My husband has been going here since the early 90s - always a good experience! The office staff is great - very professional!

Over the past 30 years, I've had extractions, braces, a couple dozen fillings, and numerous other tooth repairs and cleanings. I have never, in my entire life, had as terrible an experience as I did at Dr. Parker's office. My visit for three cavity fillings began when Dr. Parker went to numb me up. When I told him I have a tolerance for dental anesthetics and generally need a bit more than most people, I was told it was psychosomatic. That was my first red flag...even if pain is only in one's head (and my dentist back home has told me I have this tolerance, it's not a new thing, it's been true since childhood), isn't the point to make the patient feel comfortable? He then proceeded to do one of the shots directly into a nerve in my cheek. (If you've never had this happen, the pain is BLINDING. I actually screamed.) When I had trouble opening my mouth (because he shot numbing agent DIRECTLY INTO A NERVE), instead of helping me gently ease it open, Dr. Parker stuck two fingers in my mouth and literally yanked. The fillings themselves turned out very good, and I've had no problems with them in the two months since they were done, but I was in misery the entire time, CLEARLY in pain and discomfort, and Dr. Parker never stopped, never once asked if I was okay, never bothered to add more anesthetic. Not once, in an hour of work. He clearly has no patience for patients themselves and doesn't care about anything except getting through his work. He also spent a good chunk of this visit belittling the female hygienist assisting him, and even took a break at one point in the middle of my work to go do an eval of another patient. The sheer unprofessionalism would have been enough to turn me off all by itself, even without the horrific way he did the work. I went home after that visit and sobbed. This has never happened to me before. I was supposed to go back after an upcoming root canal to have a crown done, and the thought gave me literal nightmares until I decided to find a new dentist instead. If you have a pain tolerance and don't care about bedside manner, Dr. Parker knows what he's about and is good at the actual dental side of things. If you have any anxiety about dentistry whatsoever, AVOID AT ALL COSTS. read more

I am not always a negative person and there have been some positives from visiting Dr. Parker's office which is why I am at least giving this review 3 stars of just being ok so I will start with the positives before the negatives. The wait time at the office is not long at all and it's easy to get appointments. They never get booked that often. I also like how they do a thorough job with cleaning and the receptionist at the front desk is friendly. The other positive thing about this office is they keep the office clean and it's very convenient to get to. I also am able to get through easy when I call and they had no problem forwarding my dental records either. The x-rays they took on my mouth too was thorough and I like how they take pictures inside your whole mouth to check for cavities in case they miss something. Now for the negatives. One problem I had was the dental hygienist does not use a regular scraper and instead uses an electric plaque remover which has been very uncomfortable for my teeth and they get too rough on my teeth for someone who has sensitive teeth and sensitive gums. I had requested just a gentle take your time cleaning with just asking the dental hygienist if he can just use a regular non electric plaque remover to scrape and he said no because it's easier and more thorough to use the electric one that gets the plaque off easier. If you are someone who has sensitive teeth and wants to feel comfortable during teeth cleaning when they scrape plaque, keep in mind they use an electric scraper which feels unpleasant. As for Dr. Parker himself, he is thorough at his job but when I had my wisdom tooth pulled out there and when I had a cavity filled, I have been uncomfortable because he did not explain what he was doing and just forced me to have my wisdom tooth out where he told me it had to been done when it wasn't even bothering me. He treated it like I didn't have a choice even though it was my decision. That costed me a lot of money for a co-pay even when I had dental insurance. Also, there was something about him that rubbed me the wrong way where I had kind of an unpleasant experience because he had been getting impatient a little of how he wanted me to position my mouth when he did the procedures and came across snarky. I will not be going back to him because of those reasons and found a better dentist that is perfect, makes patients comfortable, and thorough at the same time. I also have a new dentist that I found for other reasons as well which suits my needs better. read more

My husband was having trouble that needed to be addressed asap. I called the office of Bruce Parker to confirm that they could indeed do the work that he was in need of and was assured that they could. So he had taken off work to attend the appointment. The dentist drilled into his tooth, left it open then packed it with a disgusting material and told him that he couldn't complete the work. We were stuck with an emergency that was most definitely created by this visit and nowhere to go. If it wasn't for my self doing due diligence to find another Dentist that would help fix Bruce Parker's mistake, he would've most definitely lost a tooth. Horrible, that they actually had the nerve to say, "This is best practice"! Seriously, never again! read more

Dr Bruce is a really nice and experienced doctor. He noticed the unusual black spot on my jawbone, and it was diagnosed as a benign tumor afterward. He also fixed my cavity, the process was really smooth and every people in the office are really nice. read more

