After three and a half years working in medical billing for this practice, I am deeply disappointed by my experience with its management and the circumstances surrounding the end of my employment.
Throughout my time working with the office, I experienced what I considered to be an unnecessarily demanding and frequently discourteous approach to communication from Kelli, the physician's wife. In my experience, interactions with her often lacked the mutual respect, professionalism and consideration that employees should reasonably expect in a workplace.
My position involved substantial responsibilities, including addressing billing concerns and resolving difficult situations involving patients. On multiple occasions, I had to handle complaints arising from discrepancies between amounts patients understood they would be charged for orthotics and the amounts subsequently communicated during the billing process. Resolving these situations was often stressful and time-consuming, particularly alongside my existing workload.
Despite these challenges, I consistently made an effort to fulfill my responsibilities, assist the practice and address problems as professionally as possible. Unfortunately, I frequently felt that my efforts and contributions were neither recognized nor appreciated.
The working environment eventually became emotionally exhausting for me. On one particularly difficult occasion, I became upset and confided in a friend about my experiences. My friend subsequently posted a negative review of the practice. Following that incident, I was informed of the possibility of legal action concerning the review. I understood that removing it would resolve the dispute. However, the review was removed, and my employment subsequently ended.
After three and a half years of dedication, I found the way this situation unfolded profoundly disappointing. I had hoped that my years of service and contributions would have been met with greater consideration and a more constructive approach to resolving workplace disagreements.
I am particularly disappointed that these issues arose in a medical practice, where I believe professionalism, accountability and respectful communication should extend not only to patients but also to the people working behind the scenes.
Employees deserve to be treated with dignity, regardless of their position. A demanding workplace does not have to be a disrespectful one, and professional leadership should encourage open communication rather than leave employees feeling intimidated or undervalued.
Although I am disappointed by how my employment ended, I am relieved to have moved on from a working environment that I personally found increasingly stressful and unsupportive.
I share this experience as my own perspective on the workplace and its management. I hope the practice takes employee concerns seriously and reflects on the importance of fostering a respectful, accountable and professional working environment. read more
