First of all, the owner, Mark, is a fabulous man who is beyond intelligent and truly down to earth. Especially after his retirement from NASA (was that a very flat joke? I know, lol). As you drive onto the property, you're greeted by a beautiful home to the right and gorgeous views of the water. To your right, you'll also see picturesque grapevines. When you enter the tasting room, it's clean, calm, and inviting. Our group had our wine tasting led by Anthony, who is a wonderful person and a comedian in his own right. He kept us entertained while also making sure we were well informed about each wine we tasted. We did their tasting experience, which includes about eight wines to explore, and it was a great way to get a feel for their offerings. We had the pleasure of visiting the Mark Cascia Vineyards on an early warm Sunday afternoon. About 15 minutes after you cross the Bay Bridge, Cascia Vineyards sits off of the water on a pretty substantial amount of land. We were pleasantly surprised how charming and quaint the main tasting room and vineyard were maintained. After you park, the tasting room is the smaller of the two buildings. We were a little confused about that since we didn't see a sign indicating the entrance. We were greeted by the owner himself, Mark Cascia. He introduced himself, made a little small talk and welcomed us very warmly. You can either do the tasting outside on the deck or inside in the air conditioning. We opted to do the tasting on the deck since it was such a nice day out. Mark and his other staff member took turns guiding us through the wine tasting by bringing each wine out and giving each a brief description. They started with the whites and ended with the reds. Each wine is made on-site using the grapes from the vineyard. The wines were pretty enjoyable and the service was outstanding. You can purchase glasses, bottles, and even cheese plates. Additionally, feel free to bring your own snacks to nosh on while drinking your wine. We ended up purchasing a bottle of Rosé to take home. For the 2 of us, the tasting was $20...I thought that was really reasonable. The bottle of wine was about $29 and others ranged from $25 on up. The vineyard itself was a photographers dream come true, especially on a clear day like we had. So we walked around and snapped a few photos. We had a wonderful time and enjoyed our little pit-stop while In Kent Island. No appointments necessary, just stop-by if you're in that neck of the woods on a weekend between the hours of 12-4pm. Hidden gem!! I was looking up places for a socially distant meet up! Since I'm an avid Yelper, my friends always task me with picking locations and providing the deets! I don't mind of course. This place popped up. They didn't have many reviews but did a quick browse on IG and saw it is near water! I was sold!! Per the website, they're open from noon to 4 p.m. and reservations aren't required but masks are! Yesterday I visited this vineyard. It took me about 50 minutes to get here. Not bad in my book - I'd actually drive further than that. Arrived around 2 p.m. Plenty of parking available. The signage is small. It just says "winery." Make a left here and you'll arrive! Limited outdoor abs indoor seating. Feel free to bring your own folding chairs. I always do just in case. In fact, I keep a chair and blanket in my trunk at all times! This place is kid friendly by the way! Onto the wine! They have tastings available (8 for $10). The bottles run $25 to $40. A bit pricey to me but it's about the experience and I had a great time. The staff was very welcoming and friendly. Shout-out to Ed! I'm a red wine drinker so I'm biased but I tried the whites and rose! I liked the Queen Anne's Reserve! Ended up getting a bottle of the rose and sat outside and enjoyed the views! Took lots of pics. Glad I came here! read more

A friend and I visited Mark Cascia Vineyards a few weeks ago for a tasting. We had a good time (the owner was very fun, chatty, and helpful), and the property is beautiful (there's some outside seating with a view). We each tried a flight and then chose a glass of our favorite from the flight (I think it was a viognier). None of the wines were any I needed to run out to get a bottle of, but I had a nice time at this winery. It's pretty and a fun experience overall. read more

We loved this vineyards. The couple who owns it and serving the wines and chatting with the patrons. They were super friendly and kind to let our dogs into the tasting room. Outside they have plants of space to picnic and her great views of the water. We enjoyed their white blend and got a couple of bottles to bring home. The prices were very reasonable, much cheaper than in Virginia wineries and much less crowded. We will surely return! read more

Property had just hosted a wedding or something and still had chairs/tables and tent up, which was great for us to utilize the outdoor space. The staff seemed a bit overworked (3 ppl including husband and wife owners). Although there wa hand sanitizer everywhere, covid protocols were not observed. The staff didn't actually use their masks, tables were not wiped down between customers, and staff touched all the wine glasses when doing tastings. We sat outside after the tasting to enjoy a glass of wine. Tastings = $10 for 8 wines. Glasses were approx $7+ and bottles are $20+. read more

