Anthony took the time to travel into the city and meet with us personally to make sure it was a good fit and talk about details. He's a one-man show so he's able to offer a great rate and he truly does an awesome job handling it on his own! He was able to keep our bridal party in-line (not an easy feat!) and kept people laughing. We ended up having to make a location change last minute due to heavy Friday afternoon traffic and Anthony went with the flow and was able to find some unique locations in the city on the fly. I would 100% recommend Anthony to anyone looking for a wedding photographer. One piece of advice, make sure you are clear on the length of time between the wedding and when you expect to get pictures. We spent quite a bit of time researching photographers online, and when we found Michael we fell in love with his style. We sent him an email to set up a consultation, and he was quick to respond. Knowing Michael only shoots a select amount of weddings a year, we were thrilled he agreed to meet with us. And once we met, we fell in love with his personality and his samples. His coffee table book-style albums are made in Italy. Ours was bound in a gorgeous black leather cover and came in an exquisite wooden box. He also has a unique digital tool that helps you create the album of your dreams together, and we received a USB flash drive in the mail with all of the images as well. Michael and his assistant Jim made us feel so comfortable on the wedding day, from the "getting ready" images to the ceremony to the reception. They also snapped images of us outside the reception venue in the snow for some incredible winter photos on what was the coldest day of the year (in December 2017). It only took a few minutes as the sun was setting, and they got what would become some of our favorite shots of the entire day. That said, being so late with this review is NOT a reflection of their services. I'm just a procrastinator. Michael also knew we wanted more candid photos, so while we still had typical posed photos there were also plenty of candid shots of our guests and us. We couldn't have asked for a better photographer! One a wonderful side note, we mentioned in passing that we wanted to hire a day-of wedding coordinator, and Michael had a fantastic recommendation for us. As a bride, I know minimum reviews or a small portfolio may keep you from reaching out to a photographer or videographer, but I'm so glad that we found Rolando! I can gush forever about his photography skills which are amazing! I did a lot of research before stumbling upon Rolando's Wedding Wire reviews (http://www.weddingwire.com/biz/andrade-photography-naperville/3db700ec6787445d.html) then I checked out his blog (http://www.photographybyandrade.com/blog) and then my (now) husband and I met Rolando at a Starbucks for an introductory meeting. Spoiler alert: we booked on-the-spot. Rolando offered a great package at a competitive price. We booked about 7 months in advance. Throughout the months leading up to the wedding, Rolando would reach out to us from time-to-time to check in, and asked us about our photo style, asked us to make a list of specific moments we wanted him to capture (we actually never did the list), and yet I can't think of any moments that Rolando may have missed. He was always accessible via email, phone or text. Our package included an engagement session, which was so much fun, despite the freezing weather, and afterwards, we felt even more reassured that we made the right choice in picking Rolando because he was so passionate and creative about his photography, professional, and down-to-earth. The day of the wedding, Rolando arrived at least 30 minutes earlier than he said he would, and his helper, the second photographer, also arrived early at the groom's house. Rolando was so flexible with all the events throughout the day. (He walked with me and my caravan family to church (about a 10-minute walk in a residential area), hauling his equipment in a suitcase and capturing photos along the way --(something our videographer, separate company, wasn't willing to do). He also joined us in the party bus, then photos at the park, and stayed until like 10:30 PM, (or later?) at the hall. (Rolando had agreed to stay until we said it was okay to leave, or at least until all the traditional events had taken place such as the garter toss, bouquet toss, etc.) If you're still looking for a photographer, you should just call Rolando now and pray that he's not booked yet. Communication was great until there was a problem -- then it became like pulling teeth to get a response. It took multiple emails and leaving voicemails just to get someone to reply after we had missing footage from our film (the first look with my Dad, which is a major moment) and I had asked for a few edits of the most important pictures since there were very few of family. We received our gallery after 6 weeks, which was expected, but many of the photos were a disappointment considering the amount of money we paid. In the very little family photos we have, there are people with eyes closed, caught mid-sentence, or blocked. It felt like there was no planning or intention behind what was captured, and there was no organization of how people were placed. The gallery really lacked variety, and on the day of I had attempted to redirect the photographer multiple times, and he just couldn't understand. It made for an insanely chaotic and stressful day of, which is probably why the gallery turned out the way it did. One bridesmaid had solo photos taken of her SIX times, yet somehow there were no groomsmen-only photos with the groom. My mom -- the mother of the bride -- is barely in any photos. The day itself lacked structure and organization when it came to photos. My wedding coordinator had to step in multiple times. The film was the most devestating part. The one moment I truly cared about having on film -- my first look with my dad -- was missing. I wasn't told until after multiple inquiries and almost 3 months after the wedding that the microphones had failed, which is why they decided to just cut it out and not include it in the film. Instead of working with us on a thoughtful fix, they finally located the footage and just slapped on some random music that didn't match the moment at all. It was honestly just sad to see that memory treated so carelessly with no apology at all. One of the owners actually worded it like he did me a favor by saying "I'm happy we were able to get that in your film". Excuse me? I only asked for six photos to be looked at to see if there was a different shot or if they could be fixed , and every time I ask about it -I get ghosted. No updates, no accountability. If you can't find a different shot of the same picture or edit it, just let me know that then instead of leaving me in the dark. The owner was warm and responsive early on, but once something went wrong, that professionalism disappeared. It became clear that once they've been paid, you're no longer a priority. You don't get a second chance at your wedding memories. Although upset, I still was understanding in my initial phone call and follow up emails with Jay. I even reiterated that I know we could not go back and find pictures that were not taken, but if we could just make some adjustments to the existing photos -that would help. I was told that this could absolutely be done, and it still hasn't. Inexcusable. I understand that business owners can't answer emails immediately and things take time, but ghosting for weeks is ridiculous. I only received a vague response after I would call and leave voicemails. If this was something that they truly needed more time to work on, then update me and keep me in the loop while I patiently wait 6 additional weeks and have sent a follow up to touch base. A little communication would have gone a long way here, and that's where everything went wrong. It's the lack of effort to rectify this in a professional and timely manner that I have a big issue with. I have already cautioned against using this company to my engaged friends because of how this matter was handled. *Sharing this experience to warn others because as a bride, it is incredibly difficult to choose a wedding vendor and you should be made to feel like a priority.*