After anxious years away from the dentist, I surprisingly find myself looking forward to my next visit with Dr. Parker. The staff were so welcoming, warm, and casual that it immediately set me at ease. Despite my having some dental issues, they were never judgemental or harsh, but instead encouraging and supportive. Dr. Parker himself was friendly, straight-forward, and seemed thoroughly competent. I really got a good feeling knowing that my oral health is in their hands. On top of that, 90% of my costs were covered because of Dr. Parker's participation in DeltaCare USA. The staff took care of confirming the coverage as well as getting me follow up appointments scheduled with zero hassle. I can't recommend them enough! read more

The front office of this dental firm is completely unprofessional. I've had my new patient evaluation rescheduled 5 different times since January. One time I went to the office only to be turned away as the Dentist was not there. The last straw was having my appointment cancelled a week before the appointment. There are too many dentists in the East End. Do not waste your time here. read more

I was nervous, because I had read some of the negative reviews, but I have to say, the experience was flawless. They diagnosed a problem that I had been dealing with for years, and I'm on the path to recovery. Also, they were able to fit me in the next day, and they took me at my appointed time. read more

Definitely do not book with this practice if you have a dental HMO. They overbook and it can take weeks or months to get an appointment. I had an appointment booked for early December that *they* canceled and were unable to reschedule before the end of the year. They put me on a list to call if any cancelations happened, but it is now January and no one has called. It was too late for me to switch to another dentist before the end of the year, so I was unable to use my dental benefits for the second half of the year. I just wanted to get my teeth cleaned. I'm switching my whole family to another practice that will not this to us. If there is a cancelation a practice should have the capacity to rebook within a month. This operation did not care that they cost us real money in benefits. read more

I was misled by the 4.8 rating online. I took my three-year-old son to Dr. Bruce Parker today hoping for a better experience than his first (which was a very filthy environment with filthy utensils) That was a big mistake. We have insurance through the state so I went knowing that I was going to pay out of pocket, but most importantly hoping to have my son's dental issue taken care of. My son has a visible chipped looking space on the surface of his tooth that I didn't think was a cavity. The dental hygienist told the doctor which tooth we were having problems with, he literally looked into my son's mouth, told me it was the beginning of a cavity and to do nothing for about 6 to 7 months and then bring him back in to look at it. That took a matter of three minutes. I am a RN student & i really don't know much about dentistry but I do know that wasn't accurate. Upon check out I was charged $85 for a "comprehensive exam". I then asked what a comprehensive exam consisted of and the secretary responded to me that the dentist already told her what was to be charged. What's worse is, While we were checking out I was showing someone the cavity that the dentist told me to ignore and realized that my son has the beginning of ANOTHER cavity underneath his front tooth. The dentist didn't even catch that, nor did he do an exam. I have three children and I have never had a child with a cavity until now. Granted my three old does like to drink sugary drinks and eat a lot more candy than my other children so it makes sense. We brush every day and every evening after dinner. I saved up my money and took my son to a highly rated dentist only to be robbed. I was very unsatisfied with the service. Not to mention the dentist does not have any bedside manners and told me to be quiet when I was trying to talk to my son and keep my son calm while having Dr. Parker sloppily and carelessly dig into his mouth. I would never recommend.. lastly, the only reason I did not make this a big deal after I questioned the charge is because I did not want to be what they already assumed I was when I stated that I would be paying out of pocket due to the fact that they don't accept our government assisted Medicaid. read more

This office is state of the art in regards to equipment and services offered however what you can't buy is bed side manners. Dr. Parker is always over booked has zero patience if you don't numb quickly. He is also rude to his dental assistants in front of patients. I have literally cried during a root canal. How would one know if a dentist is a good dentist unless one was a dentist? Well, we go on how we are dealt with, communications,any pain etc. He did a grteat job diagnosing a problem with a prior root canal. He said it had to be re-done. The specialist Dr Mario C said I did not need it. But he called back to say Dr Parker was correct -- Parker had the 360 degree x-ray. So, what was the problem? HE IS ALWAYS TO BUSY TO RETURN CALLS, even through his staff. I asked for a referral to another root canal specialist and never got a call back. This happened twice. If you want a dentist that is into "negging" & unprofessionalism, go to Dr. Parker! The first time you visit the office, you will be asked to smile for a picture. Then they will hand you several copies of the picture, manipulated to show you how much "better" you would look with professional whitening and veneers. I still CANNOT believe how they attempt to emotionally manipulate clients into buying something that is simply aesthetic and not about actual dental health! The staff is also highly unprofessional. I once showed up for an scheduled appointment, only to have the staff insist that I call my insurance company to make sure I was on their list or whatnot. Sitting in the waiting room on hold for 45 minutes was a waste of time! Especially since the receptionist outright told me that she knew it would be an issue before I even showed up. She could have done her job working in CUSTOMER SERVICE by calling ahead of time and giving me the heads up. And the unprofessionalism comes from the top, Dr. Parker is by no means exempt. During one of my visits, he spent half of his exam time with me socializing with staff, chatting with them via his headset about which one of them would be attending a hockey game with him that night. read more

