During a tele-conference with Dr. Eric C Lee MD on 09/04/2026, he lied to me that based on the MRI…read morereport of my lumbar region, the cartilage of my left knee and my left hip already damaged so he refused to give me a referral for an MRI. My PCP doctor reviewed both reports CT and MRI on my lumbar and did not see any information about my left hip, knee cartilage damaged. She gave a referral for MRI. The results came back negative on cartilage damaged but the problem that causing pains from my left hip, knee were "joint effusion". I never had these problems before having Prolia injection.
Dr. Eric C Lee MD was not only lying, he was hiding a very important side effect of Prolia medication: it causes musculoskeletal pains. It was more important to me because after my stroke nearly 20 years ago, I'd been diligently exercising everyday to maintain my musculoskeletal health, and I gained my muscle strength, improved my joint mobility, and effectively managed my chronic pain throughout those years of my life. One shot of Prolia put a stop on all of that. I lost 8 lbs of bones and muscles, I no longer have regular exercises like before the injection!
On my second visit 04/06/2026, I was preparing to have first shot of Prolia after discussing side effects with Dr. Eric C Lee MD. I was prying on all possible side effects and hoped that Prolia was the right choice. He casually suggested me to try the medication if I do not like it, or it does not work, I can go back to Alendronate. He told me there was "a small risk" of atypical fracture and Osteonecrosis of the jaw (ONJ) which is a serious condition characterized by the death of jawbone tissue due to reduced blood supply. It can lead to severe complications, including pain and exposure of the bone in the oral cavity.
After the injection, I started to notice problem about beginning of June 2026 such as getting in and out of my car getting more difficult. I had to slow down a lot after getting out of my car and stood still for couple minutes until the pain passed and I could walk on. Then there were more shooting pain and my muscles got weaken and I could not do any exercise at the gym. I saw my muscles got smaller each day; my rib cage and my collar bones showed prominently. Soon after, I could not do exercises in a pool. My hips became too weak to support my upper back. I walked with a kyphotic posture for many months and I started to fear that I could never walk upright again! I was too weak to push an empty grocery cart. I was too embarrassed to walk in the public. My independent life was over! I had to rely on my relative to do chores around the house.
The impact of Prolia was like beeing seriously attacked by a thug or having a major surgery on my spines plus hip and knee replacements!!
The first time I requested for pain pills, my PCP gave me some "non-opioid" type, they did not work!
I requested physical therapy and I got total of seven visits authorized. I started physical therapy August 6, 2026. By the seventh session, the therapist informed me that he had no more to treat me. I left the rehab center in a kyphotic posture for many more months. I was on my own to figure out how to stand up straight again, and how to walk upright again!
My upper back was as bumpy as the surface of a rural country road. My massage therapist every week straightened out my back. With his knuckles, elbows and forarms he pressed on and smooth out those bumpy spots. My neck pain became worsen and needed weekly massage and then twice per week so I could drive safely! I have constant fear of fall that when the next nerve pain strikes, my left knee could buckle and I could tumble to the ground, break my neck, since I walked in a kyphotic posture, and death was certain. Death could claimed my life before Prolia could claim victory on fixing my osteoporosis!
By 08/18/2026, I put all the fears and public embarasment aside, I returned to pool exercise in a kyphotic posture.
The office of Dr. Eric C Lee MD emailed me my medical record for the time I was under his treatment. There are many conditions, problems I do not have:
1. I do not have most of the problems listed under "CONSTITUTIONAL HEENT" and "PULMONARY CIRCULATORY", and GASTROINTESTINAL, Dysuria " sections.
2. I had Dysphagia when I first came down with my stroke nearly 20 years ago. I no longer have any difficulty swallowing, which can affect the intake of food, liquids, or both. As it recorded in my medical record that I was "well-nourished"; apprarently Dysphagia is no longer applicable!
One thing I should mention about constipation caused by Prolia. It was so severe that I used to have bowel movement everyday easily, with large amount. Prolia shut all that down. When I squeezed on a small piece of fecal, and it was as hard as a piece of dried clay!