Beautiful grounds on the water! This was our first visit to the vineyard and we had a noon tasting scheduled. When we arrived we were a few minutes early so the gates were not open yet. Within minutes we were able to go in. The grounds are beautiful and so were the rows and rows of grapes. There were four of us for the noon tasting and we got the pleasure of meeting the owner Mark who poured for us. A former aerospace engineer, he spent a lot of time in France sampling wine. Once he retired from engineering he bought the vineyard and began making wine. A lot of his techniques are French inspired. The wines we sampled were all surprising very good. I truly had no complaints on the taste of the wines. The 3 stars are directly related to the labeling of the bottles. They are hand placed on the bottles but a little more care to line them up straight on the front and back is a must. Great wine needs a great presentation. Overall, the winery is great, the owners are super friendly and laid back, the wines are good. Stop in and give them a try if you are in the area. read more

The owner, Mark, and his daughter provided great service and it was fascinating to hear him explain how he is able to grow so many varieties on flat land in Maryland! I think this place is great! Mark and his wife are super nice people, and the view out on to the water is gorgeous. Their wine tasting is also only $10 (yes, ten dollars) and includes tasting something like 7 or 8 wines. If you want to do a tasting with a bunch of wines, this is the place! The wine's were pretty good, though I'm not too knowledgeable. There were some I thought were good, some I didn't care for. Mark doing the explanations and chatting about his process really made the experience for me. He is an aerospace engineer who has a passion for making wines! What he has done on that property is really incredible for something that started off as a hobby. There wasn't too much to do but if you're looking for a wine day spending it at one place, drinking a bunch of wine, and hanging out with a group then you can definitely do that here. We spent maybe about an hour or so tops and decided to head back home. Also, FYI wine tastings are only done inside (which is a shame if you want to sit on the deck) but understandable because Mark and his wife do them themselves so running around in and out of the doors in the back would be very impractical. read more

Went here on a whim to check it out. This was the first winery I've been to where I enjoyed the entire flight of wine. Believe me, I've been to many a wineries on about 1/2 dozen countries! lol I ended up buying the viognier and cabernet franc. I normally don't like CF's but their vintage had me change my mind this one time at this one place. The setting is beautiful with waterfront views. Next time I'm coming back with a big ol lunch, buy a bottom of wine and watch the sunset. read more

I really struggled with this review, but in the end I'm basing it primarily on the wine and not the entire experience. I stopped in on a Saturday afternoon with a group of friends (there were 10 of us) for a tasting after leaving the distillery tour down the road. Mark, the owner, was very friendly and poured the wine for our tastings ($10/person) and gave the history of each of the wines, which was nice. Unlike some of the other reviews I've read that said they were offered complimentary cheese & crackers, we were only offered oyster crackers, but luckily we had brought some of our own snacks. We sat outside on the deck, which has a lovely view of the water, but also a HUGE pile of mulch that kind of detracts from the ambience. But you're free to walk down by the water, which is a nice little stroll. The wine overall was not good. There were a couple that are OK, and by OK I mean barely drinkable, but I didn't taste anything that was worth the $25+ prices per bottle that they charge. read more

Okay so we went to enjoy the wine tasting. We went in and talked to the lady at the counter, we told her we had never been there and was there for the tasting. She said okay, so we ask do we need to sit here at the bar or can we sit outside for the tasting? She said we would have to sit inside for the tasting but if we got a glass or bottle we could sit outside . This is a Saturday at 2pm. She said to us well first I'm going to need to see your IDs. (It wasn't what she said but how she said it) So we pull out our IDs and she walks away to attend to another customer sitting at a table. At that time we decide to sit at one of the tables inside not far from where she was. We sit there for about 10 minutes until we left. The only reason I gave 2 stars was for the scenery and view. read more

Their location just off the Chesapeake Bay has great views of Cox Creek with outside seating along with their brand new tasting room. 12 acres of grapes produce 18 different varieties and some of the absolute best wine you have ever had. While many think of Maryland Wine as over sweet this place is an absolute gem producing wines such as Nebbiolo, Bordeaux Blend (Queen Anne Reserve), Viognier, and many other top shelf and truly premium wines. I researched many wineries on the bay to propose to my (now) fiance and this one stood out to me both for the good reviews and the pictures of the amazing views. I spoke with Mark Cascia beforehand about my plans and he and his wife made sure everything was perfectly prepared. After arriving, me and my fiance first did the wine tasting - our favorite wines were the Semillon Sauvignon and the Queen Anne's Revenge. We then bought a bottle of the Queen Anne's Revenge and sat outside on the vineyard's adirondack chairs overlooking the water. After enjoying some of the wine and a bit of cheese and crackers/bread we brought with us, I proposed right in front of the water. My fiance was surprised and thrilled about the proposal at the vineyard! We both loved the wines, the view, and the great service/help of the Cascias. We bought another bottle of the Queen Anne's Revenge to enjoy later and will definitely be returning to the vineyard! We really enjoyed the quality wines, the amazing waterfront view, the relaxing atmosphere, and the great service the Cascias provided. Highly recommended! read more

