeth when scraping the plaque off. Her name is Lauren. It was real easy of a checkup which how it should be. As for Dr. Cushman, he was a real nice man and a real good dentist checking my mouth thoroughly for cavities and he was able to answer my questions well. I have felt real comfortable and I am looking forward to having Dr. Cushman as my future dentist! If he retires, I hope someone just as good as him and his staff replace him. If you are looking for a new dentist and have a fear of dentists, this is the place to go I recommened where you will feel the most comfortable. I will be going to this dentist from now on every 6 months for a teeth cleaning and if I have any problems with my mouth, I will trust this dentist office too. There's a reason why Dr. Cushman is a Top Rated dentist based on research I did for an excellent dentist! I don't even care if this office is not in walking distance for me either. I rather have to take the bus to go to a great professional dentist that is out of my way than walk to a close by dentist who isn't that good.

And now I have to get a second opinion because I've heard so many stories about how inaccurate her assessments are. The badly trained hygienist shoved the whole metal x ray holder in my mouth (the metal ring should be outside) for maybe a dozen x rays. I started screaming in pain and was even in tears. When the doctor came out she expressed no concern for my pain, just blaming my experience on my large tongue. It had never once been brought up before and it was a really crappy way to get around validating my pain. Later that day as I started having symptoms of a respiratory infection, I lost it. In addition to that agony and degradation, now I had to put everything on hold for nearly a week because of whatever nastiness was on that metal thing shoved to the back of my throat again and again, all while the "medical professional" blamed me for my large tongue. And I missed out on paid work I really needed. Dr Monahan hasn't responded to my other review or two emails. I will not contact her directly again but if she wants to apologize she can reach out to me. I am definitely going to report her and her practice and encourage others to do the same. No one should have to endure this.

Highly recommended. Not only is Dan a superb dentist, it's fun to go in for the Dan and Diane show. Dan and his assistant Diane have been bickering for four decades and it's a hoot to watch. For example, when I get in the chair, I usually say, "Who picked this music??" This results in a long give and go between Dan and Diane over music choice. This is a recurring theme. When you go for your appointment, be sure to floss very thoroughly, or you will get a good talking-to from Diane, the Floss Queen. Seriously. The admin staff here is efficient and warm. My hygienist is super nice and affable. I came here mid-year for an emergency visit for some soreness/pain at the back of my mouth. They scheduled a quick lunch appt, wrote me a prescription and made sure it was covered by my insurance. I even won their holiday prize drawing for a huge good gift basket! The only thing to note here is that they don't have Friday appts. If they ever do, I will recommend my hubs to go here as well.

Throughout my first appointment he was very open and honest explaining everything that he was doing and not asking me questions I couldn't answer when his hands were in my mouth (I hate that). He also does his own cleanings and even asks the patient to take responsibility for suctioning their mouth, which I liked because it gave me a job to focus on rather than worry about what was happening in my mouth. After the initial cleaning and xrays I had to get two cavities filled. Scheduling and rescheduling appointments is simple and made the process of getting back to the dentist easy! He and his entire staff are extremely friendly and helpful. He is extraordinarily nice and detailed in what he is doing and your options. I loved that he would put the x-ray up on the screen and point out different areas that might need a filling, or ones that could wait, etc. I never thought for a second that he was trying to get extra money or fillings out of me, he seemed very honest in what needed addressed and what didn't. He was able to fit me in on very short notice, and I was extremely pleased with the fillings that he placed. I also felt the prices were very reasonable. I would highly recommend Dr. Strcula to anyone looking for a new dentist.

The whole staff was incredibly kind and they are all very upbeat. Dr Bellios was so nice in explaining everything to me when he made my treatment plan. The girl at the front desk (Rena?) is super awesome about finding an appointment time that works with your schedule and working with you for a payment plan if you need it. She puts you at ease the minute you walking in the door and that makes her spectacular. I ended up needing a root canal, crown and some fillings. The root canal wasn't what I thought it would be like. I was so scared that it would hurt but Dr Bellios was very patient and made sure it didn't hurt at all. Every step of the way he was very kind and patient, even when some things just wouldn't get numb! I've Now completed my treatment plan and I couldn't be happier.