The dental hygienist was gentle with my mouth and took the time to make sure my questions were answered. She was fantastic. Dr. Parker saw me for about two minutes. Very efficient and to the point. Not empathetic or warm or willing to take the time to talk about concerns. He did an "oral check" for cancer in my mouth. It consisted of jamming his finger in my mouth and moving it in a large circle. Not pleasant. I've never had anything like that before. It felt violating. Between that and the things I heard him say to the hygienist, I will not be going back. read more

Wait time is excellent. This office is very efficient. Sarah, the Hygienist, is thorough and careful. Dr. Parker is knowledgeable and good. I would recommend him and his staff. The location is extremely convenient. There is a parking lot immediately across the street. read more

Before starting my orthodontic treatment, I had to have my teeth examined by a Dentist. I was referred to Dr. Parker. I was impressed by the quality and personalized services offered by Dr. Parker and his staff. My case was urgent since I had to start the orthodontic treatment immediately. The excellent Dr Parker and his staff examined my teeth and realized that I had a cavity and I had to get a crown. I underwent the crown procedure which was painless. THIS IS THE BEST DENTIST IN AMERICA!!! After the crown procedure, one of the awesome hygienists cleaned my tooth and I was able to get my braces right on time. If you are in Pittsburgh or wherever else you may be, look no more for another Dentist, just pay a visit to this awesome Dentist and you will never look back. read more

Dr. Parker may be a skilled dentist but do not let him work on children. He is rude, rough and impatient and we will not be using his office again. On top of that his office obstructs patients who are in search of alternatives. read more

The doctor is ok. I relocated and found it so difficult to let them transfer my record to the new dentist. They cannot send the consent via e-mail due to technical issue so mail it is. For some reason, they are not willing to take my email address in case their computer is fixed. The lady asked me "do you know when our computer will be fixed? No you don't." read more

I've been seeing Dr. Parker for four years now, and I can't recommend him enough. He's a sweet guy with super friendly staff. I only visit twice a year (usually!), but they always remember me and make me feel at home. Today, I went in for a cleaning, and in just over an hour I I had clean teeth and a brand new filling, so I don't have to make a second trip! Dr. Parker was a good dentist until I really needed him. I moved and asked for a referral and was told by his office staff that they would send it and some xrays to an endodontist once they got my file out of their archives....so I went ahead and had the procedure as they sent the Xrays, promised the referral would follow and I was in great pain. Since then Dr. Parker has refused to send the referral even though someone on his staff said they would. As a result, my insurance is denying the claim due to no referral. It's costing me close to 3,000 dollars. I consider this to be horrifying behavior for a DMD, to leave a client in great pain and then to not due right by them given a mess up in their office. If you ever need him he will leave you out in the cold. Do right by me Dr. Parker. This is despicable behavior. read more

I am a former patient of Dr Parker. The last procedure I had done (wisdom tooth extraction) was the worst experience in my life. Unfortunately Dr Parker showed no remorse, compassion, or comfort. In addition his bedside manner was very poor. I opted not to be put to sleep, but to be numbed. I expected to feel some pain, but not nearly severe as if was. It was as if I wasn't numbed at all. The Dr was rough and aggressive in pulling my tooth out. As if he were pulling a cork out of a wine bottle that wouldn't budge. I was literally hysterical, in tears, hyperventilating, and screaming while in the chair. The doctor and assistance ignored all signs of discomfort and continued to aggressively pull out my tooth. When the procedure was complete I was shaking, still hyperventilating, and crying. The Dr left the room, the assistant never even offered me a tissue to wipe the blood from my face/ cheek, while reciting the care instructions. It was horrible. I literally could not stop crying. It was like I was traumatized. I felt like I had just been tortured. While leaving the office I felt like all the employees were staring at me because they all heard my screams, which was embarrassing. Oddly enough Dr. Parker had a huge smile on his face. I was shaken up for days from this procedure, and bad treatment I experienced. I immediately contacted my insurance provider and switched my doctor. I know have a new dentist who is amazing. Based on my experience with my new dentist, I seriously question Dr. Parker's skill base, and believe my treatment was barbaric. I even have a small credit on my account at Dr Parkers office which I email them about, with no response. I never bothered to pursue it again after the initial email. I want nothing to due with this office ever. Looking back on the experience I keep thinking of ways I could have stopped the procedure, but laying down in that position of was defenseless, and Dr. Parker continued regardless of my obvious discomfort. Shame on him. He definitely lost a patient in me. read more