I love a small winery off the beaten path, and this little place is a hidden gem. My girlfriend and I came in for an afternoon tasting and were greeted by the couple who own this lovely spot. Mark poured every wine with a story and an obvious love of his craft. Every wine just sung to me; full-bodied, well-rounded, they all had a distinct flavor and some fun variations on familiar varietals. I even loved the port at the end, and I rarely like the finishing dessert wine. We then took our glasses outside to the Adirondack chairs and basked in one of the nicest July afternoons in recent memory with a view of the water. 10/10 would recommend this place to anyone and everyone. read more

Cascia is a beautiful place and it has been a very pleasant experience each time we have been there. We have not experienced huge crowds but if there are crowds, doesn't that tell you something good? My husband, an Annapolis native, never liked any Maryland wines but he changed his mind after visiting Cascia and tasting their award-winning grapes. We ran into this winery by luck, boating season was ending and we happen to see a sign that pointed towards the winery for wine tastings. Let me start by saying the property is absolutly beautiful surrounded by the Cheasapeak Bay on one side and the Cox creek on the other. I was told by the owner Mark that he has a least 6 feet of water and welcomes boat to tie up to the dock. Once in side the tasting room (kind of looks like an up scale barn) a tasting was available for $10, you got to try 5 reds and 5 whites. They also had complimentry crackers and cheese to clense your palate. It was pretty busy so service was a bit slow but thats because Mark and his wife talked you through the tastings and gave you some history. They were both very knowledgable and made you feel like family. We spent several hours enjoying the tasting and the senery, we ended up with a case of wine all reds, my favorite was the 2009 Nebbiolo followed by the Queen Anne reserve. I cant wait until theyre open again, i just finished our last bottle over the weekend. I recommend it. read more

Stopped in today after a great experience at another winery. It was very loud (could hear noise before opening the door). It was crowded but two seats opened at the bar so we took them. A few minutes later we were told about the $10 tastings, but it was so crowded and loud we discussed leaving...to come back another day. The lady (owner) convinced us to stay, but I wish we hadn't listened to her claims that they have the best wine in md. It was far from it. The ambiance would probably be much better when weather allows sitting outside, but inside is terrible. Those arriving after us were standing over our shoulders waiting for seats...not pleasant. They didn't have enough help either, so we were waiting around the whole time. Seeing a port listed, we patiently waited...hoping it would be good. Unfortunately it was just fair. Drinkable, but definitely not good enough for the price. We'll trust our instinct next time and just leave before total disappointment. $20 for two tastings of mediocre wine in a noisy environment..ugh. read more

Having been to Mark Cascia's winery several times now, I feel confident in saying that it is an outstanding way to spend a Saturday or Sunday afternoon. Mark and Kim Cascia, the owners of the winery, are very gracious and friendly and make you feel like old friends. But, you'll be going for the wines and they don't disappoint! Several of their wines have won awards, which shows the great care and interest that goes into the grapes. They produce both red, white and dessert wines. You can have a wine tasting of all of the varieties for just $10, which will be given by Mark or Kim on the outdoor patio overlooking Cox Neck Creek, or in their lovely tasting room. I know that you'll be choosing your favorite and enjoying a glass while relaxing in this pleasant place. You can bring in your own wine and cheese or accompaniments to the wine. It is accessible by car just off Route 50 or by boat on Cox Neck Creek. They do close in the winter, so be sure to check their hours. Lovely bay scenery makes this an idyllic wine tasting experience and venue for special celebrations. Mark is very knowledgable about the craft of winemaking. His wines are complex and keepers which means that they will be best after a few years of aging. I've noticed the few poor reviews seem to come from folks that are more used to easy going, ready to drink wines. Mark's are made with the care of wineries who are crafting their wines with the components that will allow them to mature into a lovely beautiful wine whose flavors are most balanced and best after 5 or more years of aging. So if you tend to like wines that taste great when they are young, you may not appreciate the complex tastes in these wines. But if you know wines and appreciate complex flavors and the ability to cellar them, this is definitely a winery to visit. Both Mark and his wife are engaging hosts with great stories to tell. Mark's interest in wine-making started when he lived in France. His wife's culinary skills are exceptional. read more
