    Passion fruit!

This review is way overdue. Mark and his team are amazing. We've been a client of Mark's for almost 2 years. What started as a simple maintenance of a newly done front landscape while growing some edibles in a few planters boxes, has now become a complete revamp of a weed infested backyard with very hard clay. As an experiment, Mark threw seeds everywhere to break up the clay. The side effect was helping us realize which parts of the yard flourished. And with that knowledge, we can tailor the final design of the yard, optimizing where to grow what, and where to leave space for gathering. Through the 2 years we've grown watermelons, tomatoes, passion fruit, artichoke, squash, multiple variations of kale, basil, Armenian cucumbers, blueberries... The list goes on. We've tried things we've never heard of. He takes our feedback and adjust the plan as needed. To be honest, we probably waste some of his efforts by not harvesting more. Mark is very patient and willing to go at your speed. The yard revamp speed is due to us since we've been doing some remodeling. So Mark has been strategically planning what to do next such that the work won't be a waste of effort. I can't wait to get our design done and march towards a beautiful, edible, and relaxing backyard. If you're looking for an edible landscape/gardening team that knows what they're doing and love what they do, contact Mark before he can't take anymore clients.

Natalie has designed and installed our 2,000 gallon rainwater system, a laundry-to-landscape system, and a shower branched-drain system for us. She's also provided invaluable consulting and design support for my edible garden over the years. Not only is Natalie an absolute professional - her quality of work is great, and she's completely reliable - but she's such an amazing teacher. Working with Natalie has been like having my own private permaculture instructor. With her kind and patient support, I've learned how to nurture my little plot of earth to create a beautiful and nourishing mini-farm for my family.

I'm so grateful to have met Natalie and to have her as a resource. She is a knowledgeable,…read morereliable, hardworking gardener/farmer who obviously has a passion for what she does. She is also friendly, easy going, and professional. We usually go through the garden together and talk about what my goals are, and she makes suggestions throughout and lets me know about how long things will take. Then she works tirelessly to accomplish it all. She's done an excellent job pruning our trees, which is definitely more of an art than a science, and not something I can easily trust others to do properly. She's the kind of person who can adapt to whatever level of information or service you need. For example, my husband is a big picture person who just wants the garden to be well maintained. I'm a detail oriented person who wants to plan out the organic vegetable garden and go over exactly what is needed to make sure it's a success. She also has a gift for creating beautiful vegetable gardens. She brings over her magic ingredients to make your vegetable garden special - things like flowering cover crops to enhance your soil, heirloom beans to climb your fences, lovely bulbs to throw in here and there, healthy starts, straw to balance all that green in your compost, and mulch for your pathways. She is also very strong and has amazing endurance. I can't believe how much she can accomplish in one day! She's been a great resource for us, giving us tips on where to buy things, what to buy, and giving inexpensive alternatives. She also offers to bring things to us when she comes (seeds, straw, mulch). She'll identify the pests on your plants and trees, and make suggestions on how to treat them organically. If she's pulling out old plants, she'll save the edible portions for you and make suggestions on what to do with them. She can also set up or fix your irrigation system. Whatever we've needed in our garden, Natalie has been able help us accomplish it.

After discussion and the fact that one of the large trees was cracking the cmu wall I got a quote to remove all of the trees and plants (except the roses). After accomplishing that I got more ideas with the clean slate and decided to paint the wall and add a vinyl fence topper for privacy. I am very pleased with the end result. After this project I hired Jose and his crew to do more work at another property. I would highly recommend him.

Everyone else we had spoken with had tried to talk us out of weed barrier because it's a hassle to install. He also was able to understand my vision very well and is knowledgeable about all of the drought tolerant plants we wanted, including asking about different colors and varieties rather than making assumptions and getting the wrong thing for us. José even suggested that they mix a small amount of concrete with our decomposed granite around our raised beds so that we wouldn't have weeds coming up around the beds. It looks great and will save us so much time and work! José was extremely responsive and his estimate was comprehensive and well thought-out. He showed up when he said he would and did great work. I was so impressed with the attention to detail of José and his crew. When they were done, they cleaned up to the point that it was cleaner when they left than when they arrived. One example of how thorough José and his crew were is that they installed some artificial turf, and after installing it, they brought a special brush/roller tool to make the turf stand up properly. José's prices were not low, but they were fair, especially for the immaculate job he did! I will post pictures once the plants grow in a little bit more!
